Chapter 152: Her Prince Charming

Chapter 152: Her Prince Charming

The next morning, Evelyn woke up with a smile on her face. Kiana clung to her tightly, her little hand wrapped around Evelyn’s stomach as if afraid her Mommy would betray her and go to her "cheater Daddy." Kissing the top of her head, Evelyn slowly freed herself from Kiana’s grip.

"Mommy..." Kiana murmured in her sleep, rolling onto her back.

"Sleep for a while, baby." Evelyn patted her head. "I’ll wake you up later," she added, coaxing Kiana back to sleep. The little bear could barely open her eyes but nodded before hugging the pillow on the other side.

Evelyn smiled, tucking her properly under the quilt, then slowly got down from the bed. It was still early in the morning, and she decided to go look for her husband. He must have been fuming and hadn’t slept, considering how Kiana had tricked him into staying out of the room. Moving away from the furniture, Evelyn opened the door and walked out with a silly grin.

"Good morning, Ma’am!" Agatha greeted her on the way. "Is the Young Miss still asleep?" she asked, looking toward the master bedroom.

"Yes, Agatha. Let her sleep a bit more," Evelyn replied with a smile. Glancing at the guest room at the end of the corridor, she asked, "Is he in the guest room?"

Agatha, holding back a chuckle, nodded in response. She recalled how Zevian had realized Kiana had locked and even blocked the room. He had gone as far as to consider getting extra locks but decided to pay Kiana back in the morning, having some extra work to finish last night.

"Alright." Evelyn grinned and walked to the guest room.

Opening the door, Evelyn peeked inside to find Zevian lying on the bed, one hand placed on his forehead, indicating he had just gotten into bed and was trying to catch some sleep. She walked inside and looked at the study table, where his laptop and other stuff were neatly spread out.

Zevian opened his eyes, sensing someone enter, and a smile lifted his tired face at the sight of his beautiful wife.

"Were you working all night?" Evelyn asked with a frown, walking up to the bed.

Zevian simply hummed and grabbed her hand, pulling her onto the soft mattress. Evelyn lay next to him, and he pulled her even closer, wrapping his arm around her waist. Neither spoke for a moment, enjoying the intimate moment without any third wheel feeling jealous.

"Is she awake?" Zevian asked after a while, his fingers combing through the strands on Evelyn’s face.

Evelyn bit back a chuckle and shook her head. "Would I be here if she were awake?" she asked, causing Zevian to sigh in frustration.

"We need to do something about it," Zevian suggested, not liking the idea of Kiana always trying to compete with him. True, he also wanted all of Evelyn’s attention, but they each held different places in her heart and shouldn’t be fighting with each other.

"About what?" Evelyn asked in confusion. She looked up at him, and when Zevian’s lips curled into a small smirk, a blush crept onto her cheeks.

"She’ll never agree to it," Evelyn murmured, lowering her gaze. As much as she would love to spend the night with him, Kiana would make heaven meet hell if she found out about it. Her possessiveness towards Evelyn had only grown stronger ever since they’d gotten a little closer.

Zevian smiled and replied, "I’ll make sure she agrees to it." Kissing the top of her head, he added, "Let’s sleep for a while."

Evelyn nuzzled closer and hugged him back, her earlier embarrassment slowly washing away. They closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep in each other’s embrace.

Later, during breakfast, Kiana drank her milk while glaring at her Daddy sitting across from her. She had no clue her Mommy had sneaked out that morning, sparing Zevian from another cruel punishment.

"I’m done, Mommy." The little girl murmured, placing down the glass. A smile spread across her lips, replacing the earlier scowl as she turned to Evelyn and let her wipe her mouth.

"My baby is the best," Evelyn praised, bringing a grin to Kiana’s face.

Zevian also finished his breakfast. "If you’re done, let’s go," he said, wiping his mouth. When Kiana looked at him with squinted eyes, confused, he clarified, "John is on some important work, so I’ll drop you at school."

The mention of school made Kiana flinch slightly, but she didn’t show it on her face.

Kiana slowly nodded and got down from her chair. "I’ll get my bag," she said, running out of the dining hall.

Zevian and Evelyn watched her climb the stairs, then smiled at each other. Evelyn noticed the slight change in her daughter’s expression but dismissed it, thinking she was just upset about going to school, like every day.

