"Find someone else to be my wife...?" Alanis scoffed pacing around the room. "She can’t be serious." He stopped walking, his hands on his waist, towel barely hanging on his waist as he tried to figure out what he had done wrong.
How he offended her...
Why she suddenly hate him so much...
After everything he did for her, after risking his life to save hers, all he got was a slap. Not even a tiny whimsy thank you. Not even a little appreciation.
She told him she’d prefer those useless thugs be with her than him.
He’s done. He was done playing Mrs nice, she could leave him if she wanted to. He has been delusional to think he had a chance, to think his wife still loved him. This is a different life, a wife where things are different.
Things are opposite from how it was in his first life. Harlow isn’t the one chasing him this time, he is chasing her. He’s the one begging for her love. The one begging to be her husband.
Alanis ground his teeth as he regretted the thoughts immediately. He will never leave her no matter how much she hates him. He must win her over, he must make her fall in love with him.
Alanis was about to walk into his closet when Gus arrived. "Boss." The man called and Alanis turned to meet his gaze.
The news of Alanis and Harlow had been on the local news last night. Since the news was about Alanis Hamilton and Harlow Blackwood, more media outlets turned interested in the news. It is said that Alanis was seen carrying the Blackwood’s youngest daughter intimately after cutting off his engagement with the eldest Claudia Blackwood.
Gus had seen the news, it’s the reason he had arrived so early and to also tell Alanis about Claudia’s action yesterday.
"I’m not in the mood to talk Gus." Alanis shunned him. The matter with his wife was more important than whatever information Gus had for him.
"Oh, you will be boss. Your wife is outside talking to a man, they seem a little..." Alanis started walking outside without letting Gus finish. He knew who the man was without even thinking, but what could he be doing here this early?
He entered the elevator, forgetting the only thing he had on was his towel loosely slung on his waist.
When the elevator doors opened and he strode into the reception area, the effect was immediate. Eyes widened, jaws dropped, and a few women visibly swayed, clutching at the desk or the arms of their chairs as if their knees might give way.
Alanis wasn’t just handsome, he was breathtaking. His chiseled physique looked like it had been sculpted by the gods themselves, every line and curve a testament to sheer perfection.
In the city, he was more than just a man. Alanis was *Caliente*, the demi-god every woman dreamed of. The hottest man in town, the one whose presence made hearts race and temperatures rise.
And he was used to the attention, even enjoyed it at times. Women threw themselves at him without hesitation.
But not her.
She was the exception.
The one woman who despised him with every fiber of her being.
And Alanis knew exactly why she hated him.
Maybe her formal life is somehow connected to this one.
Maybe even if she has no idea, she somehow feels the pain he caused her in the past. Like he has felt a thousand times, he regrets ever hurting her or causing so much pain to her.
He should have never neglected his family no matter what.
He stepped out of the hotel only to see his silly wife laughing while she spoke to that man. Andrew Phillipsburg.
"Don’t tell me you decided to dump me for that?" Alanis walked over to where they were his jealousy delectable. He had no idea what Harlow saw in this man.
What the hell did Andrew have that he didn’t?
Alanis Hamilton was everything any woman could dream of. He was devastatingly handsome, filthy rich, and completely prepared to give his love wholeheartedly to her. Hell, he had gone as far as changing his appearance. His clothes, his demeanor, even the way he spoke, all in a desperate attempt to win her over.
It was pathetic. And he knew it.
The Alanis Hamilton of the past would never stoop to such a level for anyone. He was a man who stood above the rest, a man who didn’t chase. Women fell at his feet without him lifting a finger, and he liked it that way.
But for her...
For this one woman, who treated him like trash, who looked at him like he was the last man on Earth she would ever want. He would break all his rules. He would chase. He would beg.
Because she wasn’t just any woman. She was the only one he wanted.
And it was maddening. She made him question everything he thought he knew about himself.
"Mr Hamilton." Andrew greeted with a polite smile. Harlow who was quite surprised Alanis chased her in his towels frowned. He’s the last person she wanted to see.
"I told you we are over, what else do you want from me? Sign the divorce papers Mr Hamilton we’re done." She said coldly, her face emotionless.
"Are you playing games with me, woman? If you’re using him to make me jealous it won’t happen."
"We made an agreement, there’s no way you’re breaking it now," Alanis said.
"You broke it first when you..." Harlow paused glancing at Andrew. She felt so ashamed and angry thinking about it. She was so mad at Alanis and then more mad at herself.
"When I what?" Alanis asked ignoring the people watching them and the flashes of their cameras on his face. In his first life, he also got this much attention, but it was Harlow who was in his position now.
"You threw yourself at me. What was I supposed to do?" Harlow’s cheek turned pink immediately.
"Who knows if you didn’t send those men to try to take advantage of me so you could seem like the hero." She eyed him.
"What? Why would I do that?" He asked, this time pissed at her words. Why would he send four men to touch his wife because he wants to be the hero? He wasn’t that cheap.
"I’m tired of your schemes Mr Hamilton." She said indifferently.
"Schemes?"
"I saved your life and you call it schemes?" Alanis’s voice was low, the last thing he wanted was for people to know the reason for their fight.
"If you want me back as your wife Mr Hamilton, kneel and apologize for what you did." Her words were cold and distant. Harlow, his wife wanted to humiliate him before everyone present at the hotel.
Those who were life-streaming were, she knew that, yet, she wanted to humiliate him.
Alanis smiled, this must be a joke. Harlow wanted him to kneel and apologize for saving her, for risking his life for her.
"Will you forgive me if I do so?" Harlow smiled. Is this man willing to kneel before her and apologize?
"We’ll see about that Mr Hamilton."
Alanis nodded. His knees buckled till they touched the ground. Harlow smirked at his action.
"Do whatever you want Me Hamilton, but I’d rather die than be with a man like you."
