Chapter 485: Chapter 406: Teleportation Circle

There must be something inside the Royal City Dungeon, Lind was certain.

However, as the Undead dragged out corpse after corpse as spoils of war, his expression turned rather interesting.

These things looked awfully familiar.

They were all Limb Attaching Worms!

Additionally, the Undead had also encountered attacks from the noble bloodlines deep within the dungeon; some nobility from hostile nations had been trapped in the dungeon as hostages, and with the complete collapse of the Ring of Magic, they had mutated into monsters.

But their power was not that strong, far from a match for the Undead who had already swept through the Great Rift.

So Lind called the Crimson Knight directly.

"Eradicate the enemies inside."

"Yes!"

With the arrival of the Crimson Knight, it was as if the Undead suddenly gained a powerful ally, and with a main tank, the fighting environment became much more comfortable.

The push to clear continued for only three days, after which the entire Royal City Dungeon was thoroughly cleaned out.

Soldiers carrying torches led the way, with Lind walking in the middle.

All the way to the deepest part of the dungeon.

This was the ultimate secret, now guarded by the Undead.

"My lord!" The Undead mimicked the Land Soldiers by pounding their fists against their chest plates, causing clangs as their fists struck their armor.

Two Undead dressed in Dragonized Soldiers’ armor swayed their tails as if still alive, their dragon eyes also moving. If it were not for Lind’s orders, a war between the Undead and NPCs might have erupted long ago.

Even so, the Undead easily induced unease.

Their mimicry was not haphazard; many Undead had already advanced to become Elite Soldiers, or third class, the same level as the Land Soldiers, with the privilege of wearing the Rand Legion’s Golden Armor. When they traveled, they received the same respect from regular NPCs.

But during times of conflict, they would still choose to wear the highest attribute set from the Abyss.

Lind nodded slightly, acknowledging their greeting before approaching the wall the Undead were guarding.

A Teleportation Magic Circle!

The Undead next to it started to chat, ignoring the NPC as if it was none of their concern.

"What’s he doing?"

"Plot, what else could it be? But this looks like an abandoned Magic Circle."

"Why are there bugs in the Royal City Dungeon? Can’t be that there really are Bug Tribe creatures, can it?"

As the Undead conversation grew more off-topic, Lind focused on the Magic Circle. If he was not mistaken, this two-way Magic Circle should lead to the Underworld beneath Star Dragon City.

That was the place where Melulan had been transformed into an insect and which possessed many Magic Circles.

Only that explained why Limb Attaching Worms would appear inside the Royal City Dungeon.

"Seal it off!"

Lind turned and left, then ordered the soldiers to drive all the Undead out of the Royal City.

The Undead, happy to receive their mission rewards, waited eagerly for the plot to develop, not feeling the slightest issue with being expelled—anyone could see that there was surely more story to follow.

The Royal City Dungeon was sealed off once again.

Lind called for the Flying Dragon Alex, who at the beginning could be somewhat intimidating but now struggled to keep up with the version progress.

It was unknown whether the Flying Dragon had breeding isolation; if not, it could provide the Undead with mounts or something similar.

Inevitably, it seemed to be destined as a mount.

The flying dragon spread its wings and soared into the sky to bring Dome.

Unable to match the speed of a civilian airplane, the flying dragon took two days for the round trip, and whether it slacked off during that time was uncertain. After arriving, Dome hardly had time to rest before Lind led him into the Royal City Dungeon.

"Yes, it’s one of the teleportation circles leading to the underworld," Dome nodded in confirmation.

There was a magic circle connecting from some unknown location in a Cyclops’ lair to the underworld beneath Star Dragon City.

There was another magic circle, from someplace in the Black Marsh Kingdom, that connected to the underworld beneath Star Dragon City.

And now, there was a magic circle in the Royal City Dungeon that also connected to the underworld beneath Star Dragon City.

So, had the magic circles that Lind had temporarily dismantled for safety also connected to various critical areas?

"What might it be?" Lind pondered.

Dome offered his speculation, "A hub."

The underworld beneath Star Dragon City was a hub.

In the time that followed, Lind summoned Miss Troll to delve into the Royal Palace Library with him, and Dome followed as well.

But as they pored over historic records, even Miss Recorder Officer Doris was brought in, and the final answer was the same, there was no record of the teleportation circle beneath the Royal City.

This meant that the officials were not aware of it, or at least, it was not permitted to be recorded.

Lind got the same answer when he asked Rania, and even the Crystal Mage was clueless about it.

The likelihood of a hub for the magic circle was slim; equating teleportation distance with energy consumption, Cyclopes—a legendary magic creature—did not exist near the Rand Kingdom. They might have come from the other end of the Xilu Continent.

If the distances didn’t match up, there was no need for a hub.

Inside the library, Miss Esha suddenly looked up and said, "Could there be another possibility, that it’s not a hub, but a destination?"

"A destination?"

To use the Magic Circle to traverse vast distances, just to reach the underworld of Star Dragon City.

What was there?

Apart from the berserk Limb Attaching Worms from the Black Marsh Kingdom, there were only Cyclopes and... Starweed.

"Miss Esha, have you heard of ’Starlet’?"

"I haven’t," Esha shook her head, a brief look of perplexity crossing her Troll features as she pondered, looking incredibly naive, "But I have seen stories about the children of the stars, said to be a group of powers from beyond our world, who accidentally entered our realm. Their powers are different from Magic, even distinct from the forces in other material planes."

The concept of a material plane was vast.

For instance, in legends where Elves lived in their own world, that place could be considered an independent material plane, accessible by foot if one found the way.

The star children, completely separate from the Magic World, reminded Lind of the "Miners" who had provided him with a Magic Potion recipe, where the ingredient mentioned was not Heart of Calamity, but Starchild Scales.

"Let’s leave the investigation here for now."

Though Lind didn’t have many exemplary traits, his ability to hold back from wasting energy on unanswered questions over a short period was one, controlling his curiosity.

"Mr. Dome, since you’re here, I think it’s a good opportunity to activate the Teleportation Circle."

Yes, Lind had always wanted to activate the teleportation circle. Although there were some constraints with energy, it wasn’t entirely unmanageable, let the Undead pay for the travel expenses themselves.

It was an opportunity to use the remaining teleportation circle on the Black Marsh Kingdom side as a coordinate to let the Undead scout ahead, which could be considered both "plot" and "benefit."

If progress was fast enough, perhaps before Lind’s journey to Magic Land, he could even take down the Great Rift of the Black Marsh Kingdom.

The Teleportation Circle, it was time to be opened.
