Chapter 41: Where we’re heading...
"We should probably get going," Tryson said, excitement lacing his voice.
Without another word, he turned towards the car, started the engine, and then—knowing full well that Angel’s gaze was on him—flashed a playful smile.
Angel quickly looked away, her heart fluttering as she focused on the road ahead instead.
"I wonder where you’re taking me," she mused, her voice calm but laced with curiosity.
This time, she turned back to meet Tryson’s gaze.
He simply smiled, his eyes holding a secret. "You’ll see," he teased.
Angel let out a soft sigh and turned her attention to the window, watching as streetlights flickered past, illuminating the road ahead. The quiet hum of the car mixed with the steady rhythm of her thoughts.
No matter what had happened, this moment—this escape—felt right. She deserved this. She deserved happiness.
But despite the warmth settling in her chest, a shadow of worry crept in.
Arthur.
What would he do once he found out?
The thought unsettled her, making her lower her head briefly.
Tryson had made his choice, but explaining all of this to Arthur... that was a battle she wasn’t sure she was ready for.
And yet, there was no turning back now.
"Are you worried about something?" Tryson’s voice broke through Angel’s thoughts, pulling her back to the present.
She turned her gaze towards him, her heart hammering against her ribs. A part of her wanted to tell him everything—to spill the fears, the doubts, the lingering uncertainty swirling inside her.
But instead, she forced a soft smile onto her lips.
"It’s nothing. Just... random thoughts," she said quickly, her voice light, almost dismissive.
Tryson nodded, but he wasn’t fooled. He could feel it—something was weighing on her, something she wasn’t ready to say.
Not yet.
Without a word, he reached out, his fingers seeking hers. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver down Angel’s spine as he gently intertwined their hands.
She turned her gaze back to him, and at that moment, their eyes locked, unspoken emotions passing between them like a silent confession.
"I don’t know what the future holds for us, Angel," Tryson murmured, his voice steady, sincere. "But trust me... I don’t ever want to lose you again. I’ll do everything I can to be there when you need me."
Angel parted her lips as if to speak, but the words caught in her throat. Instead, she simply nodded, her fingers tightening around his.
Still, as she turned away, a quiet sigh of exhaustion escaped her lips. Her mind drifted to what lay ahead—the one thing she couldn’t avoid any longer.
She had to hand in her resignation to Arthur.
This was all she had wanted—to find her way back to Tryson, the man she had always loved. And now that she finally had him, she needed to let go of the past.
For good.
Angel turned her gaze towards Tryson, her heart swelling with warmth. Then, without warning, she leaned in and pressed a soft peck against his cheek.
Tryson froze.
For a moment, he was caught completely off guard, his composure slipping. Then, to Angel’s amusement, a deep blush spread across his cheeks.
She smirked. "You know, it’s surprising to see CEO Tryson blushing like a kid," she teased, tilting her head playfully.
Tryson let out a chuckle, shaking his head. "Well, you’re the one who makes me like this," he admitted. "Do you really think I can just stop?"
Angel grinned. "Well, I don’t want you to stop. Ever. I love seeing you like this," she said, her voice softer now, more sincere.
As the car continued down the road, Angel’s eyes flickered to the view outside.
She suddenly noticed they were entering an estate, and soon enough, a large billboard came into view. Her brows furrowed.
A resort?
She frowned slightly, curiosity creeping in. "Tryson?" she called out, turning to face him.
He glanced at her briefly before flashing a knowing smile.
"I know you must be wondering," he said. "But it’s a surprise. I wanted to do something special for you... for your health. And for the baby."
Angel felt her breath hitch slightly. Her chest tightened—not with fear, but with something warmer, something unfamiliar yet comforting.
She nodded slowly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I never knew you cared about me this much," she teased, though there was an undeniable softness in her tone.
Tryson chuckled again before lifting their still-entwined hands, bringing the back of hers to his lips. He kissed it gently, his eyes never leaving hers.
And in that moment, Angel felt it—something deep, something real.
Something that made her believe, for the first time in a long while, that maybe... just maybe... this love was worth fighting for.
"Trust me when I say you’re in for something much more, okay? I want to treat you like the princess you are," Tryson said, his voice laced with sincerity.
As the car rolled to a stop at the entrance of the resort, Angel’s face lit up with excitement.
Before Tryson could even step around to open the door for her like a true gentleman, she was already out, her eagerness getting the best of her.
Tryson let out a chuckle, shaking his head as he watched her practically bounce with excitement.
Resort staff immediately noticed her arrival, rushing forward with warm smiles and impeccable service as they ushered her toward the entrance.
He followed at a relaxed pace, his eyes never leaving her. There was something about seeing Angel like this—genuinely happy—that filled him with a deep, undeniable satisfaction.
As they reached the grand entrance, the resort manager herself stepped forward, offering Tryson a special welcome.
With a polite nod and a charming smile, Tryson acknowledged her before turning his attention back to Angel.
They walked together through the resort, guided towards their destination. But just as they were about to settle in, Tryson’s phone buzzed in his pocket.
He glanced at the screen, his brows furrowing slightly.
"I think I need to take this," he said, his voice apologetic.
Leaning in, he pressed a gentle kiss to Angel’s forehead.
She smiled up at him, her heart fluttering at the unexpected gesture. "Alright, don’t take too long," she teased.
Tryson smirked before stepping aside, lifting the phone to his ear.
Angel watched him for a moment before turning her gaze back to the beautiful resort, anticipation thrumming in her chest.
"You two must be the new couple everyone’s talking about," the woman leading them said with a warm smile. "The entire country is fantasizing about your relationship, ma’am."
Angel felt a rush of heat rise to her cheeks. She hadn’t expected such a bold remark, and despite herself, she blushed deeply.
"Thank you," she replied, her voice laced with both gratitude and shyness.