"I’ll pack her lunchbox," Evelyn stated, and at Zevian’s nod, she walked to the kitchen. She had prepared all of Kiana’s favorite dishes, and the little girl would be delighted to share them with her friends.

Kiana’s expression changed to one of dread as her Daddy’s car parked in front of the school gates. Zevian picked her up and walked inside toward her classroom. He noticed her changed expression but didn’t give it much thought, as she’d always been grumpy and sad about coming here.

"Oh, you’re here too!" Lucius, who had come to drop off his notorious son Yael, greeted Zevian. He smiled at Kiana and patted the little girl’s head. "How are you, sweetie?"

"I’m good, Uncle Luci!" Kiana replied with a small smile. They exchanged a few words before both kids were sent into the classroom, and the headmistress came over to greet Zevian. It was rare for him and Lucius to visit, and the school couldn’t miss the chance to make a good impression.

"Oh, look! The murderer’s daughter is here!" one of the classmates commented as soon as Kiana entered. She didn’t pay much attention and went over to sit at her desk, with Yael following closely behind and sitting beside her. They were forced to share the same bench every day, and Kiana was even more annoyed by it.

Luckily, before the kids could pick on her, the homeroom teacher walked inside. She greeted the students and started the class, making Kiana sigh in relief. Yael, sitting beside her, didn’t glance her way and leaned over the desk, ready for his nap.

"Yael!" the homeroom teacher scolded him, but the little guy ignored her, causing her to shake her head. She’d already given up on him!

The day passed quickly with a few classes, one after another. But when lunchtime came, Kiana felt like running to the office room to eat with the headmistress. If she did, wouldn’t her parents be informed? No, she couldn’t burden her Mommy more.

Taking a deep breath, Kiana went to the lunch hall. Usually, the staff helped the younger kids, and one stepped forward as she walked in with her lunchbox.

"I’ll wash my hands," Kiana said, passing the box. The caretaker nodded and followed her to the bathroom, waiting outside while the little girl rushed inside to quickly wash her hands.

But as Kiana entered, three of her classmates were already present, making her step back in fear.

"Oh, look! We have the murderer’s daughter," one of the girls snickered, the instigator of such thoughts among their classmates.

"My Mommy isn’t a murderer!" Kiana retorted as she’d done a couple of times already. But the girl kept saying it until her courage began to falter.

"Hmph! Liar!" Lilly huffed. "My mom showed your new Mommy’s picture. She killed her sister!" she added, her minions nodding in agreement.

"No!" Kiana retorted, her little hands clenched into fists.

"She’s a murderer, Kiana! Your Mommy isn’t cool and awesome like you think. She’s evil and a monster!" Lilly continued, her words causing Kiana to grit her teeth. Much to her surprise, Lilly stepped forward and pushed her to the ground, the other girls laughing as she hit the cold floor.

"Yes! Yes!" The other two girls joined in, giving more confidence to Lily.

"You know what? You’re trash! Your Mommy’s trash! Your whole family’s trash!" Lilly continued, glancing around until she spotted a nearby bin. "And let me prove it to you!"

Walking over, the little girl picked up the trash can, ready to throw it at Kiana, who always boasted about her family in front of them. But before she could reach Kiana, someone stepped forward, grabbing both of her hands.

"Leave it!" Yael demanded, his icy glare making Lilly flinch.

"Get out of here, Yael. Her mom’s a murderer; she needs to be punished too," Lilly babbled, but Yael shook his head.

"You’re dumber than your parents, Lilly," Yael commented, his words making Lilly redden in anger. He always trashed her parents. Her grip on the bin tightened as he continued, "Touch her, and I’ll dig out that brain and throw it in this bin."

Kiana blinked, tears brimming in her eyes as she stared at the scene. Her gaze fixed on Yael, the boy she had always hated, a big bully who wouldn’t stop bothering her. But now, he seemed like a whole new human. Like those charming princes in her fairytale, the knight in shining armor who would always step up to save their heroines.

Kiana felt her heart racing loudly at the thought. Has she finally found the love of her life? The little girl wondered, a blush creeping on her cheeks at her stupid thoughts.
