Just as Alanis had expected, the news of Harlow Blackwood becoming the new CEO of Hamilton Corp spread through the city like wildfire. People couldn’t stop talking about it, though most were left speechless at first, their shock quickly turned into whispers, rumors, and outright disbelief.

The name rolled off their tongues with scorn. How could Alanis Hamilton, one of the sharpest minds in business, step down for someone like her? It didn’t make sense. The only explanation, they said, was that she must have bewitched him.

This was truly the downfall of the Hamilton’s empire. Harlow was a known reject, there is a reason her father had publicly disowned her in the first place. Why would the Hamiltons accept such a person? Not to think of making her the CEO of the prestigious company.

"There’s no way he willingly stepped down for her," one voice echoed in the sea of gossip.

"She’s nothing but a failed wife, a failed daughter, a failed woman." sneered another.

"She embarrassed him once already, what kind of man gives her another chance? She doesn’t deserve it." Another employee said a deep frown marred her face.

To most, Harlow was a joke. They didn’t see a capable woman standing beside Alanis. All they saw was the remnants of his past mistakes. In their eyes, she was nothing but a shallow, spoiled daughter of the Blackwood family, someone who had always been in her sister Claudia’s shadow.

"She’s not even smart," someone scoffed. "Everyone knows Claudia’s the brains of the family. Harlow? She’s just... there."

"She probably begged him," another said with a dismissive laugh. "Begged and cried until he felt sorry for her."

"Or worse offered her body to him, like every slut. But not to worry, when Mr Hamilton geta tired of her, he’d toss her aside like every other woman he’s been with."

The more they talked, the crueler their words became.

The staff of Hamilton Corp were in uproar, they wanted to know why their boss gave his position to his ex-wife, but of course, they dared not utter a word in her face. If they did, they were looking for trouble for themselves.

Anna being the president of Hamilton was no news to George or her step sister Claudia. Claudia sat in her wheelchair going through the internet and stalking Harlow’s new movie when she saw the news about Harlow becoming the new president of Hamilton Corp.

Rather than being upset as always, she laughed. Her useless sister was the new CEO of Hamilton Corp. She burst out laughing again, hitting her chair as she laughed out of control.

This was a perfect plan. Harlow ruined their company, and she saved it with her marriage to George. She smiled.

Harlow just keeps getting herself in trouble every time and she takes advantage of every situation.

"Take me to my parents," Claudia ordered her maids and they started pushing her wheelchair. It was an electric chair, but she just wanted to punish her maids.

Since her plans didn’t push through, there was no point pretending anymore. Claudia had confessed to her parents about everything. She told them, her faking illness in the hospital was only a ploy to lure Harlow and get the movie role.

She told them, she thought Harlow would pity her and give her the role, but it turns out her father is heartless. Though Frank frowned at her actions, Elisa had sweet-talked him into forgiving his daughter.

In her words, Claudia is a child and doesn’t know what she is doing. Meanwhile, Claudia was older than Harlow.

"Mother," Claudia called when she arrived in the lounge, she waved her hands for her maids to leave and they all did. Right now she regretted not using that broken vase on Harlow instead. At least she wouldn’t be suffering like this.

The next time she meets that bitch, she would make sure to kill her with her bare hands. There’s no point trying to play the games of her past, getting rid of Harlow quickly was promising. She would have enough time to make Alanis fall in love with her.

"What is it?" Elisa stared at her daughter. Both she and Frank were just discussing Claudia’s wedding to George. As opposed to Harlow’s Elisa wanted a grand wedding for her daughter.

She wanted Claudia’s wedding to be the biggest in town.

"Have you seen the news?" Claudia asked unable to contain her smile.

"No, we’ve been busy with other things. What happened?" Elisa asked turning a little bit impatient. They had just two weeks before Claudia’s marriage and needed to prepare for it.

"Harlow’s the new president of Hamilton Corp." She laughed. Elisa laughed with her daughter, it was the only way she could express how stunned she was. But Frank didn’t laugh. He frowned.

He frowned because he had only just discovered recently that Harlow Wasn’t who he thought she was. With the way she has handled the Diamonds company, he was so sure she would do an excellent job for the Hamiltons. She might make them even bigger than he is and ever will be.

Frank shook his head gently already getting upset at his thoughts. He will never allow it. Even if the Hamiltons were his in-laws, he would never let them be as big as he is.

At this rate, he has to do everything to get Miss H on his side again.

"What were they thinking?" Elisa laughed out again with her daughter. Claudia was the happiest in the room. In the past, Harlow was always in her shadow, she couldn’t even excel as a housewife. The only thing she knew her sister was good at was giving birth and making diamonds.

She had begged her father to give Alanis Miss H and she took the glory for the woman’s work. In this life, she would do the same and take the glory for it. But that would be after she has seen Alanis crumble because of her sister.

"They’re so stupid." She added. This would be the worst decision the Hamilton’s have ever made. Claudia has sworn to make Alanis regret marrying her sister.
