Chapter 245: The Little Princess
The banquet hall of the Pearl Hotel was bustling with activity. Pearl Hotel was one of the top hotels in the country owned by Mu Heng. He decided to hold Erika’s first-month celebration in the hotel. He would also use the opportunity to introduce Mu Lan to his relatives and business partners.
The banquet hall could accommodate 300 guests. Since it was a baby’s first-month celebration, the party started at 4:00 pm.
Erik wanted to take back his wife and child the moment they were discharged from the hospital but the Mu grandfather and grandsons strongly objected. They wanted to celebrate the baby’s first month with them and besides they had not introduced Mu Lan yet.
When Mu Heng saw that Erik was stubborn and was firm in his decision to bring back his precious granddaughter and great-granddaughter to Malacan, Mu Heng resulted in a moral kidnapping. He reminded Erik that if not for him, Aryana could have died along with the little princess in her stomach.
In the end, Erik relented. He did owe Mu Heng, Aryana, and Erika’s lives.
Mu Heng’s three sons and their children arrived at the venue early. His cousins were also there along with their children and grandchildren. Most of the guests were from the Mu clan and a few were from their important business partners.
Many relatives of Mu Heng were jealous. While they struggled to produce a son, Mu Heng had three sons. His eldest son has five sons. His second has three and a daughter, and his youngest has two sons. All the sons and grandsons were outstanding.
Unbeknownst to them, Mu Heng also envied them because they had many granddaughters. While Mu Heng was proud of his sons and grandsons, he longed for granddaughters that he could dote on but he only got one.
Mu Bai was wearing an exquisite mermaid red gown that glittered when struck by light. She arrived early together with her father and her brothers. She was dressed to outshine everyone including her so-called cousin and the little Princess of the Mu Family. She grew up pampered and spoiled. All the males of the Mus were wrapped around her fingers and they would give whatever she asked them.
She could not accept the fact that there was another princess in the Mu family and it was not just one but two. Her two lackeys were with her and kept feeding her with negativity that fueled her hatred toward Aryana and baby Erika.
"Cousin, I wonder what kind of woman Uncle picked up." A balding middle-aged man was holding a wine glass in his right hand and standing beside Mu Teng.
"I only met her twice as I was out of the country most of the time." Mu Teng, Mu Heng’s first-born son said casually.
"Aren’t you afraid that your father found a fake and a gold digger?" The balding middle-aged man with a pot belly probed. He was the son of Mu Heng’s younger brother.
"Father is not stupid. If he says that she is his granddaughter then she should be. He is also wealthy. One more person to inherit his wealth would not make a difference."
Mu Teng’s nonchalant attitude irked his middle-aged cousin. He was surprised to note that Mu Teng seemed not to care if a person would snatch his inheritance. He left Mu Teng with a face red from anger.
Mu Teng remembered the second time she met Mu Lan. The first did not count because she was at the hospital and still unconscious. His father gathered the three of them and told them his story with Ning Ning.
"When I married your mother, I did not love her at first. But over the years, I fell in love with her and remained loyal to her until her death. However, Ning Ning was my first love and I wronged her." Mu Heng paused, guilt apparent on his face.
"Mu Lan’s mother is your elder sister. I hope that you will treat her daughter like your own. If you are angry, vent it on me and not on Mu Lan."
The three brothers just listened to their father silently. At first, they were enraged when they found out that their seemingly loyal father had a mistress. But when they learned that their father met the woman before he married their mother, they were not as angry as before.
Mu Teng remembered when Mu Lan called her Uncle. Her voice was so pleasant it sounded like music to his ears.
"I don’t have a daughter so you can be my daughter and you can call me Dad." He said while looking dotingly at Mu Lan. Who did not want to have a beautiful and adorable daughter?
"Dad!" Mu Lan obediently called him and he was so happy that he was grinning foolishly before he gloated at his two younger brothers.
"That can’t be. If you call him, Dad, then you should also call me Daddy." Mu Chuan interjected. Mu Teng glared at him.
Mu Yishan, the second child was silent. His daughter Mu Bai would be jealous if another woman would call him Daddy. He was okay with being called Uncle by Mu Lan.
Grandfather Mu was speechless.
Mu Feng and Mu Chen looked at their uncle and then their father like they were idiots.
Mu Lan was speechless.
She looked at her two uncles. In the end, she decided to call them Dad and Daddy respectively. She took note of calling Mu Yishan as Uncle.
It was just a title. If calling them Daddy would make them happy, then Mu Lan obliged.
Mu Lan was a filial child. Even though he did not see him often, she would always send him messages reminding him to take care and be mindful of his health.
So during her introduction as part of the Mu Family, Mu Teng decided to gift her and her daughter shares of his company.
Mu Teng’s thoughts were interrupted by a commotion at the entrance of the banquet hall.
The little princess has arrived with her parents, his father, and his two nephews.
"Look at your new cousin, Mu Bai. She acts like she is a celebrity." One of Mu Bai’s lackeys spoke loudly and attracted the attention of people nearby.
Mu Bai turned around and her gaze focused at the entrance. She saw a tall woman who did not look like she had given birth at all. She was wearing a baby pink dress that matched the dress of the baby in her arms.
It was obvious that she prioritized comfort over aesthetics. But how come she still looked stunning even when her dress looked so simple sans the embellishments of lace appliques, sequins, and crystals? It was simple but elegant.
Mu Bai looked at her dress and she felt that she was overdressed. She looked ostentatious and she regretted wearing such a gown.
