Chapter 226: Secret Chamber
Mineah quickly returned the bangle back to Dahlia because of the powerful protection spell it holds, not to mention how it was currently linked to her body with an invisible thread. Clearly, Zoran didn’t want Dahlia to remove it from her person for a good reason, so Mineah ended up deciding that she would just bring Tarah along with her to see Dahlia instead as soon as possible.
With her curiosity sated, Mineah left Dahlia to her work. She still had a lot of things to do herself after all. Currently, she was on her way to the library when Nikolai suddenly appeared beside her, not even giving her a warning as he grabbed her hand and held it firmly.
"Aunt Alexa is already there," Nikolai casually pointed out. "How is Dahlia?"
"Tending to the greenhouse to keep herself occupied," Mineah informed him. "She’s so worried about Zoran that she has to keep herself distracted. Knowing that, I’m planning to borrow Tarah and hopefully, she can get something that can help locate the man and somehow establish contact with him."
She turned to Nikolai and added, "He also put on a very powerful protective spell on the bangle Dahlia is wearing. That bangle will react if ever she’s in danger, and it’s also connected to her with a binding thread. Clearly, he truly cares for Dahlia."
"He loves her so much," Nikolai muttered with a sigh. "I don’t get how I didn’t even notice it back when we were together. He’s quite good at hiding his feelings, I suppose."
Mineah smiled as she gently squeezed Nikolai’s hand. "Don’t worry, I’m sure Tarah will find out something either through Dahlia or the bangle she’s wearing," she reassured him. "We’ll get Zoran back. I already sent word to Mother about this case, and I’m sure she knows something about how to break a binding spell a demon created."
Nikolai nodded with a smile, and she could only smile back as they walked side by side with their hands locked together. Soon, they reached the library, and Lord Cian quickly greeted them at the entrance.
"Your Majesties, please follow me."
Giving the man a curt nod, they followed Cian as he led them to the grand staircase with a stone-carved vulture perched on two sides of the walls. They were going down it would seem, and Mineah blinked as she peered down their path.
The further down they went, the more she saw the many cave-like openings around them. Cian led the way toward the entrance at the center opening, and Nikolai probably noticed her frowning as he explained all the paths around them.
"These entrances led to different chambers that contain important books, parchments, documents, and more," he explained. "Some of Valcrez’s ancient treasures are also hidden here."
"We also have many artifacts and relics here," Lord Cian added. "You can access them anytime you want now that His Majesty has given you full authority over this place."
Mineah turned to her husband with a raised eyebrow. She didn’t know she had that kind of access now.
Nikolai simply smiled at her. "Not everyone has full access in here, Mine. Not even my Mother can enter these secret chambers," he explained. "Only the King is allowed to have full access to every chamber here, and it will be in his sole discretion as to who he will allow to have access in every secret chamber."
"I see," Mineah nodded in understanding. "So where exactly are we heading now?"
Looking further down, it seemed like they still had a long way down with how eerie the ambiance was ahead of them. She felt like they were walking through a maze inside a dark cave with only Cian’s lamp lighting their way.
"We’re heading to the Prophecy Chamber, Your Majesty," Cian informed her.
Just as he said where they were headed, they stopped at what looked to be a dead end. There, Cian chanted something, and suddenly, a door became visible.
"Only the Exordiums and the Royal Family can go inside the Prophecy Chamber aside from Cian," Nikolai informed as Cian opened the doors. Inside, they were greeted and bowed to by four men dressed in white.
"Your Majesties," the four men greeted them.
"They’re the Prophets in charge of this chamber," Nikolai stated as he introduced her to the four vampire prophets.
Once the introductions were done, Nikolai dismissed them so that they could go back to their work. Walking in, Mineah couldn’t help but notice all the various tools and books around them.
However, what really caught her attention was the tree inside the central chamber. It was located right in the middle of the room, and it had a big trunk that was surrounded by clear water. There was also a carving on the trunk where a big book was currently sitting. There was also a pathway going directly into the tree trunk.
Curious, she was about to ask Nikolai about it when she suddenly heard a familiar voice.
"Mineah!"
Mineah immediately smiled as she turned to Aunt Alexa approaching them, her wide and bright smile made her smile brighter in turn.
"It has been a while, Aunt Alexa," Mineah hummed with her sweetest smile.
"Yes, indeed," Alexa giggled as she teased them. "You and Nikolai are always busy these days, but I’m glad you two aren’t forgetting what’s most important, and that’s producing an heir!"
Mineah blushed at the obvious insinuation. Nikolai, on the other hand, simply chuckled as he pulled her closer. "We have to follow the prophecy to prosper after all," he cheekily stated. "Aunt Alexa, I’m here to show Mine the Book of Prophecies. Then later, we’ll talk together with Cian."
Alexa nodded in understanding. From there, he led Mineah down towards the tree.
"We call this the Tree of Valcrez, and this book inside its trunk is the Book of Prophecies of Valcrez," Nikolai disclosed to her.
Mineah blinked as they came forward. Looking at the huge open book, she frowned as she whispered, "It’s a blank book? There’s nothing inside."
"You’re wrong, Mine," Nikolai hummed. "Look."
Knowingly, he raised his hand to touch the pages of the book. There, the writings in it suddenly appeared.
"Whatever is written in here will only appear when accessed by a chosen one," Nikolai explained. "We’re actually not sure how this tree chooses who it wants to reveal the prophecies to, but as far as I know, all Exordiums and the royal family can access it."
There was a pause as he went over some of the pages before he continued. "The Prophets you met earlier are in charge of this place along with some of the important books inside this chamber. They would write the heavens’ messages that they receive in their dreams here, and they would store them for potential use," he further explained.
"Meanwhile, the Tree of Valcrez here acts like a judge. It does so by deteriorating whenever a piece of information written by the Prophets is wrong."
"That’s a lot to take in," Mineah mumbled as she let her curiosity flow. "Back then, I read in Rosela’s thoughts that you only need me to fulfill the Prophecy, Lai... What is that Prophecy? And how am I connected with it?"
