Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Taking Her to Work

It must have been because she knew she needed to wake up early for work that Ye Wanwan awoke very early this morning, so early that Shen Yi hadn’t even risen yet.

In the bedroom, with the blackout curtains drawn, not a sliver of light penetrated, and Shen Yi, holding Ye Wanwan, was still deeply asleep.

Ye Wanwan was completely awake with not a trace of sleepiness left. She stared at the pitch-black ceiling for a while before carefully shifting her body, attempting to leave Shen Yi’s embrace.

But she had barely moved when Shen Yi was already startled awake.

Shen Yi, with his eyes still closed, patted Ye Wanwan subconsciously, his voice somewhat hoarse as he asked, "What’s wrong?"

"I’m getting up," said Ye Wanwan in a tiny voice, and then, feeling sorry for waking him, she added softly, "Sorry, I woke you up."

Shen Yi leaned his head down slightly and kissed her forehead, "It’s still very early; you don’t need to get up this early. Sleep a little longer."

He normally woke up naturally around 6:30, and although he hadn’t checked the time yet, Shen Yi was certain it wasn’t that late yet. Even if she was going to work, she didn’t need to get up so early.

"But I can’t sleep," Ye Wanwan guessed that it was still quite early, but she was already wide awake and couldn’t find any trace of sleepiness.

Shen Yi didn’t say anything, just held Ye Wanwan for another dozen seconds before reaching out in the darkness for the switch and turning on the bedroom light.

The sudden brightness was jarring, and Shen Yi lay holding Ye Wanwan in bed for another two minutes before finally letting go.

Ye Wanwan sat up in bed, and Shen Yi got up with her. Glancing at the time, it was just six o’clock.

"Do you want to sleep a bit more?" Ye Wanwan suggested. She couldn’t expect him to stay awake just because she couldn’t sleep.

However, Shen Yi just shook his head, "It’s fine."

"Then I’ll go wash up," Ye Wanwan said and crawled out of bed, sliding into her slippers to head for the bathroom.

Washing her face, brushing her teeth, changing clothes, then starting to do her makeup, time ticked away, and by the time Ye Wanwan was ready, it was almost 7:30.

The two of them went downstairs together and sat down at the dining table to have breakfast.

Shen Yi suddenly realized that this was the first time they’d had breakfast together since they got married, which he found somewhat amusing.

After breakfast, Ye Wanwan followed Shen Yi out the door.

She hadn’t planned on leaving with Shen Yi since their workplaces were in opposite directions, but Shen Yi insisted on taking her, so Ye Wanwan didn’t refuse.

All the way, Ye Wanwan gazed out of the car window, feeling a mix of anticipation and nervousness.

After all, this was her first day at work, and she was bound to feel somewhat uneasy.

At 8:30, the car stopped in front of the Galaxy Entertainment Company building, and Ye Wanwan took a deep breath before saying to Shen Yi, "I’m going to work now!"

After speaking, Ye Wanwan prepared to open the door to get out, but Shen Yi caught her wrist.

"What’s wrong?" Ye Wanwan asked, puzzled.

Shen Yi said, "Be careful at work; don’t get hurt by being clumsy. The house will send lunch over to you at noon, and I’ll come to pick you up after work."

"Okay, I got it," Ye Wanwan nodded, indicating she understood.

But Shen Yi still didn’t let go of Ye Wanwan’s hand, and she asked again, "Is there something else?"
