Chapter 204: Thank You For Everything -1

"Leave me, you crazy woman!" the young leader cried out as Evelyn didn’t stop assaulting him. She kicked and punched him, making even Damien’s men look at her in surprise. They never expected Mrs. Reign to be so good in fights.

"Stop your wife before she kills him, man!" Damien told Zevian, while his team handled the remaining four men. The guys seemed young, like little rebels who had just started extorting others. Just the sight of the guns made them drop their hockey sticks and fall to their knees.

"Eva, stop it!" Zevian tried his best, but Evelyn wasn’t just Evelyn tonight. Her inner sister had completely taken over, and it was hard to stop her. With a sigh, he wrapped his hand around her waist and pulled her back, slightly lifting her in his arms.

"Leave me! How dare he touch my brother?" Evelyn continued, kicking her legs in the air, acting like a young teenager who had just learned to fight. "I will kill him tonight!" she continued, as Zevian carried her out of the scene.

Damien helped Elias, and Ronan followed behind with a sigh. A few men stayed behind to take care of the little mobsters, while a few rushed to guard their boss and his friends.

They all got down the building, and Zevian put Evelyn inside a car. He then shoved Elias inside and asked the driver to drive away.

"We will come in another car," he told his wife, closing the door. At his nod, the driver drove away to the hotel. It was thundering, and it would be risky to fly at this hour, so Damien’s team had prepared for them to stay for a few hours.

An eerie silence filled the car, the siblings waiting for the other to speak. The driver glanced at the boy, his face bruised, and felt bad for him. In the fights of elders, it was always the children who suffered, and it was proved yet again, seeing the Wright family’s condition. He thought to himself before focusing on the road.

Evelyn heaved a sigh, calming herself down. Glancing at the driver through the mirror, she asked, "Do you have a first aid kit?"

The driver nodded and took it out from the cabin, passing it back to her. "Thank you," Evelyn accepted it and turned around to Elias.

"Turn around," she demanded, her tone tinged with irritation.

Elias slowly turned around, trying his best to hide the tears from trickling down. Evelyn took out a bud and the necessary kit items, turning around to treat his wound.

Moving closer, she cleaned the bruise beside his lip and gritted her teeth, realizing someone had slapped him in the face. Slightly glaring up at him, she grumbled, "You could have just hidden somewhere back in the city. Who told you to come all the way here?" Heaving a small sigh, she murmured, "Idiot."

Elias didn’t reply but just lowered his eyes. She finished treating the light bruises on his face. Placing aside the first aid kit, she looked at his injured hand and sighed again.

"How did you get hurt?" With a sigh, she grumbled, "And why the heck did you allow them to treat you like this? Is that how I taught you to fight bullies?"

"And what was all this pretense of being a bad guy? Was it really necessary?" With another slight huff, Evelyn grumbled, "It must have been to trick your mother, I understand, but did you really have to be rude to him?"

"And why did you drop that phone by the mansion? If you were so keen on letting me know you were our secret aide, you could have just told me!" Evelyn continued to grumble, tears trickling down her face. She was emotional and, most importantly, annoyed at herself for failing to see through him.

"I... I am sorry," was all Elias could say to all her questions. Tears trickled down his face, and the more he tried to hold them back, the more he failed, seeing her cry too.

"You are such an idiot, Eli!" Evelyn grumbled and hugged him tightly. Both started to sob, their cries filling the car.

The driver looked worriedly through the mirror, wondering what had gotten into them. It seemed as though everyone else wanted to give them space, and he felt bad for ruining their privacy. Should he stop the car and give them time? He thought, unsure how to handle the situation.

"I am sorry I doubted you," Evelyn murmured, sniffling as Elias cried in her arms. Just like when they were younger, he was merely four and used to cry, hugging her tightly even at the smallest incidents.

Elias shook his head and murmured, "I am sorry for being rude to you."

When he realized his mom was using Annabelle’s death as his weakness and tried to tie him down to her, he decided to discreetly help out Evelyn. He behaved just like she hoped, acted and said just what she wanted, letting her loosen her walls and confess all her sins. That’s how he learned about Gracia being alive too.

Sophia was panicking when she heard someone had secretly visited Gracia in the asylum and had ordered to kill her immediately. Luckily, she was scared and needed some support, so she told Maverick’s plans and where Gracia was, helping him convey it to Evelyn. He thought Evelyn would be smart and take Gracia somewhere safer, but when he realized they had brought her as Frederick, Ronan’s cousin, he got anxious and tried to warn her again but ended up almost getting caught by Lucius’s men.

"I thought this little help wouldn’t cover for the sins my mother committed," Elias slowly confessed as they broke the hug. "I thought even if I showed up, you’d still hate and resent me. And that’s why I decided to run away from everyone."

There was an even bigger reason, one that even took Annabelle’s life, but he wasn’t sure he could just bring it up in front of her.

Evelyn felt an ache in her heart grow at his words. In her desperate attempts to bring down Sophia, she had totally forgotten how he would feel about everything. She had never confronted him or involved him in her plans, which must have made him come to such conclusions, such thoughts that no matter what he did, she would always suspect him, see him as nothing more than their enemy’s blood.

Wiping her tears away, Evelyn pulled him into a hug again. Patting his head, she added, "I should have paid more attention to you. I am sorry for forgetting about you amidst this chaos."

Elias shook his head, enjoying this little moment that he knew wouldn’t quite last long. Evelyn smiled, ruffled his hair, and commented, "Let’s go back home and play your game. I will lose a few times to make up as an apology."

Elias smiled, but the sadness in his eyes made Evelyn wary. "I don’t think I can come back home, sis," he murmured, not sure if he could even call Wright Mansion his home.

"What do you mean?" Evelyn asked with a frown.

Before he could reply, a few cars came from the opposite direction and ambushed them on all sides at the junction.

"We are under attack!" the driver quickly said, mainly through his earpiece. He pressed on the brake, stopping right before they could crash into the car in front of them.

Evelyn quickly held onto Elias, her heart racing again. Just when she thought things were normal, here was another trouble trying to tear her apart.
