Chapter 176: ALANIS’S OPEN CONFESSION

Chapter 176: ALANIS’S OPEN CONFESSION

"My wedding, Harlow," she said, her voice saccharine sweet. "Mother just announced that I’m going to be married to George." Claudia’s eyes shifted to Alanis waiting for a reaction she never got. She frowned.

She wanted to see him get mad and beg her not to marry his brother, why was Alanis acting indifferently?

She knew he loved her, so why is he pretending now?

She had just declared she would belong to someone else and he’s just standing there?

Harlow smiled at Claudia’s words. She should have known her sister was a desperate one. But that’s a good idea too, at least now, she would be able to get her revenge on her again.

"Then hurry up," Harlow said smoothly, picking her glass from one of the waiters passing by. "Let’s toast to that. I’m so happy for you, sister." Harlow’s words shocked everyone in the room.

Including Garth and Elisa.

But Elisa wasn’t at all surprised. If she didn’t know Harlow so well, she would think that her stepdaughter was excited for Claudia. This was clear mockery. She frowned. Harlow was mocking Claudia.

If she thinks she has won the fight then she should wait and see everything they have planned for her. This is the beginning of her end. Claudia will finish her off completely.

Alanis also picked a glass from another waiter and raised his cup ready to toast.

Garth opened her mouth to speak, but before she could, Alanis beat her to it. "Before we toast, I want to use this moment to appreciate my beautiful wife here. This gala is a symbol of our love and devotion to each other from now onwards." Claudia frowned at his words.

"Though our relationship has brought up a few misunderstandings in the past. It had been a little shaky with so much drama. I want to let everyone know, Harlow here is the woman I’m going to spend the rest of my life with." He said.

"I want to let everyone know how much I love my little villain. My heartbeat and everything..." Alanis continued, his words made a certain someone’s heart race wildly in her chest. She hadn’t expected that this man would openly confess this before everyone.

Was he acting or was he being so serious? She wondered as she stared at him with wide eyes sending signals for him to stop but he kept going.

"To prove my love for you my villain and wife, the Hamilton will always host these types of gala every year, where everyone would join us to celebrate our union together." He declared and everyone clapped for them.

Awws and murmurs flew around the room and everyone adored both people. "This is true love." Someone said.

"Oh, I love this for them." Another person said.

"I love you, my villain." Alanis leaned close to press his lips on her forehead. Though she didn’t respond or say anything to him, no one noticed because they were too busy drooling over the couple before them. In their eyes, Alanis and Harlow are a perfect match made in heaven.

Every woman in the room wanted an Alanis in their lives, a man who would declare his love for them before everyone in the room.

Claudia frowned at this. To her, Alanis has gone overboard with this game because of her marriage announcement to George. He was jealous. Well, two can play the game.

She would make him hunger and taste for her love, she would make sure he begs her before all these people and declare his love for her again.

"A toast to me and George." Claudia suddenly said hurrying to take a sip of her wine.

"And a toast to a long-lasting relationship between Alanis and Harlow," Alanis announced and everyone cheered for them.

Everyone in the room took a sip of their wine and only then did the party fully begin. The music started playing and a few guests were already at the dance floor with their partners, dancing and enjoying the night.

Though Claudia had tried to ruin it for everyone, her plans failed terribly as Harlow and Alanis were back in the spotlight again.

While Harlow kept greeting the guests and responding to their congratulations, the devil beside her leaned in slightly, his lips next to her ears. "You still haven’t danced with me tonight."

Harlow arched a brow at him. "And I don’t intend to."

He chuckled, undeterred. "We’ll see about that."

As he said those words, the music shifted. The first slow dance of the evening was about to begin, and Alanis wasn’t planning to let Harlow escape.

He held her arms, leading her to the dance floor and the other guest there gave way for the couple to have their dance. They were the couple of the night anyway.

"Everything I said earlier, I meant it, my villain." Alanis’s voice was low, intimate, laced with something raw. "I’ve fallen in love with you."

Harlow’s heart stuttered in her chest.

She wasn’t expecting a confession tonight, especially not from him.

A storm of emotions swirled inside her, but she refused to let them show. Instead, she tilted her chin slightly, her expression composed. "And what am I supposed to do with that information?" she asked, deliberately avoiding his gaze.

His grip on her waist tightened just enough for her to feel it.

"Don’t you feel anything for me?" he pressed, his tone serious now, almost desperate. "Even a little?"

His dark eyes searched hers. "Can’t your heart skip for me just once?"

Harlow’s heart was doing far more than skipping, but she wouldn’t admit it.

She felt like she was suffocating. Her mind warred with her emotions, trying to hold onto the hatred she had nurtured for so long. She had sworn she would never love this man again.

Not after everything he had done.

"Stop forcing me to love you, Mr. Hamilton," she said, her voice sharp even as it trembled slightly. "I told you from the start, my love is the one thing you will never have. No matter how hard you try."

His jaw clenched, but before he could respond, the music swelled, and other couples joined in the dance.

From the sidelines, Elisa, Claudia, and Garth observed the pair closely. No one could hear the words being exchanged between them, but to an outsider, they looked perfect, like a husband wooing his bashful wife. Harlow played the role flawlessly, smiling as if Alanis’s touch didn’t set her skin on fire.

Then, the music shifted.

Time to switch partners.

A figure stepped between them, cutting Alanis off effortlessly.

"Hello, sweetheart."

Harlow’s eyes widened in shock.
