Chapter 134: Our Villa
Chapter 134: Our Villa
By the time Evelyn landed with Ronan, night had already fallen over Montedoro City. A line of bouncers waiting for their boss quickly rushed over as the jet landed. One of them stepped forward and smiled at Evelyn, recognizing her from her last visit.
"It’s good to see you again, Madam Grace," Carson greeted her with a smile. He was Ronan’s right hand, a man who handled everything in their Master’s absence, and failing to do so would be like disobeying him.
"How have you been, Carson?" Evelyn chatted as they headed out of the airport. The bouncers formed a shield around them, with Ronan beside her and Carson following close behind. "Did you find a girlfriend yet?" she teased, recalling how he’d grumbled last time about being over thirty and still single.
"I’ve been quite busy for that," Carson replied, pursing his lips.
"He just doesn’t want to ruin a girl’s life," Ronan interjected, offering the real reason. Carson silently glared at Ronan, making Evelyn laugh out loud. These lighthearted moments with those around her kept her grounded, and she hoped they’d help this time, too.
But her happiness was short-lived as they reached the airport entrance. Four men dressed in black stood by a black SUV, with a woman in front of them. Ronan’s men instinctively reached for their weapons, thinking the group was there to attack. Though the woman appeared cheerful and kind, looks could be deceiving in their world.
"Oh, she’s here!" The woman’s face lit up when she saw Evelyn. She rushed forward, only to be blocked by Ronan’s men. Ronan stepped up, shielding Evelyn within their protective circle.
"Fucking bastards! I’m not a mobster like you! Move aside," the woman muttered in Italian, her scowl having no effect on the men. They tried to push her away, but her bouncers quickly stepped in, both sides ready to fight.
"Ma’am!" The woman waved at Evelyn, realizing the situation was getting tense. "We were sent by Master Reign. He owns a villa here, and we’re in charge of it." She introduced herself, though it only made the group more suspicious.
"How can we trust you?" Carson questioned, stepping forward to manage the situation. This group could be Zevian’s enemies seizing a chance to eliminate Grace in a foreign land. Although Zevian had control in his own country and commanded respect, that didn’t eliminate all risks.
Right on cue, Evelyn’s phone rang—it was her husband. She answered immediately.
"Did you land safely?" Zevian asked, already awake and preparing for work.
Evelyn glanced at the woman as she replied, "Did you send someone to pick me up? They claim to be from your villa here."
Zevian hummed in confirmation. "You should go with them and rest. I’ll talk to you in the morning," he added.
With a nod, Evelyn confirmed to Ronan that the group was indeed sent by Zevian. Ronan’s face darkened. "You’re staying at our mansion," he declared, determined to take her to his place instead.
Zevian, hearing Ronan over the phone, addressed Evelyn, "Mr. Igor’s old mansion is nearly a city away from your current location. Traveling daily would be a hassle, so you should stay at *our* villa," he insisted, emphasizing the words to make clear his intentions—especially not wanting her near Ronan.
The woman stepped forward, showing them the villa’s location. Carson took the tablet and frowned. It was true; their villa was only a few minutes’ ride from the mansion, while Igor Mansion was nearly two hours away.
"Madam Grace should stay there, Boss," Carson said to Ronan, handing back the tablet. He added, "She’ll be busy with work, and the commute would drain her energy."
Zevian smirked on the other end, pleased that at least someone here had sense. But Ronan’s next statement made him scoff.
"We can travel by helicopter daily."
Even Evelyn was taken aback. That was a bit much!
"We don’t have a helipad at the old mansion," Carson replied plainly. Grace was a married woman, and his boss needed to respect that. Although Ronan had no intentions of taking her from Zevian, this behavior would certainly rile up their Elder Master, Benjamin.
Before Ronan could argue further, Evelyn turned to him and said, "It’s fine, Mr. Igor. I’ll stay at *our* villa."
A smile spread across Zevian’s face as he listened, pleased with her choice of words. Referring to it as *our* villa must have felt like a bucket of vinegar to Ronan. Zevian only regretted that they weren’t on a video call so he could witness Ronan’s reaction.
The woman smiled at Evelyn’s decision. She sneered at the bodyguards and said, "This way, Ma’am." One of her men quickly took the suitcase from Ronan’s bouncer, smirking as he did so.
With a sigh of defeat, Ronan nodded. "Call me if you’re uncomfortable. I’ll bring you back to Igor Mansion," he insisted.
"Why would she be uncomfortable in her own house?" Carson muttered a bit too loudly, earning a glare from Ronan. Carson wasn’t sure if he was Ronan’s right-hand man or secretly loyal to Zevian at this point.
"Good night. I’ll see you in the morning," Evelyn replied to Ronan. With a nod and a smile at Carson, she let the woman guide her toward the car.
"I’ll call you later," she told Zevian on the phone, ending the call before stepping into the back seat. The woman shot Ronan’s men a triumphant look before taking the front passenger seat.
The bouncers piled into another car behind them as Ronan and his men watched the two vehicles drive off, then returned to their own.
Evelyn couldn’t help but smile, recalling the incident. She hadn’t known Reign Mansion had properties here—not even Avery had mentioned it. But she was glad to have a place of her own here, where she could unwind and speak with her family without worry.
The drive took nearly three hours, and Evelyn dozed off in the back seat. When they arrived, the woman gently roused her. "We’ve reached the villa, Ma’am. Your room’s prepared, so you can rest up," she said as Evelyn exited the car. With a nod, Evelyn followed her toward the grand villa, eyes widening in awe.
The villa stood as a grand sentinel under the expansive evening sky, its freshly painted exterior illuminated by soft, strategically placed lights. Its crisp white walls and dark wood accents lent a blend of modern elegance and classic charm, making the villa look newly purchased.
"Is this place new?" Evelyn asked as they climbed the marble stairs, stepping inside the magnificent building.
The woman giggled. "No... but yes!" Seeing Evelyn’s confusion, she explained, "This villa wasn’t for sale, but Mr. Reign somehow managed to buy it yesterday. He even had it fully renovated and staffed."
Evelyn’s mouth dropped open. Everything was arranged in just one night?
"Master must love you very much, Ma’am. He’s also very possessive," the woman added, clearly enjoying her new job.
Evelyn couldn’t help but blush slightly at her comment. But she was right—her husband was very possessive. She even suspected that if Ronan continued his attempts to win her over, Zevian might abandon all his work just to fly to her. And honestly, she hoped he would—she was already beginning to miss him.
