Chapter 103: Nightmare!

Erik and Aryana were enjoying their meal when they heard a knock on the door. A few seconds later, Cassie came with a thermo jug in her hand. It was apparent that she just came from a photo shoot. She was wearing a dainty white dress and her make up was light making her look innocent and pure.

"I hope I am not too late. Grandpa said that the mushrooms in this soup will promote healing of the wound." She said sweetly. She sounded really nice and amiable.

"Actually Cassie, you don’t have to do this." Aryana said akwardly.

"Karla is my friend. I felt responsible for what happened. Just consider this as a token of my apology."

Erik took the jug from her. "Thank you Cassie." He looked at her briefly and Cassie’s eyelashes fluttered.

Erik opened the thermo jug and poured the contents on a bowl. He tasted the soup using Aryana’s spoon. "Drink it while it is still hot." He said and gently passed the bowl to Aryana.

Cassie clenched her fist when she saw that Aryana used the spoon that Erik used to taste the soup.

Aryana did not want to drink the soup but she did not want to be impolite either so she finished half of the soup. It was indeed delicious.

Cassie took the thermo jug and was preparing to leave when she seemed to remember something.

"By the way Aryana, have we met before? You looked familiar."

"We met in Italy. I suppose." Aryana said.

"No, not in Italy. It is your eyes. The color is very unique. It reminded me of someone from long ago." Cassie glanced at Erik.

Aryana paused. She has her father’s eyes. Did Cassie met her father? It was most likely since Cassie was Erik’s first love.

"I now remember. How can I forget? You’re eyes reminded me of Robert." Cassie said as if she was in a daze.

"I particularly remembered because it is only his eyes that I would see every time I look at the mirror in the driver’s seat." She said softly like she was just talking to herself.

Erik stiffened. His face turned cold and gloomy.

Aryana who was about to drink water from the bottle froze momentarily.

"I inherited the color of my eyes from my father. It is very unique and lovely." Aryana said with confidence. She will not allow Cassie to look down on her or her father.

Cassie pretended not to understand what Aryana said. She stayed silent waiting for Aryana to say more.

"So you knew my father? Oh I guess I haven’t made myself clear earlier. I have my father’s ’lovely eyes.’ I am Robert’s daughter." Aryana stressed the word ’lovely eyes.’ She wanted to feign calmness but her voice trembled. She has long accepted the fact that her father has left but it still made her sad.

"Robert was a good man. He was very respectful. When Erik was too busy, he would send Robert to fetch me or send me off.."

"It is time for Aryana to apply the medicine so you can go now." Erik cut her off. He was very uncomfortable the way Cassie was talking about Robert.

Aryana was relieved. Cassie was actually praising Robert but how come she felt that she was looking down on her father?

Cassie understood that Erik was driving her out. She smiled at him then at Aryana. "I will be leaving them. Take care you two." She exited the ward in graceful strides. Once she was out, her expression turned ugly. She can’t believe that Erik drove her out of the ward.

Then, she remembered the look on Aryana’s face when she talked about her father. Her ugly expression turned into an evil grin.

"Did Daddy know Cassie for a long time?" Aryana decided to ask Erik about what was bothering her earlier.

"About six months. Cassie and I just started dating back then." Erik said. He stood and cleaned the table.

Aryana went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. She was feeling depressed. At the same time, she cannot take the smell and stickiness of her hair so she decided to wash it.

"Yana, what’s taking you so long?" Erik opened the door to the bathroom and found Aryana rinsing her hair in the sink.

"What are you doing? Be careful your wound might get wet."

Aryana took a towel and used it to wrap around her head. "Ah, now I feel much better. I was feeling a little down earlier..."

Erik understood her. He hugged her and kissed her on the lips. He only released her mouth when she became breathless. He took the hair dryer and helped her dry her hair. He then gently applied the ointment on her back.

Aryana found herself in a dark alley. She was confused. Wasn’t she in the hospital earlier? She was walking in the alley when she saw a group of drunk men bullying four women.

Aryana carefully approached them. She must help those women. She was already near them when she saw a man approached the bullies and beat them one by one.

’Wait, isn’t that Erik? What is he doing here.’ She called for him but she found out that she could not speak.

Only three of the bullies remained standing. Someone grabbed one of the four ladies and pointed a knife to her neck. From then on, it was a losing battle for Erik. He was beaten but cannot fight back because he was being threatened with that girl.

Aryana was horrified. ’Erik you have to fight back.’ She wanted to approach and help him but she cannot move. It seemed that she was just like a spectator in someone else’s dream.

The man who was beating Erik cursed him. He took a gun from the man who was holding the woman and pointed it at Erik’s head. Aryana screamed but no voice came out. Out of nowhere, a man lunged forward and threw a few punches on the man with gun. The man was furious. He kicked and punched back. The he pulled the trigger.

The man fell down. Aryana screamed. Somehow she knew that the man was her daddy. She saw him struggle on his feet and sprawled his whole frame over Erik to protect him.

"Daddy... No....Erik.."

"Yana, wake up." Erik shook Aryana to wake her up. She has been screaming and sobbing and he cannot wake her up. He shook her harder this time and she finally opened her eyes.

Erik was shocked to see how much fear was reflected in her eyes.
