THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS -
Chapter 109: MAD COUPLE
Chapter 109: MAD COUPLE
Harlow’s heels clicked against the marble floor sharply as she walked down the stairs with her maid. Both people ignored the maids gathered around the stairs and scattered the moment they saw them.
"Miss Harlow are you not going to have breakfast? Master Alanis is waiting for you in the dining room." She rolled her eyes. Alanis is the last person she wanted to meet, seeing him would ruin her mood but she knew the reason he wanted to speak to her.
The deal they made was yet to be settled. She had to settle that before leaving.
"Good morning madam." The elderly maid greeted calmly with a bow when Harlow reached her, but as always, she was ignored once again. Edina had no idea why her madam hated her so much even if she’s never known her from anywhere. It was because, in Harlow’s past life, this woman never respected her. She always challenged her words and would always side with Jane and Garth.
Her loyalty lay with Jane and Garth. Garth had placed her minions around Harlow, they bullied and challenged her daily. Everyone forgot who she was and insulted her because Alanis didn’t give her any attention.
After so much sacrifice, all she got was death. Brutal death. Not just her, but her children.
She walked calmly till she arrived at the dining room. She had been so upset last night to realize how much Alanis had changed his Villa completely. It looked completely different from what it used to look like in the past.
Harlow entered the dining room, it also looked different from the last time she was here. As always it was huge, this time rather than the usual oval table, it was a rectangular golden table with 20 sittings. A different diamond and gold chandelier dangled above it.
There were a few maids scattered around, ready to serve them.
Harlow’s green eyes flickered back to the table, drawn to the figure seated at its center. There he was, the man she had hoped never to see again, casually eating his vegetables as though the world around him didn’t matter.
In her past, he was never home to have breakfast with her so why was he here now?
Why was he doing this?
Why did he want her to be his wife so badly?
Why was he all nice to her?
Why is this Alanis different?
Her breath hitched, unbidden, as her gaze lingered on him. He had dyed his hair black again. That familiar jet-black hair fell artfully to one side of his face, framing sharp cheekbones and a jawline that could cut glass.
He looked every inch the dark temptation she had once been powerless to resist. His shirt, always black, clung to his broad shoulders, the top three buttons undone, revealing a hint of his perfectly sculpted chest. The way the fabric stretched over his muscles, the muscles she had longed to touch all her life. The same muscles that make her weak in the knees.
His cheeks were swollen, it could be the aftermath of his fight with Andrew. Harlow smiled downwards, he deserved every bit of what he was getting.
As if sensing her thoughts, Alanis paused mid-bite, lifting his head. His dark eyes locked onto hers. For a moment time seized as both people just stared at each other, then, the sound of shattered glass broke them from the trance.
"I’m sorry master Alanis." Jane apologized immediately. She hurriedly started picking up the glasses one after another. As usual, she was doing what Garth had instructed her to do. Her madam was yet to know about this rude girl’s return, she had no idea why Lanis would want to bring her back instead of accepting his marriage with Claudia.
"Get out!" Came Alanis’s words and Jane hurried out of the dining room. "All of you." The other maids who were standing there hurried out of the room. Ava was about to leave too when "Ava stay." Harlow suddenly said and Ava nodded.
She maintained her calm demeanor, walking elegantly towards the table ignoring the gaze of the man that followed her every moment. When she sat down, she turned her gaze to him finally.
Ava who could feel the rising tension between both people moved towards the table with shaky hands as she started to serve her mistress.
"How was your night?" Alanis continued chewing his vegetables.
"How else would it be?" Harlow asked. The sight of him irritated her. This man was no human, he may be good-looking, but he was a monster. How did she not see all of this in her last life?
He looked nothing less than the devil in the form of a human. He was a devil. After brutally beating Andrew last night, he dared ask her how her night went.
"If you were kidnapped by your stupid ex, forcefully kissed, and dragged back to his Villa, would you have a good night’s sleep?" A slow, wicked smile spread across his lips as he watched his wife.
Ava who was about to pour tea into Harlow’s cup froze. She tried not to smile at the moment. This meant she was right, after all, her Miss Harlow had lied to her. She had actually kissed her master Alanis.
"That’s not how I remember it." He said. "All I remembered was a hurt man who went to fetch his wife who kisses any stranger that comes her way because clearly she’s crazy and is on a mission to drive him mad." Ava paused again.
Just how many people did her miss Harlow kiss?
"You think this is a game? You think I’m pretending to drive you mad?" She asked. "I can kiss whoever I want because I’m divorced, what part of that do you not understand?"
"I’m not a child Harlow, people don’t just fall out of love."
"Then welcome to our world, because not only have I fallen out of love for you, I hate you. I hate you so much that if I had a gun I could shoot you." Alanis smiled broadened and in the next minute he dropped a gun on the table.
"Shoot me."
