Selena sat outside the castle, hugging herself. She was in tears as she stared at the stars, sobbing silently.

"How did it get to this? All I wanted was a beautiful family, I wanted nothing else," she shook her head.

She sniffed, "Now, my mate seems to love Nyx again, she is not his mate," she wiped her face.

She rocked herself, her eyes reddening, "It is not my fault I am barren, I do not know why, so why does he take it so personal? All because Nyx is the mother of his heir now?"

She closed her eyes, more tears streaming down her face, "My life is now useless, nothing makes any meaning anymore," she sobbed.

"Selena?"

She stopped crying and turned around, it was Mark.

"Mark? Wh.. what are you doing here?"

He sat beside her, "Why are you crying? Is something wrong?"

She wrapped her arms around him, crying in his arms, "What is the matter with you? Tell me."

"I feel my life is ruined, what is the point of being here?"

"I know how you feel," he wrapped a hand around her, gently caressing her hair, "Stop crying now, it will do you no good."

He pulled her closer, "Change the way you think Selena, you have a lot of people to live for."

"That is because, I am useless, I have noticed how useless I am, I never meant anything to anyone, even my own sister is now against me!" She buried her face in his neck and cried harder.

Mark sighed, he could only pat her back gently, "Be calm, everything will be fine."

"I know you are trying to comfort me, I really appreciate it but you should not bother, there is no need doing it."

"If I do not comfort you, who will? Do you really want to live in depression?"

"Do I have a choice?" She croaked.

"Yes, you do, you have a choice, but you refuse to see it, stop being this way, it will not help you."

"Just let me be Mark, let me wallow in my sorrow, I was just too foolish for noticing this a long time ago," she sniffed.

"Do not be so hard on yourself, I am here for you," he kissed her forehead.

Her heart skipped a beat, "Why.. are you doing this? You know Oberon was displeased the last time," she gulped. Oberon had said nothing about it, no one knew, Mark in shame had gone to him and dropped his position, saying how unworthy he was of it.

"I know, I.." he sighed and disengaged from the hug, "I am sorry, I should not have done it," he held his head.

She pouted and hugged him again, "Stay with me, it does not matter anymore, he loves Nyx now."

"How are you so sure of that?"

"She is the mother of his heir, what else do you expect?"

He smiled softly, "You are still his mate, it does not change anything and I am sorry," he wanted to disengaged from the hug but she held him tighter.

"Please, stay," she whispered.

He exhaled softly and wrapped his arms around her, melting in her bosom.

She closed her eyes, Mark was warmer than Oberon, all he ever did was to have fun and then focus on his work, they never really ’made love.’

When Mark had first touched her, she felt a spark of so many desires she had always wanted to feel.

"Mark?"

"Hmm?"

"Look at me."

He looked at her, "What is the matter?"

She propped herself a little higher and kissed him eargerly.

He responded with so much hunger. They kissed passionately for a while.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. He moaned softly. He pushed his tongue in her mouth, exploring her mouth.

"I love you," she said under her breath.

Mark stopped what he was doing and stared her in shock. In a moment, he realised what he was doing.

"Are you.. being serious?"

She nodded, "I really do. I do not think I have found any other fulfilment other than you," she said with puppy eyes.

He creased his brows, "I.. was not.. expecting this," he said in shock.

"I know, you are the only one who cares, no one else," she bit her lips.

He blinked, trying to process everything she had just said.

"But.. I do.."

"I know," she sniffed, "It is not your fault," she looked away.

He twisted his lips, thinking of what to say next.

"I know you do not love me, but please do not treat me like the way the rest of them treat me, you are difference, you are special," she croaked.

He pulled her in a hug, "I am always here for you, you do not have to worry about anything," he cooed in her ears.

She held him tighter, "I love you so much," she sniffed.

"It.. is fine.. no worries," he cuddled her.

She felt so comfortable in his arms, "Thank you so much," she sobbed.

"Stop crying, I already told you," he wiped her face, "There is no need crying over anything."

She nodded, "Yes, I will no.." she inhaled sharply, "I will be fine, I will not cry anymore," she shook her head.

"That is very good," he kissed her forehead again.

They stayed together for the rest of the evening, Selena had found a way to drown her worries, at least for the moment...
