Chapter 125: The Interpreter

A group of foreigners were crowding at Camille’s table. They were Koreans who wanted to collaborate with Gaeya Corporation on developing a beach resort on the northern most part of the country.

Amaya saw that Camille was frustrated and so the Koreans. She approached them and greeted with a warm smile. Her dimples appeared. She turned to Camille and asked her.

"Camille what’s wrong?" Aryana could sense that there is a problem because Camille is not her usual self and panicking a bit.

"Thank God Aryana. I remebered that you can speak Korean. Their interpreter got sick and stayed in the hotel. None of them can speak English well and they are giving me a headache." Camille complained.

Aryana chuckled.

"Which room do they need to go to? Are they meeting with the CEO?" Aryana asked.

"Please lead them to the boardroom. Yes, they are meeting with the CEO. I’ll send coffee later." Camille left her and went to the pantry.

She led the Koreans to the boardroom. "Hello, my name is Aryana Jones, an employee in this company and I know a little bit of Korean." Aryana introduced herself in Korean.

"I am Yang Dae Jung, CEO of Yang Corporation" a tall slender and fair looking man introduced himself to Aryana. He extended his hand for a hand shake which Aryana accepted. She also slightly bowed to the CEO.

Camille came with the coffee and requested the five Koreans to take their seat.

Erik entered the boardroom 5 minutes before the start of the meeting. He was surprised to Aryana there.

"Boss, their interpreted got a severe stomach ache and cannot leave the hotel. I remembered Aryana knows Korean so she can interpret for them." Camille explained.

Erik looked at Aryana and nodded. ’As expected of my wife, she is always a saving grace.’

Erik’s grandfather and another major shareholder who was also a member of the board arrived at the room just in time for the meeting to start.

’This must be another big project. The chairman of the board is here.’ Aryana thought.

George Lee narrowed his eyes when it met Aryana’s hazel eyes. Aryana bowed slightly to show her respect.

"What is she doing here?" He whispered to Erik. "Isn’t Camille back?"

"She is here as an interpreter Grandpa. Their interpreter got sick and can’t make it today and we only know about that when they came today. Aryana knows Korean." There was a hint of pride in Erik’s voice when he said that.

"So how many languages does she know?" George Lee asked with a lowered voice.

"English, German, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French." Erik answered him back.

"That many?" George Lee sounded surprised.

"She majored in Languages Grandpa."

They were interrupted when the Koreans stood and started introducing themselves.

The meeting took two hours to complete. The contract has been previously reviewed by both parties and what was left was just the formalities before signing.

As the interpreter, Aryana was forced to join them for lunch. The conversation during lunch was no longer business related. CEO Yang Dae Jung asked what were the places Aryana wished to visit in Korea.

Of course, Aryana shared the top tourist spots she wanted to see in Korea.

Yang Dae Jung handed her his calling card. "When you go to Korea, you can contact me and I can bring you around."

Aryana was caught by surprised. She didn’t know whether to accept the card or not. In the end she accepted it and gave the CEO an akward smile.

Erik hated the fact that he did not understand a word of the exchanges between the Korean CEO and Aryana.

"What did he say?" He asked Aryana when he saw the akward smile on her face.

Aryana spoke in Korean.

"I appreciate CEO Yang’s kindness. Actually, I have a lot of Korean friends from school and they were pestering me to come visit Korea. I’ll do that one of these days."

She turned to Erik and said softly. "He said when I go to Korea, I can contact him and he can show me around. But I told him I have a lot of Korean friends from school."

Aryana saw Erik relaxed. ’Is he jealous again?’

During the afternoon break Aryana looked for Elaine. They went to the cafeteria to have coffee.

"Elaine, I’d like to know if you know of someone who can make clothes for both men and women?"

"We can ask a recommendation from schools who teach dressmaking and tailoring." Elaine looked at her with interest. "Why are you asking? Don’t tell me you are going to put up your own clothing brand and store?" Elaine asked.

"You are so smart Elaine, you guessed it. I came across a very good designer and I hope to convert his designs into finish product and then I’ll promote online."

"Really? Can I be your business partner? I’ll contact the school soon." Elaine was excited.

"This is just very small business you know. But yes, we can be business partner."

"I’ll let you know once I get in touch with the school." Elaine pondered for a while before continuing, "There is something I want to show you."

Elaine took her cellphone and send Aryana a series of links.

When Aryana opened the first link she photos of her dining with their guest from Germany, another one when she was eating beside Antonio during the wrap up lunch when she had a photoshoot with Cassie and another photo of her and Erik having dinner the other night. But only the back of Erik was shown.

She read the article and it accused Aryana of dating multiple men at the same time. There were not too many comments but most of the comments were against her saying that she is climbing into men’s bed to get her resources.

She saw a familiar name in the comments defending her, explaining that some of the men in the photos were clients of the company.

Aryana looked at Elaine curiously.

"Be honest Elaine. Are you SoaringPhoenix?"
