Just when Harlow thought she would never get any message from her father’s assistant, here he was.
’How are you doing Miss H?’
Harlow read the message over and over again. She smiled. She knew the Blackwood’s empire wasn’t doing well, what she had destroyed would take years to recover no matter who they hired and she would never help them anymore.
Her father can as well depend on Claudia to run the business since he doesn’t want to see her anymore.
Harlow ignored the message and turned off her phone. She couldn’t go on with the meeting with her team anymore because she knew that husband of hers was waiting outside for her.
They rounded up the discussion and Harlow promised to conclude everything in their next meeting. She told them about her new film and that she would need their help with little things and they all agreed. For now, she was focused on making the biggest movie in the world.
As she stepped out of the building she was greeted by her injured sister, already putting an act before her.
""I... I’m sorry if I offended you. But I can’t stop accidents. I... I didn’t mean to harm myself." She cried out.
"I... I thought I was going to die and I wanted you to be the last person I see, please believe me Lanis." She hit the window again, gently this time.
Claudia saw her sister’s image from the glass and turned to her. "Harlow, Harlow please forgive me, I’ve done something terrible to you. I don’t deserve to speak to you." She rushed to Harlow holding her sister’s hands as tears fell down her eyes.
Right now she looked so pitiful. She looked like a fragile glass that could shatter at any moment. This was her game in the past and whenever Harlow reacted the right way, Alanis would always take her sister’s side and insult her.
"What happened to you Claudia, you looked bruised?" Harlow asked staring at her disfigured form. She knew this was all Claudia’s game and decided to play along too.
"I... I just got involved in an accident." Claudia said pitifully, wiping her tears.
"And you couldn’t go to a hospital?" Harlow asked to see her sister silent for a while. She started crying again, "Harlow, please I’m so sorry." She said.
"I... I thought I was going to die so I wanted to see Lanis for the last time. I’m sorry Harlow. I thought my feelings for him would die after you stole him away, but I was wrong. I was so wrong. Every day all I think about is committing suicide."
"Oh please don’t say that. What ever shall I do if you die now?" Harlow mocked.
"Come, let me take you to the hospital." Claudia smiled at her sister’s words, she had no idea her sister could see the smile this time.
"No don’t worry. It’s clear Lanis doesn’t want to see me anymore. I’m being a burden to you two, I should leave." She said and started walking away.
"No Claudia, I insist. I would never forgive myself if I leave you this way." Harlow held her sister’s hands before she could leave. Surprisingly, her stupid husband didn’t step out of the car to attend to his sweetheart.
Did he hate her sister so much?
Or was this all his games?
Alanis glared at his wife. What is this silly woman up to this time, forcing him to spend time with a woman he clearly doesn’t want to see? A woman he despised with every fiber of his being.
When the car door opened Claudia hurried inside quickly and closed the door quickly before Harlow could enter. She’s gotten what she wanted and she would never let her sister ruin it for her.
"Harlow, I’m afraid if you come in, the space might get too congested and I might suffocate," Claudia said.
"Lanis can take me to the hospital while you use my car," Claudia suggested. The Harlow of before would argue and throw tantrums in front of her husband, but the Harlow standing before them didn’t care.
"Do whatever you want," Harlow said turning to the man who glared at her she smiled. "Please take good care of my sister." Alanis frowned at her words. He didn’t like the game his silly wife was playing with him.
If this is her payback because of everything she’s done, then she should get ready to suffer.
"He will," Claudia responded with a smile.
Alanis quickly stepped down from the car, "Muss, take my sister-in-law to the hospital and make sure she gets better. I want to stroll a little with my wife." He closed the door before Claudia could utter a word. The chauffeur bowed and started driving away.
"No, Alanis," Claudia called, hitting the glass gently. She frowned. This cannot be happening to her, Alanis cannot abandon her this way, not like this. She loves him and she knows he loves her.
Both Alanis and Harlow waved Claudia goodbye as the car drove away.
"You should have gone with her," Harlow said calmly.
"Setting me now with someone else are we?" Alanis caught up to her in no time. "Since when did we agree I wanted to be with another woman other than you?" He asked.
"I never asked her to come."
"But you were ready to ditch your man for your sister." He was marveled.
"Who says you’re my man?" Harlow turned to look at him, her green eyes glowing beneath the sunset. It was evening already and she couldn’t believe she had spent her entire day with someone she despises so much.
Alanis deep his hands in his pocket as he stared at the woman walking beside him. The wind blew a few strands of hair to her face and she blinked.
He had married a beautiful woman but never cherished her like he should in his past. But in this life...
"I am your man. You’s alone." He declared.
"I thought you loved my sister." She suddenly asked looking ahead.
"I don’t." Alanis’s response was quick.
"You’re the only one I love." He turned back to look at the woman beside him.
"Why do you love me, Mr Hamilton? To have sex with me?" Sex was all men really wanted. In her past, this man never returned home and the two times he did, was to have sex with her. She gulped the pain down her throat.
"I don’t want your body. That’s the last thing I want from you."
"What exactly do you want?"
"The tiny thing inside your chest. I want it to beat so fast for me again." Harlow stopped in her tracks, her eyes turning moist.
"I’m sorry to disappoint you, but there’s no heart in here." She pointed at her chest. All that’s left is the empty space in there. A space no one can replace.
"Then get ready, because I’ll build a new heart very soon." He smiled. Harlow opened her mouth to speak but before she could, a black limo appeared right in front of them and the chauffeur stepped out of the car.
"I’m sorry I’m late sir."
