Chapter 101: Chapter 101: The Hacker Bigshot Is Actually in the School?
How formidable can a hacker from an art university be?
Zhao Huai felt that the big shot was exaggerating the danger.
Even intentionally making the problem sound more difficult, so he could later ask the BOSS for more rewards.
"Old fox, scheme all you want, you don’t have much time left anyway."
Zhao Huai stood to one side, glancing at his wristwatch.
Zhang Neng gave him a disdainful look.
He, scheming? What was there to scheme about?
...
Dormitory 6, Room 301.
Wen Jingya hadn’t been around for the past couple of days, and her bed was empty.
Zhang Yanyan had indeed been expelled, having received the expulsion notice, she was now packing her belongings.
The atmosphere in the dormitory was oppressive; Yu Qing sat on a chair, staring blankly into space.
Tang Xueying came in with a bottle of boiled water, utterly panicked, "Qingqing, the Lu family has sent a tech whiz over, I reckon it won’t be long before they trace it back to you."
"What?" Yu Qing jumped up from the chair, first stiffening all over, then, once it hit her, she became as frantic as an ant on a hot pan, turning this way and that.
"Stop spinning, you’re making me dizzy," Zhang Yanyan gave her a look. "What’s there to be scared of? The worst outcome is being expelled, just like me."
"Expelled? That won’t do!" Yu Qing came from a poor background; her family had nearly bankrupted themselves to send her to this university.
If she was expelled, how could she face her family?
Realizing the severity of the situation, she couldn’t help but slump back into her chair, sobbing quietly.
"Oh, why be so pessimistic? Isn’t Yaya still around? Let’s call Yaya!"
Tang Xueying hurried to comfort her, pulling out her cell phone to dial Wen Jingya’s number.
Oddly enough, the call was greeted with a message that the number was out of service.
She hung up in disbelief, confirmed it was Wen Jingya’s number, and dialed again.
The result was the same, the number was reported as out of service.
"Strange, Yaya’s phone can’t be reached, it says the number is out of service."
"Heh." Zhang Yanyan let out a scornful laugh and tossed her clothes into the suitcase.
"I get it now; Wen Jingya used us as cannon fodder, didn’t she?"
Tang Xueying was at a loss for words, "What were you two thinking, stirring up trouble with Jiang Man for no reason?"
"I provoked Jiang Man because of Wen Jingya?" Zhang Yanyan felt like she’d been used as a pawn and was not pleased.
But she wasn’t pessimistic. She was confident that even if she didn’t continue at this art university, with her good looks, she could still become a small online celeb if not a big star.
If she was worried about the Lu family relentlessly pursuing her, she could just get plastic surgery, change her name, and start anew.
There were plenty of ways to make a living these days.
She really didn’t understand why Yu Qing was so stubborn, crying so miserably as if her parents had died.
"If you get expelled too, come find me later," Zhang Yanyan said as she couldn’t stand to watch anymore.
Tang Xueying raised an eyebrow, "Yanyan, have you found a place to go?"
"There’s a coal tycoon willing to sponsor me. He’s just a bit old. I used to despise him, but now I think I’ll make do. With his backing, even Lu Xingzhou wouldn’t dare mess with me too much."
"Coal tycoon?" Tang Xueying felt this title was very dated.
Zhang Yanyan smiled and zipped up her suitcase, waving goodbye, "I’m off."
"Stay in touch, okay?" Tang Xueying pointed to her phone.
She had to admire Zhang Yanyan’s composure in the face of such a scandal.
...
In the classroom, Jiang Man was awakened by a message.
She squinted at her phone, the message was from Wu Yingfan.
[Man sister, your hubby is having the school forum investigated.]
Jiang Man’s eyebrows lifted, surprised that Lu Xingzhou actually cared about her enough to really send someone.
[The person he sent is Zhang Neng, codename Mr. Z.]
Seeing the content Wu Yingfan had sent, Jiang Man’s eyes brightened.
She quite admired this Zhang Neng and had always wanted to meet the man behind the name.
"Wen Rui, handle the class committee voting for me. Whoever you vote for, I’ll vote for. Something’s come up, I’m off."
