"I’m here to ask why you stepped down as the president of Hamilton Corp," Charlotte asked. She couldn’t imagine anyone else being as good as her grandson when it came to handling the company. But what she couldn’t tell was why he just stepped down without any warning, especially when the company needed him the most.

"You stepped down?" Garth asked perplexed, she had no idea Alanis did much since she had been too invested in fighting Harlow and setting her children free from their punishments. And now, she didn’t like the sound of what she was hearing.

Why would Alanis step down just when the company was slowly coming up again? She had noticed his bad decision-making recently and didn’t like it at all.

George was not yet ready to handle the company.

"What were you thinking Alanis? First, you broke your engagement with Claudia, the only person who can lift us from suffering, and now you have stepped down from being the president? What would become of us?" Garth stated.

"What would your father say? This is why I cry everything for Edwards’s death."

"There should be an election happening soon because I know you wouldn’t just make any decision without a plan," Charlotte asked her grandson.

"Of course, there’s a plan. A new president more qualified than I am is handling the company soon. But there’s no need for an election. The board of directors agrees with my plan." Alanis said nonchalantly.

"That is good. And you’re well familiar with him?" Grandma Hamilton asked as she found her way to one of the sofas, her meaningful gaze lingered on her grandson.

"If that’s the case then that’s a good thing," Garth said. At least it would not be hard for her son to take over in the future since Alanis has stepped down himself. Garth smiled stylishly, she was so happy about the changes made.

"So what’s the name of this gentleman? We should invite him over before your remarriage gala, that way he’ll get really acquainted with the family and will not try to cheat us. Anyone in charge of Hamilton is a part of the family." Charlotte suggested.

"She’s very well acquainted with the family Grandma, there’ll be no need for that." He said.

"A she?" Garth asked surprised. "Can a woman handle the company?" She asked.

"Yes, my wife. Harlow’s fit for the position." Alanis smiled. Garth frowned deeply at his words, she should have known that girl was the cause of everything.

"How hard are you willing to go, before you destroy us all?" Garth barked. Putting the useless heiress of the Blackwood family in charge of their company is diabolic. Even if she had shunned her maid when she suggested Alanis being under a spell, she believed it now.

"Are you sure Harlow can handle the company, Alanis?" Grandma Hamilton asked. She was skeptical about the girl handling the company. Harlow was good at everything, but she doubted her granddaughter-in-law could handle the company.

"Of course, she can’t, what is that girl good at aside whoring around with Alanis. Your father never taught you to jeopardize your life over a woman Alanis. He would never be proud of you." Garth said.

"You’re not in no position to say that to my husband mother. You can’t blackmail him anymore" Harlow walked down the stairs in a simple blue jean and a white sweatshirt. She held her purse to her body as she climbed down.

Right now she looked so cute and simple, yet sly, with the sharpest mouth. Alanis had smiled when his wife defended him but he quickly recalled their deal. She was doing all of these because of the deal they had.

"You bitch!" Garth yelled.

"You have come into our peaceful home to destroy us all. I’m ready to return your dowry, go back to your father."

"Insulting and attacking my wife will not change anything. I’ve already made my decision." Alanis said calmly.

"Sweetheart, your mother seems to have forgotten the company wasn’t any better when it was under her control." Garth frowned at her words.

It was no news to everyone Garth had been the one to destroy everything left of the company, leaving nothing to her stepson. And now, Alanis had to work double to build it back up again.

"You have no right to speak to me that way," Garth said, her voice trembling with anger.

"You have no right to speak to me the way you did either. I can manage the company better than you will ever do." Harlow said with matching fervor.

"I will not sit here and watch you disrespect me, Harlow. I’ve been here before, don’t think you’re above me now." Garth got up. She will never let Harlow bruise her pride and ego anymore. Enough was really enough.

She would need to deal with the girl, but first, Charlotte Hamilton has to die first. Once that woman is out, she will be the new head of the family, and she will make sure Harlow suffers.

Garth stepped out of the mansion with purposeful steps.

Ava arrived in the lounge immediately, "Master, madam, breakfast is served." She said.

"Oh, I’m starving, let’s eat together and conclude our discussion on the table. Harlow, come with me dear, I can’t remember the last time I spoke to you." Grandma Hamilton smiled at her young daughter-in-law, leading her over to the dining table.

Seeing that her grandson was fine and his wife was too, she knew that the gunshot that day was only a settlement to whatever disagreement they had. Charlotte smiled. It is the reason she hadn’t taken them so seriously.

"I’ve decided to host a gala to celebrate your return. To welcome you officially to the family Harlow." Grandma Hamilton said with a smile. She looked like the happiest person in the room. In her past life, poor health couldn’t let her take good care of her daughter-in-law, but right now, she was ready to spoil Harlow so much.

"Is it really necessary, Grandma?" Harlow asked. She was here on a mission to destroy their family. Harlow wonders if Charlotte will ever forgive her if she finds out about her mission.

"Of course it is. You’re Harlow Blackwood, Alanis’s wife." Grandma Hamilton said proudly.
