THE BILLIONAIRE STILL WANTS HER!
Chapter 108: Caught unaware

Chapter 108: Caught unaware

Catching them off guard with her abrupt question, Angel left Tryson and Alex momentarily stunned.

A frown creased their faces as they struggled to understand why she had said such a thing.

Yet, deep within their hearts, both men knew—it was inevitable. Sooner or later, she was bound to bring it up.

"Tryson," Angel called, her voice carrying a weight that made him tense.

She turned toward him, her gaze locking onto his, but all she saw was the same confusion mirrored in his expression, just like the others.

Of course, she expected that. After all, Tryson knew nothing about her past.

"I’ll be going now," she murmured, slipping her hand from his grasp.

Inside, her heart pounded violently against her ribs, each step she took feeling heavier than the last. The whirlwind of emotions threatened to consume her, yet she pressed on.

The man responsible for all the pain she had endured—the very one who had turned her world upside down—stood somewhere in the same space as her.

The thought alone made her chest tighten, and she fought to suppress the tears that burned behind her eyes.

She refused to cry. Not for him. Not for the man who had abandoned her.

But the more she tried to push it away, the more the agony resurfaced, raw and unforgiving. She had never imagined she would see him again, not in this lifetime.

Tryson watched as she walked away, her steps quick yet aimless, her posture rigid with turmoil. His gaze flickered to Alex and his partner before turning back to Angel’s retreating figure.

"Please excuse me," he said in a gentle yet firm tone before striding after her.

"Angel!" he called, but she didn’t respond.

She was lost in thought, moving as if she was trying to outrun the weight of her own memories.

Reaching for her arm, he grasped it gently.

The moment his fingers brushed her skin, he felt it—a tremor coursing through her body.

She shivered, as though his touch had pulled her back from the abyss of her thoughts. Slowly, she turned toward him, her wide eyes filled with emotions he couldn’t quite decipher.

Tryson knew this had everything to do with her past—specifically, the man she had always avoided talking about.

He had heard much of her so-called father, the man who had walked away from her when she was young, but he never expected to see her unravel like this.

A strange ache settled in his chest as he watched her struggle.

He had never seen her this vulnerable before, and it stirred something deep inside him—something protective.

"Angel," he said softly, his voice laced with concern.

She blinked rapidly, her long lashes fluttering as though trying to ward off the emotions that threatened to spill over.

"Angel, where are you going?" Tryson asked, his tone gentle, coaxing.

For a moment, just like before, she couldn’t find the words. The storm within her was too chaotic, too overwhelming.

And Tryson could only stand there, waiting—hoping she would let him in.

"I..." she muttered, but no words came. Nothing felt right.

"The restroom—you’re heading there, aren’t you?" Tryson asked sharply, his gaze searching hers.

Angel blinked, startled by the sudden realization. Had she even mentioned that? For a second, she hesitated, then simply nodded.

"Yes... I’m heading there," she murmured, lowering her gaze slightly as if trying to hide behind the words.

Tryson studied her intently, noticing the subtle tremble in her voice, the way her fingers twitched slightly at her sides. Something was off.

Reaching out, he gently placed his hand beneath her chin and lifted her head, forcing her to meet his eyes.

"Angel," he said softly, his tone steady, reassuring. "It looks like something is bothering you. Is there something I should know—something you’re not telling me?"

For a moment, she just stared at him.

Every fiber of her being wanted to speak, to lay bare the storm that raged inside her—to tell him about the battles she had fought, the pain she had endured, and the wounds inflicted by the very man Tryson seemed to hold in such high regard.

But as the weight of those unspoken words pressed against her chest, she gently pulled her chin free from his grasp and shook her head.

"It’s nothing," she whispered, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.

The silence that followed was suffocating, a deafening void between them.

But even through it, she saw it—the concern hidden behind the mask Tryson wore. His composed demeanor wavered, just for a second.

Did he think she was pushing him away? That she was embarrassed by his attention?

"Are you sure?" he asked again, his voice softer this time, as though he knew the truth but was giving her a chance to say it herself.

Angel swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded.

Oh, how she wished she could tell him everything. But no words could truly capture the depth of the ache she carried within her.

"Yeah... you know what? I’ll be heading to the toilet now," she said, turning quickly before he could say anything else.

Tryson watched as she walked away, an unfamiliar weight pressing heavily against his chest.

His breath came slow and measured, but it did little to ease the growing unease curling in his stomach.

He lifted a hand to his heart, fingers grazing the fabric of his shirt as if trying to steady something within himself.

He wasn’t sure why, but seeing Angel like this—so distant, so lost in the shadows of her past—stirred something deep inside him.

An ache that wasn’t just sympathy, but something stronger. Something personal.

This wasn’t just an act anymore.

He wanted to help her.

He wanted to take that pain away.

Taking a step forward, his decision already made, he was just about to follow her when—

A sharp, piercing sound shattered the air.

Gasps rippled through the murmuring crowd. Conversations halted. Movement ceased.

Tryson’s body stiffened as his head snapped toward the source of the noise.

His pulse pounded in his ears, but even through the haze of adrenaline, his gaze locked onto the scene before him.

His eyes widened.

"Mr. Alex!" Tryson called out, his voice slicing through the stunned silence.
