Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Picking a Leader for Myself
Ye Wanwan glanced at the cup of water in front of her and decided it was probably better not to drink it.
She couldn’t shake the feeling she had stumbled into some sort of secret organization.
It wasn’t that she was a conspiracy theorist; she just couldn’t imagine her interview would go like this.
Aren’t normal interviews conducted with several interviewers sitting there asking her all sorts of questions and expecting her to give her answers?
Seeing that no one was speaking, Tang Xiaorou adjusted her glasses with some embarrassment, coughed, and said in a feigned calm manner, "I am the person who contacted you this morning through the APP. My name is Tang Xiaorou, and I’m the director of the planning department."
"You briefly went over the job description for the planning assistant this morning, so what do you think about this job now?"
Ye Wanwan looked at Tang Xiaorou, blinked, and finally couldn’t help asking with curiosity, "Is this considered an interview? It seems rather casual, doesn’t it?"
Tang Xiaorou picked up on the distrust implicit in the other party’s words and irritably combed her bangs with her hand.
"Well, we are a live streaming platform, and the main focus is on the streamers, top to bottom. Most people who apply to our company are looking to become streamers."
"So the recruitment for other departments isn’t that formal. Plus, my last assistant was poached by someone, so I urgently need a new assistant now!"
At that, Tang Xiaorou was so annoyed she itched to march next door and give Zhang Lei a piece of her mind!
Ye Wanwan understood that it meant the whole department wasn’t taken seriously, hence the head of the department herself went through the recruitment of new employees.
"But there are also upsides to being overlooked. Generally, the workload is light, we can leave on time at the end of the day, and even if we’re busy, there’s absolutely no chance of a 996 or 007 schedule!"
"Intern for a month, with a starting salary of 6500 after becoming regular, company-provided social insurances and housing fund, afternoon tea, and one domestic trip per year. Want to give it a shot?" Tang Xiaorou finished speaking and stared unblinkingly at Ye Wanwan, waiting for her answer.
...
On the way back, Ye Wanwan was still a bit dazed, recalling the interview process that just happened, which felt incredibly surreal and nothing like what she had expected.
Her phone suddenly vibrated. Ye Wanwan snapped back to reality and picked it up to look.
It was a message from Shen Yi, asking how her interview went.
Ye Wanwan replied to Shen Yi, but then he called her right after.
"Hello," Ye Wanwan answered the phone.
Shen Yi’s voice came through, "How did the interview go? Did everything go smoothly?"
"Well~" Ye Wanwan drew out the syllable, uncertain about how to explain.
"Did the interview not go well?" Shen Yi hadn’t heard Ye Wanwan speak and assumed the interview had gone poorly.
"No," Ye Wanwan denied, then continued, "It’s just that it went a bit too smoothly, making me feel it’s somewhat unreal."
It was so smooth that it wasn’t the interviewers picking her, but her picking out a boss for herself.
"With your excellence, their choice to pick you shows they have good judgment," Shen Yi observed.
Hearing Shen Yi praise her, Ye Wanwan couldn’t help but smile, her voice carrying a hint of joy as she said, "I can start working tomorrow."
With the weekend nearly upon her, Ye Wanwan had initially planned to wait till next week to start.
But it seemed like they were afraid she might run off, so they asked her to report to the company right away tomorrow.
"Then congratulations, Wanwan, on finding a job successfully," Shen Yi said softly.
