THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS
Chapter 116: CHANGE OF PLAN 2

Chapter 116: CHANGE OF PLAN 2

"She has every right to hit you however she likes. She also has a right to get you fired if you want to. She’s my wife and has the same authority as me."

"What are you doing? Are you calling me a liar?" Garth demanded, her disbelief palpable. She had expected Alanis to lash out at Harlow, to kick her out of the mansion himself. Or better still make her apologize to her. He would give her the power to do whatever she wanted with Harlow.

"Do you really need to ask her that? Isn’t my word and swollen cheeks enough evidence for you?"

But Alanis remained composed. "I need to hear the truth from my wife first before making any decisions. For all I know, this could be another one of your schemes," he said evenly, his gaze unwavering as it returned to Harlow.

Garth’s mouth fell open. Her son... was taking her side?

"My little villainess," Alanis said softly, his tone calm but commanding. "Did you do it?"

Harlow, still seated on the couch, met his gaze with boldness. "Yes. I slapped her. Hard. And I kicked her out of the mansion. The maid too, I made sure I beat her very well, but it seems my lessons weren’t learned very well husband, permit me to deal with that maid again." she replied, waiting for the inevitable backlash.

But Alanis didn’t react. Not in the way she’d expected. In fact, he hadn’t done anything she had expected of him tonight. He has been by her side all through.

"You don’t need permission to punish a maid. She’s yours to do whatever you want with?"

"Sir!" Jane screamed.

"As for my mother I’m sure you had a good reason," he said, his voice steady, yet firm. "Mother, you should stop trying to fight my wife. Learn to coexist in peace. Harlow isn’t a bad person, and if you push me to choose between the two of you..." He paused, his voice turning colder, "...I will choose her."

The room fell silent.

All of the maids in the room stared at their boss in disbelief. They were right. Alanis Hamilton has been bewitched by this girl, but why would she do such?

Garth staggered, the weight of his words crashing down on her. "I’m your mother, Alanis," she said, her voice cracking. "The one woman who raised you, who took care of you after your real mother died. And yet, today, you humiliate me like this? You call me a liar in front of everyone?"

"My wife isn’t foolish enough to hit you for no reason," Alanis replied, his tone sharpening. "Considering how much you despise her, I can only imagine what you did to provoke her."

Garth’s eyes burned with tears of rage. "How dare you!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the villa. "How dare you turn your back on me for her!" She pointed at Harlow.

But Alanis wasn’t moved. He knew the only reason she had taken care of him as a child was to turn him into her slave. In the end, she killed him.

"Know this, Alanis. Today, the battle line has been drawn. You stopped being a part of this family the moment you chose her over me," Garth spat, her voice trembling with fury.

Turning on her heels, she stormed out of the villa, her stilettos clacking sharply against the marble floor. "Let’s go, Jane," she barked, not even sparing a glance at the maid trailing behind her.

But just as Jane made to follow, a cold voice sliced through the air.

"You."

Jane froze mid-step, her heart pounding as she turned to face Harlow. Gone was the calm and composed demeanor she had known. In its place was a chilling, commanding presence that sent shivers down her spine.

As it stands now, Harlow was far more superior than her madam. Harlow held more authority than Garth. Today, she had reduced Garth to nothing.

For the first time, Jane felt real fear. She couldn’t understand what had come over her master, Alanis. This wasn’t right. It wasn’t natural. There had to be some dark force at play, some spell, some witchcraft. How else could she explain him falling in love with this woman overnight?

His supporting her... They all thought he never loved her.

They all thought she was the one chasing him. Maybe her desperation seems to have caught him for only a little bit, but in no time, Alanis will be back.

Harlow stepped forward, her heels clicking softly against the floor. Her cold gaze pinned Jane in place. "Who said you could leave?"

Jane’s frown deepened. She could see where this was heading, and she didn’t like it. Just because Alanis had given this woman free rein didn’t mean she could wield such authority. But one look into Harlow’s eyes told her there was no room for argument.

Harlow’s steps took her to a corner of the room where a massive flower vase stood. An ornate, towering piece that seemed more suited to decoration than utility. A small smile tugged at her lips as she turned back to Jane.

She pointed to two male servants standing nearby. "Pick it up," she ordered, her voice as cold as steel, "and place it in her hands."

The servants hesitated but obeyed, struggling as they hoisted the colossal vase and carried it toward the trembling maid.

"You’re to hold this vase for the entire night," Harlow continued her voice calm but laced with venom. "And if, by any chance, you drop it, Jane, I promise you, you’ll wish you were dead."

The room fell into a stunned silence.

Jane’s eyes widened as she stared at the vase, now just inches from her. The weight alone was more than she could handle. The two servants who carried it staggered as they walked towards her, how was she supposed to hold it all night? Her fear turned to panic. Harlow is truly heartless.

"You can’t do this," Jane whispered, her voice trembling.

Harlow stepped closer, her gaze icy. "On your knees," she commanded.

Jane’s gaze darted to Alanis, pleading silently for him to intervene, but his expression remained unreadable. The other maids watched in horror, their pity palpable but useless. Harlow’s authority had been cemented, no one dared to question her now.

Realizing there was no escape, Jane sank to her knees, tears pricking at her eyes. "Madam, please," she begged, her voice cracking. "I’m sorry—for everything. For insulting you. For calling you a wretch. Please forgive me."

But Harlow wasn’t moved. She rather smiled. In the past when she begged them and even provided evidence of not killing her son, they had refused to listen. They disgraced her and threw her out of the estate. As if that was not enough, they caused an accident and Garth finished the work.

"If sorry could change everything, wouldn’t the world be a better place?" She smiled.

"I need guards watching her all night. As for my new head housekeeper, Ava has been appointed." She announced.

In no time the Alanis’s guards arrived with a while in their arms.

"If by chance she drops it, don’t hesitate to use that on her."
