Chapter 216: She Suffered So Much

Mu Chen was delayed because a friend of his saw him and pulled him to their room so he could meet some of his friends. After greeting them, he went to take the stairs to the 3rd floor when he saw a glimpse of baby blue cloth and saw Auntie Wan running behind two tall men, one of them seemed to be carrying a woman in a baby blue dress. Wasn’t Mu Lan wearing that kind of dress?

"Hey wait!" He hurried after them but it was too late. The car already left. He quickly looked at the plate number while calling the driver.

The driver has barely stopped when Mu Chen opened the door and instructed the driver to follow the other car.

"Can you go faster? How far is the nearest hospital?" Erik was anxious.

The driver was Chinese so Erik spoke in Chinese. Auntie Wan understood. "Go to ABC Hospital. Her doctors are there," Auntie Wan told the driver.

The driver glanced at Erik through the mirror. Erik nodded. It would be better to bring her to the hospital where she was treated earlier.

Auntie Wan called Young Master Mu Chen. She told him that the young Missy fainted and the two men that they were meeting earlier brought her to the hospital.

Erik looked at the woman who was lying in his arms. Her hair was black but he could see the roots were the same color as Aryana’s hair. He lifted a strand of her short hair. ’Why did she cut her hair short’?

He then noticed a faint scar on her right forehead, a little over her eyebrows. He traced the scar with the tip of his finger as it went upwards to the top of her head where suture marks were more apparent.

Erik felt as if his heart was squeezed tight. Indeed she suffered a head injury.

"Can you tell me more about your Young Miss?" Erik asked the nanny politely.

The middle-aged woman hesitated. She looked at Erik and decided that he was a good man considering the pained expression on his face.

"She was seriously injured. The old master found her on his privately owned island in the West Sea. Yong Missy stayed in the hospital for three months. She has a lot of blood clots on her brain causing her to lose her sight." The nanny paused and looked at Mu Lan.

"The young missy did not agree to undergo surgery when she learned that she was pregnant. She opted for a noninvasive treatment even if recovery time was longer."

Erik froze when the word ’pregnant’ sunk in. Marlon turned back and looked at him with wide eyes.

He was about to say something when the car suddenly stopped in front of the hospital.

Erik was surprised to see that a doctor and a few nurses were already waiting for them. He did not have time to think about it. He hurriedly placed Aryana on the stretcher and she was wheeled to the emergency room.

"Doctor, please check what’s wrong with my wife."

A surprised look appeared in the doctor’s eyes. He nodded and followed into the emergency room.

Mu Chen arrived after Amaya was brought to the emergency room. Erik was pacing back and forth in the waiting area while Marlon went out to order takeout as they were not able to have their meal.

Erik turned around and bumped into Mu Chen.

Erik: "It’s you."

Mu Chen: "It’s you!"

Both were surprised and a realization hit Erik. "Did you intentionally hide Aryana? Why did you not contact me?"

Mu Chen was confused. "What do you mean to contact you? When we found out that Mu Lan is pregnant and she asked us why her husband was not around, we don’t have an answer for her because we do not know who her husband is. We asked someone to investigate but there was no record of her marriage in the Central District’s Civil Bureau."

The young man sized up Erik. "I knew you were her boss in the past, but she was no longer working for you. Besides, someone intentionally harmed her. What if it is you?"

Erik was so angry that he punched Mu Chen who was caught off guard and was hit on his right shoulder.

"Watch your words. She is my wife how can I harm her?"

The head nurse heard the commotion and came over. "Gentlemen, this is the hospital. Please act accordingly."

Both Erik and Mu Chen nodded and just clenched their fists silently.

Erik regained his calmness. "Since you know Aryana’s identity, why did you call her Mu Lan?"

Mu Chen clasped his shoulder which was still very painful. He was thankful that Erik was still reasonable and did not aim for his face.

"It was Grandpa who brought her to the hospital. She was on her last breath. Mu Lan was the name he would have given to her granddaughter."

Erik’s face turned pale when he heard Mu Chen say that Aryana was on the brink of death. "I searched for her for a long time. I have even put a reward nationwide, but there was no news of her. Now I understand why."

Mu Chen saw Erik’s domineering aura disappear and was replaced by pain and anguish.

"I will arrange for her to be transferred back to Central District."

Mu Chen chuckled. Erik looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"I am young and not the right person that can decide on this. Grandpa is coming over. You discuss it with him. My sister suffered so much and I guess her suffering is related to you somehow."

Erik wanted to ask him what he meant by sister but Mu Chen passed him his cell phone. It contained photos of Aryana when she was found on the beach and her first few days in the hospital.

Erik’s heart ached and he dropped the phone in his hand as if he was scalded by it. Mu Chen has good reflexes. He caught the phone before it touched the ground.

"What an ingrate. If not for my quick action my phone would have been broken."

Erik did not hear what Mu Chen said. His legs were so weak that he slumped on the floor. He did not care about his reputation at all.
