Chapter 486: Chapter 407: Mad Secret High Priest

[Rand Kingdom Update Announcement: Teleportation gates between major main cities are now open. You can activate teleportation at the Crystal Defense Tower, with scheduled teleportation times set for the 1st, 10th, 20th, and 30th of each month in the morning. If you need to activate the Teleportation Circle at additional times, you must pay a teleportation fee, which will vary based on weight and quantity. You must declare in advance, and Undead can use the Lion Badge to register.]

"What, teleportation’s open?"

Traders among the Undead were struck by lightning out of a clear sky. All my diligent trading – what was it for? Just to save up some travel expenses, and now you’re opening a teleportation gate right out of the blue.

"Why do they get to have teleportation!"

Someone had a breakdown, but the vast majority of the Undead were cheering.

"Awesome! Teleportation’s finally open, folks; who gets it? I’ve had to sleep so many days just to get from Star Dragon City to Goliath."

The torturous journey of running across the map was replaced by magical teleportation. This was truly magical.

Efficiency was greatly boosted.

Especially for those who loved to travel, with the different architectural styles of the Rand Kingdom’s main cities and various local customs, being able to teleport to different main cities to enjoy the different scenery was a blessing for the everyday working people.

I could never afford to travel abroad in my lifetime, but in my dreams, I travel like crazy after falling asleep.

The Undead from all major regions of the Rand Kingdom began to cheer, except for those in the southern Griffin Territory. Why, when we’re all under the Rand Kingdom, do we not have it here?

As for other regions, heh, they’re busy resisting the Abyss and don’t have time for a bunch of people who opened up easy mode with no gaming experience. It’s a pity they can’t grasp the essence of the game.

Undead clustered in front of each main city, eager to try the Teleportation Circle, but then they were floored by the exorbitant prices.

Points were standard, but Hearts of Calamity weren’t taken in common quality anymore. The least they’d accept was Superior, and it was 10 per person!

By now, it had become an unspoken rule; only Hearts of Calamity, which could unexpectedly burst into a Calamity Shadow Region, were the real currency of the game.

But paying 10 Hearts of Calamity was one thing; each activation required a group of 100 people. Either you queued and waited, or you paid the whole cost yourself.

None of the Undead could afford that price on their own. If you had urgent matters, it’s one thing, but if not, you could choose to queue or just wait for the free teleportation gates that opened each month.

However, an update announcement from the Rand Kingdom got the Undead all fired up.

[Rand Kingdom Update Announcement: Undead may go to Goliath where we will open designated Teleportation Circles to the Black Marsh Kingdom.]

A new map was opening, and you could directly skip the travel time to the Black Marsh Kingdom!

The Undead started scraping resources together. Those who could wait decided to save their Hearts of Calamity, aiming to travel to Goliath in a couple of days through the free Teleportation Circle, then move on to the Black Marsh Kingdom.

Those with some savings among the Undead chose to set off right now. Playing the game wasn’t about being idle in the game.

One by one, the Crystal Defense Towers radiated light, swallowing the queued Undead.

In theory, you had to wait for 100 people, but even if it was over 100, you could still teleport. Once the gate opened, you could walk in.

No one wondered how much Lind could earn from this because all of this was "game mechanics." What did it have to do with Lind, an NPC?

The lengthy travel time was dramatically shortened, and the Undead, looking at Goliath before them, felt their gaming experience had leaped forward.

Sure enough, it paid to stick with Lind.

The Undead at the forefront made their move first.

"Do I really need to convert all my points and military merits?" Some of the Undead still didn’t understand.

"You just don’t get it. Once we leave the Rand Kingdom’s territory, many of our functions will be discarded, and since there are no scout guards for sale in the shops, it means we’re starting from scratch. Pointless to keep points; better to exchange them for resources."

"I see."

"Also, resources in the Black Marsh Kingdom are scarce, and the treatment of Undead is poor. Only the Undead from Moktelyria Province are somewhat better off, able to be hired as mercenaries. The stuff we bring over is as good as gold!"

The prepared Undead were ready to embark on their journey, with exploring new maps being one of the joys of playing.

By sending his carefully nurtured Undead to other regions, Lind was also taking a great risk. It was very possible they might never return, turning all the resources he had fed them into a waste.

With no real means to control the Undead, he was just that powerless.

Unable to prevent the Undead from leaving, Lind didn’t have anything to keep them around, and when idle, they would cause trouble.

Fortunately, his construction team was also preparing, using the various materials provided by the Undead to build defense towers and connect to the Black Marsh Kingdom.

At the same time, Rand and his teammates were pushing ahead on their journey.

Despite changes in the terrain, the orientation of countries remained roughly the same, and it wasn’t difficult to find maps of Rand Kingdom and the surrounding nations.

Maps of the Rand Kingdom could be purchased in shops, while for Black Marsh Kingdom’s maps, one could direct buy from the Undead of Black Marsh Kingdom.

They set out from Black Island and after completing their preparations, they began their long trek eastward.

Only by moving quickly could they keep up the pace!

However, the bragging about teleportation circles on the forums broke their defense.

"Damn, what?"

"There’s a teleportation gate?"

"They got teleported to Black Marsh Kingdom for just 10 Superior Hearts of Calamity!"

Rand was silent.

As a game player guild that had earned a fortune through trading, 10 Superior Hearts of Calamity were quite expensive, but compared to all the time they wasted traveling back and forth, it was nothing.

To set out first, then arrive last, was to be fully ridiculed.

Now they were left with several options: continue on their path, which would take another half month to cross the border aimlessly searching for signs of human life in Black Marsh Kingdom, or turn back to Black Island, travel to Goliath through the Black Island teleportation circle, then set out from Goliath to Black Marsh Kingdom to catch up with the main force.

"Let’s go back!" Rand made a quick decision.

Clearly, it was right to follow the main storyline.

For now, Lind was the protagonist of this version, so they would temporarily follow his lead, but after this version...

"Let’s go!"

...

In the Frozen Soil Mountain Range, a black figure pressed on against the Gale.

Ahead, at the ruins of a church, a group lay prostrated on the ground, muttering as if chanting something.

"This is the place that Dominus mentioned, where the Mad Secret Sect resides?"

A cloak was removed, revealing an ugly face.

Renzo, the first Mad Secret Emissary to follow Lind, believed that to become strong, one either needed a bodily gift or limitless perseverance.

The gift of the body was innate, but wasn’t perseverance also a gift of the spirit?

Lind had collected some miscellaneous information from the Undead, willing to offer more opportunities to those with the potential for improvement; to boost oneself with resources was no issue.

Within the Frozen Soil Mountain Range, a group of Mad Secret Sect Believers wandered, holding back Renzo’s further progression with a Magic Potion formula; here, it was very likely they had a Heroic Rank Magic Potion formula.

Undead had once been attacked here by an enemy called the Mad Secret High Priest, a boss-level adversary.

As Renzo approached, the Mad Secret Cultists turned their heads to look at him, their faces so twisted and deformed they scarcely seemed human as they gaped unconsciously.

Crimson Flames burst from the palm of his hand, Renzo proved his identity.

The Believers parted ways automatically, revealing a tall and gaunt figure, shrouded in a red robe, approaching in a low glide.

This must be the Mad Secret High Priest, its hunched figure looming over Renzo, breathing out Crimson Flames with each breath.

Renzo bowed his head, showing his respect and submission.

He would join them here, slowly learn their power, and eventually burn these madmen, who were utterly consumed by the insanity of the Mad Secret Overlord, to death.

The red flame flickered in the pupils of Renzo’s eyes, but his heart remained utterly unshaken.
