Chapter 129: I Am Here To Pick You Up!

Somehow Aryana accidentally opened the entertainment section and her heart sank when she saw photos of Cassie and Erik eating together in a restaurant. In one of the photos, Cassie was leaning toward Erik and she seems to be listening intently to whatever he was saying. They looked like they were a couple on a romantic date.

"What’s wrong?" Clark asked her when he noticed her expression.

"Nothing." She gave him a half-hearted smile. "Why are you just watching me? You drink as well. Don’t let such expensive wine go to waste."

Clark poured another glass for Aryana and then he filled his as well.

He lifted his glass for a toast.

"For more projects in the future and for a successful collaboration," Clark said cheerfully.

Aryana clinked her wine glass with Clark. "For a successful collaboration." She repeated. She need a diversion to drown her heartache when she saw the photos.

She drank her wine leisurely savoring every ounce of it.

Three sets of cameras were focused on them and captured the toast and the smile on both Aryana and Clark’s faces.

Gram Ham browsed the photos sent to him. He frowned when he saw the photo of Clark and Aryana walking on the sidewalk and there was a big gap between them. Clark’s hands were in his pocket.

"That stupid son of mine. He cannot even take advantage of a situation and turn it into an opportunity. No wonder he has had no girlfriend until now." He grumbled.

"Says someone who doesn’t know how to woe girls. If I wasn’t so bold to confess to you, do you think we ended up getting married? Like father like son." Mrs. Ham snorted.

Gram Ham grinned mischievously. He continued browsing the photos and his smile reached up to his ears. ’Looked like they are enjoying their dinner.’

At another restaurant in the north of Central District, Erik was having dinner with Cassie while he continue to give her pointers on the marketing strategy.

Cassie planned the inauguration of Timeless Beauty in two weeks. She wanted to maximize the publicity she could get during the inauguration and she grabbed this opportunity to ask her grandpa to seek Erik’s help. She knew that Erik will not be able to refuse her grandfather.

Erik checked his cell phone. He was wondering why he did not receive any messages since he entered the restaurant. His cell phone was on silent mode. ’Why was it on silent mode? I can’t remember setting my cellphone on silent mode.’

He saw that he has unopened messages from Aryana and her bodyguard. He opened Aryana’s message first. She sent it a little past seven. He swiped his finger and frowned when he read the message.

’He is dining with Clark?’ Erik looked unhappy.

He looked at the photos that the bodyguard sent him.

It was photos of Aryana and Clark in the hospital’s foyer and when they entered and exited a VIP ward.

He continued swiping down. He saw photos of them walking side by side and when Clark held the door for Aryana and when he pulled a chair for her.

Erik clenched his fist. ’Damn it!’

The bodyguard told him that there were three of them taking photos and the two looked like paparazzi.

"Erik, is something wrong?" Cassie asked when she saw him get busy with his cell phone. She purposely set his phone to silent mode when she got a chance earlier to prevent him from being distracted. ’Damn! Why did he have to check his phone when everything had been going smoothly.’

"Something came up and I need to go." Erik grabbed a glass of water and downed it in three gulps.

"I am not done yet and I don’t have a car. You said you are going to send me home." Cassie said pitifully. She looked at Erik with pleading eyes.

"I’ll have someone send you home." He called the waiter and told him to put the bill under his tab. Then he left hurriedly.

’Damn, he did not even say goodbye. What is so urgent for him to leave me here when we were having a good time earlier.’ She fretted.

A man dressed in black approached her.

"I am one of Mr. Lee’s bodyguards and he instructed me to send you home Miss Lopez. The car is parked outside."

Cassie gritted her teeth. She only finished half of her food and was not done eating yet. She purposely ate slowly so Erik could spend more time with her but he still left her in the end. She did not want to look stupid eating without a date so she reluctantly followed the bodyguard outside.

"Hey, you. What happened to your boss? Why did he leave hurriedly? Is there an emergency?" Cassie’s voice was tinged with arrogance.

The bodyguard maintained a stoic expression. "I am sorry Miss Lopez. We only follow him. We don’t know where he is going." Inwardly, he sneered. ’What a rude woman.’

"Where is she?" Erik called the bodyguard.

"They are still in the restaurant Boss. They are finishing a bottle of white wine."

Erik checked the time and it was already past 8:30 pm.

"She spent one and a half an hour dining with Clark and they are not done yet?"

"Miss Jones and Mr. Ham seemed to be talking about business, Boss. But now both of them seemed to be enjoying the wine." Kurt, the bodyguard shared his observation carefully.

"Call Ben and tell him that I’ll pick up Aryana from the restaurant." He ended the call.

Did he make a mistake in allowing her to go to the hospital? Why would she bump into Clark? Was it a coincidence or planned by Clark?

He called the bodyguard again and ask him to check if Gram Ham was hospitalized this morning. The bodyguard confirmed that indeed he was just admitted to the hospital in the morning.

’So was it really just coincidence?’ He asked himself.

Erik told the driver to park outside. From the car, he could see Clark and Aryana through the glass wall. While their table seemed to be secluded, people can still see them from the outside. But then, wasn’t that a good thing? It means Aryana was not hiding anything.

Erik saw Clark pour her another glass of wine.

He called Aryana. She picked up after three rings.

"Hello." Aryana’s voice from the other line sounded surprised.

"Honey, you said I go home early but I found out that you are still out so I came to pick you up. I’m outside of the restaurant now."
