The Crown's Seduction
Chapter 144: Who Will You Save?

Chapter 144: Who Will You Save?

Nikolai dared not move while he basked in the afterglow and stunning view before his eyes. She was in a deep sleep, and the faint light inside their room was just enough for him to have a full view of his sunshine. Yes, Mineah was the sunshine that unexpectedly came into his life, and it seemed that today was yet another beautiful day he could look forward to.

"Who would’ve thought that I’ll end up being blessed like this by following that prophecy?" he murmured with a content smile. "Despite me not believing in it, I still reaped its benefits."

Truly, he had no intentions of marrying or even being in a marriage alliance before. It was only his mother and his officials that pushed him into it. Then again, his father did follow the prophecy, and he ended up being gifted with a son that harbored the Mark of Eternity. He supposed it was now his turn to follow the prophecy given by their kingdom’s prophet.

As most people already know, a prophet was a messenger who delivered messages from the Almighty and the Heavens. Unlike the Seers in Ebodia who hold the power to see the future, their prophets have to decipher their messages. For years, they had followed the prophecy, and so far, their kingdom has continued to prosper and succeed against potential downfall.

Thinking on it now, he was glad that he ended up following his mother in getting married for an alliance...

"I want her again," he murmured with a pained sigh. He was so hard again just by looking at her like this, but he knew must control himself...

Looking at her like this already made him feel like he had exhausted his wife too much. She was very accommodating to him, but he really should control himself more. After all, his wife was still human, and she wouldn’t be able to heal on her own. She was probably still sore at this point after the number of times he took her from night till dawn.

Letting out a sigh, Nikolai frowned when he suddenly felt the presence of her handmaidens nearing. They would probably check on his wife since she had been sleeping for quite some time now.

[Luis, tell Dani that I will be the one to attend to my wife. Just leave us some food by the door and I will get it,] Nikolai firmly instructed one of his shadow knights. [No one is to disturb us. We’re having our honeymoon starting today, and if there’s anything important, then inform me.]

Nikolai waited for his orders to pass, and as soon as Mineah’s shadow maidens left the hallway, Nikolai got up and opened the door to get the trolley of meals inside their room. Looking at the time, they only had an hour before lunch. Maybe he should wake up his wife now so she could at least eat first and then rest again if she wanted to.

His mind made up, Nikolai walked back to bed after preparing Mineah’s food on the table. He sat on the edges, his eyes lovingly lingering on his wife. He saw her move, and he found himself breathing hard as he stared at her bare chest and legs. The sheet that had covered her modesty had fallen off a while ago, and such a sight was starting to tempt him yet again.

"I’m tempted again," he painfully sighed. "I should just feed her some of my blood so that she’ll heal quicker and gain some more strength."

After a few more moments of just ogling at his wife, he impatiently whispered, "This won’t do at all. I feel like a lunatic at this point."

He cursed under his breath at his own behavior. In the end, however, he ended up hovering over his wife before inevitably starting to give her face a few gentle and sweet kisses. He gave one first on her forehead, then her eyebrows and eyelids, before going all the way down to her pointed nose, her rosy cheeks, and her supple lips.

He couldn’t get enough of her. Everything about her was just so perfect, and her lips were swollen enough that he felt like wanting to suck on them more just to make them swell even bigger.

"Lai," Mineah sluggishly muttered on his lips. Her eyes slowly fluttering open, she added, "I’m hungry..."

Hearing her request, Nikolai stopped kissing her but not before giving her one last smacking kiss on her lips. Only then did he move away from the bed to get her something to eat.

Grabbing the food he had previously prepared, he carefully put the tray on the bedside table before sitting by the edge of the bed. From there, he watched his wife pull the sheets up to cover herself before sitting up on the bed to lean on the headrest.

"Let me get dressed first," Mineah meekly said.

Nikolai couldn’t help but smile as he stared into her blushing cheeks. "It’s not like I haven’t seen it all, Mine. Did I somehow miss something?" he cheekily asked. "I made sure I feast not just with my eyes, but also with my lips and tong-"

"Stop it!" she shouted, her cheeks burning red despite her outburst.

Seeing her cute protests, Nikolai chuckled. "Alright. Come and let me feed my wife."

Rolling her eyes, Mineah sighed before opening her mouth for him. He then started giving her small pieces of meat and bread for her to eat.

"How long do we have left until we reach the encampment?" Mineah suddenly asked, her cheeks still red as she spoke. "Can we arrive there faster than we should?"

Nikolai blinked as he mulled over her words. She was avoiding staring at him, and he could tell that she was in a hurry now. It was probably because there was still no good news regarding her missing brother. As of now, Taro’s latest report said that the golden dragon was flying around the battlefield as if observing the situation. Thankfully, there were no reports of it taking action or harming any innocent lives so far.

He let out another sigh as he disregarded the thought of Vulcan residing in Ezekiel’s body.

’It could be another species,’ he thought.

There was no way Vulcan could physically show itself like that unless it had successfully merged itself with a powerful able to withstand its burning power. It wouldn’t even be able to shift into a dragon if its host was too weak.

"If you’re in a hurry to reach the encampment, then we can travel in my mist form ahead of others, Mine," he suggested while he continued to feed her.

"Alright, let’s do that then. My brother needs me," she eagerly answered with a smile. "Also, thank you, Lai."

He simply nodded at her before continuing to feed her in silence. Enjoying her presence, he did his best to ignore his doubts about the whole situation. However, there was one thing that his curiosity just couldn’t help but ask.

"Tell me, why are you so confident that you’ll be able to find your brother?"

Hearing his question, Mineah had this gentle smile on her face as she replied. "I’m a good tracker, Lai," she answered. "Like I said, I may lack in physical strength, but I’m pretty good at many other things."

Nikolai chuckled before he teased, "Right, you’re good at many things, Mine...Especially in pleasing your husband."

Mineah coughed when she felt the bread she was eating go into her throat. Quickly drinking the glass of milk Nikolai handed to her, she pouted at him as she recomposed herself. "Stop teasing me like that."

Despite her words, however, she honestly felt like she was still in a dream with Nikolai alive and well beside her. He ended her curse of not being able to be intimate with a man and, that somehow gave her so much hope that the remaining curse she still had would also be broken soon; that he’d be the one to truly free her from her cursed existence.

Nikolai pulled her in once again for a tight embrace. "Don’t worry, Mine. I’m sure everything will turn out just fine," he reassured her. "We’ll find your brother and the Seer, then end this curse one way or another."

’But that dagger... What if it’s really intended to be used on Nikolai’s heart?’

Mineah gritted her teeth at the stray thought. Even if it was what she needed to do, she would never do that! Shaking her head, she did her best to get rid of the negative thoughts inside her head. There was no way that Seer Beirut’s words implied that would be the case...

"Lai," she weakly called out his name.

"Hmm?" he hummed as she gently pushed him away to look at his face. In response, he smiled at her before tucking away some of her locks behind her ears."What is it?"

She smiled back. She was really curious to know his answer to a question she had.

"What if you have to choose between me and the world? Who will you save?" she asked with a smile, hiding her hesitation.

"You... I will save you, Mine," he firmly answered. "Because you’re already my world..."
