The Crown's Seduction -
Chapter 113: Upset
Chapter 113: Upset
Nikolai was cursing under his breath as he popped back inside one of the private rooms of the throne hall. Taro had telepathically told him that Exordium Eva was on her way to the library hall upon knowing that the Queen was there, which was only further reinforced by him feeling the woman’s presence nearing the longer they stayed there. As such, he had no choice but to leave that instant.
"Such a nuisance," Nikolai murmured.
"Lord Fritz also sent a word," Taro added as he handed him a missive. "This is from Lord Fritz. He says he’ll be back after the Midnight Sun arrives."
Seeing the message, Nikolai’s dark and gloomy expression suddenly lit up as he read Fritz’s prediction on when the Midnight Sun would come. "It’s near," he hummed with a smile.
Satisfied, he immediately dismissed Taro and made his way to the throne hall. He only needed to bide his time. Soon, he would be with her... and there was nothing anybody could do to stop it from happening.
[Your Majesty...] Nik called to him through their bond.
[Yes?]
[Master tasked me to go and watch her sister’s training at the Miran Ocean. Knowing that, how can you feast on Master’s form once I’m gone?] Nik shamelessly teased. [Are you planning on giving her another raven? If so, can it please be a female raven this time?]
Nikolai chortled as he shook his head. [Why? Are you feeling lonely already, Nik?] he teased back. [Do you want a mate for yourself now?]
[Why wouldn’t I feel that way? You and Master showed me too much of your public displays of affection that I couldn’t help but feel lonely myself,] the raven scoffed. [I just realized that this duty of becoming a royal pet has its consequences. It deprives me of the privilege to socialize with my kind and find my own partner, and I’m just trying to see if I can get more benefits from my gracious patrons.]
Nikolai burst out in laughter. He was unable to contain his amusement at how funny Nik was being right now.
[Fine. I’ll find you a suitable mate, but aren’t you free enough while doing your work at Miran Ocean and Valcrez Island anyway?] Nikolai scoffed. [I’m sure you can find a suitable partner around those parts, Nik. Just bring it with you once you come back. I’ll soon be with my wife anyway.]
Nikolai then cut the connection, allowing himself some time to think and take stock of the situation.
"Hmm... Darius will probably have a stopover here by then," he hummed with a smile.
Knowing his friend, he was sure that Darius would bring his wife with him to his kingdom so the sisters could reunite. But despite being sure, he would still wait for a formal letter from Darius before giving Mineah a word about it. And speaking of...
[Mine, I apologize for leaving you so suddenly. Although, I’m sure that you know why by now,] he sincerely apologized to his wife through their bond. He then quickly informed her, [Eva might try to compel you again. Can you handle it? Just replenish yourself with the energy you need from me anytime you want if you need it.]
Some time passed, and for some reason, Mineah didn’t reply to his message.
"Is she upset?" he murmured.
He couldn’t help but frown slightly at the current level of connection he had with his wife. While he wasn’t an envious person, for some reason, he envied his werewolf friend Darius for having a much stronger bond with his mate. Their kind was very exceptional whenever it came to their partner and mate. He wanted to connect with Mine in all possible ways, and he would just love to also always feel her emotions.
But before he could bug his wife some more, she suddenly chimed up, [I’m very busy at the moment. Don’t disturb me until I contact you first!]
Nikolai bit his lower lip at her tone. For some reason, he felt very uneasy. Then again, the last thing he wanted was for his wife to get upset with him.

Mineah was still frowning when she cut off the connection with Nikolai. He obviously left her hanging, and never in her entire life had she felt so disappointed at not being taken advantage of.
It took her a lot of time to compose herself after Nikolai left her. She even had to put her dress back into position herself! He had undone the upper part of her dress, and he didn’t even bother to help put it back up!
’I refuse to talk to him for the rest of this day!’ she inwardly grumbled to herself as she made sure that she was presentable. Once she was done, she quickly replaced her gloomy expression to better greet Lady Eva as she arrived.
"Here! I found it! This is the book you should read, Your Majesty," Lady Eva hummed as she placed the book on the table and sat in front of her.
Keeping a wide smile on her face, Mineah hummed, "Looks like you’re not too busy to the point of wanting of wanting to spare some time to accompany me here."
"Well, I love reading, Your Majesty," she replied. "I’m actually the only Exordium who spends a lot of time in this library hall."
Despite giving the woman her usual smile, Mineah couldn’t help but wonder what this woman was up to this time. She would probably try to compel her again seeing as she was inside a closed room and Nik wasn’t around to shower her with poop again.
Still, that just meant that she had to play things right. Grabbing more energy from Nikolai than she actually needed, Mineah started reading the woman’s thoughts.
[Now, I’ll find out the truth from you no matter what!]
"Try it then," Mineah commented aloud with a smile.
"I beg your pardon?" Lady Eva hummed with snapped brows.
Mineah didn’t even care that she slipped up. She was confident enough with what she was about to do. She was able to counter Minister Haman well enough when the man tried to compel her. He was no ordinary vampire since he also had exordium blood in him.
"I mean, let’s try that book then, Lady Eva," Mineah corrected herself as she extended her hand to Lady Eva. "May I?"
With her hand outstretched, Mineah waited for the woman’s next move. Predictably, instead of handing her the book, Lady Eva held her hand as she stared deeply into her eyes. Like before, she felt Eva’s energy coursing through her. She was compelling her again.
"Forget what King Nikolai told you about not saying anything about your curse," Eva commanded. "Tell me what is your curse is right now."
Mineah gritted her teeth as she prepared herself for something inevitable. "I knew this would happen, so know that your compulsion will never work on my wife," she droned out. "You won’t get an answer because my wife is not cursed."
"What?!" Eva hissed.
Channeling her right eye’s power, Mineah added, "You will read this book to me aloud. After you’re done, you will forget that this ever happened. You will not stop me and go to sleep as soon as I leave this room!"
And right there, Eva grabbed the book and started reading it for her loud and clear.