Jiang Man casually flung her backpack over her shoulder and walked with one hand in her pocket, exuding total boss vibes.
Seeing her about to leave, the student sitting in front pulled an excited face, "Sister Man, the class committee election is about to start, don’t go!"
"You guys have fun," Jiang Man waved her hand, pointing to a corner where Wen Rui was, "She represents me."
"Huh?" the classmates looked bewildered.
They couldn’t understand why the boss bothered with that poor kid.
Rumor had it her family was so poor they couldn’t even afford a musical instrument, let alone know how to participate in the class properly.
Jiang Man left the teaching building in high spirits, heading straight for the school’s computer room.
Since she hadn’t brought her laptop with her, she had no choice but to use the school computer room’s computers.
...
In the principal’s office, the principal, acting like a bodyguard, stood next to Zhang Neng, constantly tempted to peek at the screen.
Suddenly, the door to the office swung open.
Lu Xingzhou strode in, making a beeline for Zhang Neng.
His expression was indifferent, carrying a touch of authority, "How’s the investigation going?"
"Tracked down the poster’s IP," Zhang Neng replied, his mind not fully on this as he was eager to know who the two groups of hackers behind the scenes were.
"The result?" Lu Xingzhou sat on the guest sofa, crossing his legs with a swagger.
Zhang Neng couldn’t bear to take his eyes off the computer screen and replied, "BOSS, please wait a moment, it’s a bit complicated. There’s a group of hackers removing the poster’s traces and another restoring them..."
Before he could finish speaking, his eyes widened with excitement and he nearly jumped up, "Here they come! That group of forces has arrived!"
"What are you even talking about?" Zhao Huai was dumbfounded by Zhang Neng’s IT guru antics. They were just too obsessed.
Ding—ding—ding—
The computer suddenly emitted three shrill warning sounds, deafeningly loud.
Zhang Neng rapidly punched codes, trying to capture that IP address.
But the other party was aware of his intent and even attempted to trace his IP address.
Soon, a line of Chinese characters appeared on the computer screen:
[Mr. Z? Interesting, coming to check on such a trivial matter, aren’t you making a big fuss over a small issue?]
Zhang Neng typed back quickly:
[Taking the money to sweep away disasters for others, who are you?]
[Guess?]
The other party sent only two characters, but for some reason, the most ordinary words made Zhang Neng’s blood boil with a sense of provocation.
[How about we play a game? Let’s see who can first hack the library’s LED billboard and replace it with the principal’s big headshot.]
"Pfft," Zhang Neng couldn’t help but laugh.
"What’s so funny?" Lu Xingzhou asked sternly.
Zhang Neng gave a sheepish smile, "BOSS, a hacker has already infiltrated this computer of the principal and is now challenging me. Give me five minutes, I need to accept the challenge!"
"A hacker?" Lu Xingzhou looked skeptical.
An art school of second-tier stature, such a small place could produce a hacker, and one who could even match Zhang Neng at that?
He stood up involuntarily and moved to the computer screen.
Zhang Neng was already in a state of high tension, with over a dozen windows open large and small.
Hacking the library’s LED billboard was actually simple, but finding the principal’s big headshot was going to take a bit of effort.
Just as he was infiltrating the principal’s personal files and about to copy the passport-sized photo from the resume.
A forceful pop-up window appeared.
[You lost, I’ve already changed it.]
"What?"
Zhang Neng couldn’t believe his eyes.
Without looking up, he typed while asking, "Principal, in which direction is the library?"
"It’s right across, if you look to the left... What? This is outrageous! This is outrageous!"
The principal’s words had barely left his mouth when he rushed to the window, cursing and muttering to himself, and called his secretary to have someone immediately replace his big headshot.
Zhang Neng looked up, and when he saw a middle-aged man with male-pattern baldness and gold-rimmed glasses appear on the big LED screen across, he couldn’t help but blurt out, "Damn."
Lu Xingzhou and Zhao Huai turned their heads upon hearing this, and when they saw the ridiculous scene, both were speechless.
"BOSS, big trouble! This lousy school is packed with hidden dragons and crouching tigers. There’s a hacker master here who’s even more badass than me!" Zhang Neng couldn’t help exclaiming.
