Chapter 220: Live In Bodyguard

"What are you doing?" Mu Chen who was at the door of the ward glared at the bodyguard.

Ken stood up. He placed his finger on his mouth telling Mu Chen not to make any noise. Mu Lan was sleeping soundly. The bodyguard lazily walked back to the couch and sat down.

"I can watch her. You can do your thing." Mu Chen said rudely.

"Are you chasing me away?" The bodyguard eyed him coldly.

"No... I just thought that you are busy." Mu Chen replied curtly. He did not like this bodyguard. He did not understand why his grandpa agreed to take him as the bodyguard.

The bodyguard stood and opened the door. "I have some things to settle but I will be back in the evening," then he left without looking back.

Marlon who was meeting with their prospective business partner was having a hard time. The language barrier was making both parties frustrated. He sent a message to Marx and thankfully after a few minutes, he arrived at the restaurant.

Marlon heaved a sigh of relief as he passed the proposal to Erik.

Erik perused the proposal and after a few exchanges, they happily signed the contract and exchange a handshake to close the deal. It was still too early for alcohol but because the collaboration was finalized on a good note, Erik ordered wine and toasted his business partner and his assistant.

After an hour of drinking and conversing, the business partner with his assistant excused themselves and only Erik and Marlon were left.

"Marlon, I will stay here for a few more months. I’ll manage Gaeya Corporation from here and I need you to be my face in the Central District." Erik has decided to stay and be with Aryana. He can still manage the company remotely and he can fly over if needed.

"But Boss, so many people are eyeing your seat. With you not around, aren’t you giving them the opportunity to usurp your throne?"

Erik smirked at Marlon’s choice of words. "If they want Gaeya Corporation, then I can give it up. I have Red Phoenix Technologies and I am a shareholder of CoChi."

"But Boss, Gaeya Corporation is your sweat and blood and it also partly belongs to your mother," Marlon said in a concerned voice. He had watched how Erik worked so hard to place Gaeya Corporation on the pedestal that it is currently on.

"If it is because of the company that Aryana is being targeted, then I can give it up so easily. But I can never give up on Yana." Erik’s eyes twinkled. "Especially now that she is about to be a mother."

They left the restaurant but instead of going back to the hotel, Erik went to the Mu mansion.

Mu Heng was sitting on the gazebo in the middle of the garden while enjoying the flowers and the trees that were in full bloom when a servant led a guest to him.

His forehead creased when he recognized who the guest was.

"Hello, Grandpa! You have a great garden." Erik did not wait for him to be invited but he entered the Gazebo as if it belonged to him.

Mu Heng’s lips twitched when he heard the address of ’Grandpa.’ What audacity!

"How dare you call me ’Grandpa.’ I am not your grandfather." His voice trembled. What a shameless man.

"I am the husband of your granddaughter, so that makes me your grandchild-in-law unless you don’t acknowledge Aryana as your granddaughter."

"Her name is Mu Lan." The old man argued.

"Her name in her birth certificate is Aryana Jones, and I have a marriage certificate with her."

"I had my people check the Civil Registrar of Central District but there is no record of Aryana Jones getting married."

"Grandpa, it is not my fault if your people are incompetent. Here is a photo of our marriage certificate." Erik shoved his cell phone in front of the old man. The screen was showing a photo of a marriage contract between Erik Lee and Aryana Jones.

Erik sat on the stone table in the gazebo and made himself comfortable. The old man was sitting on the stone bench so Erik has to look down on him while speaking.

"Why did you keep your marriage a secret?" The old man asked.

Erik’s eyes dimmed. He did it because Aryana requested him and partly to protect her as well.

"I wanted to protect her and it was also her wish to keep it secret. She wanted to prove that she can be successful without depending on my backing." His face turned gloomy. "Despite that, I was still not able to protect her well." His voice was so soft that the old man barely heard it.

He sneered. "If you were not able to protect her in the past, how can you protect her in the future?"

Erik smiled slyly. "Well, I have additional help now. Doesn’t she have a powerful grandfather? Who would dare to harm her now?"

Mu Heng was speechless. To be honest, he felt good hearing Erik’s words. He met Erik Lee a few times before and his understanding of him was that he was a serious and workaholic person. When did he become to be shameless?

"Grandpa, I came here because of Aryana. As her husband, I am her closest kin. But because of her delicate condition, I don’t want to force myself on her and make her remember. Initially, I wanted to take her with me back to Central District in Malacan but her situation is very fragile." Erik paused and observed the darkening face of the old man.

"Don’t you dare take my granddaughter away! You still owe me an explanation why would she be kidnapped under your nose. What if it is related to you? I learned of your scandal the day before her kidnapping." The old man roared.

"Granpa, relax! Don’t let your blood pressure rise. You still have to take care of your great-grandchild." Erik coaxed him. He doesn’t want to be enemies with Aryana’s grandfather. He wanted to be an ally with him. "I was framed that night. I have the evidence and I can show them to Aryana when her memory is back."

Mu Heng inhaled and exhaled deeply. He felt better after that. "What is your purpose for coming over?"

"I’d like to stay at your mansion and be with Aryana."
