Chapter 53: Her unseen child

Oberon walked into the room looking really angry, his eyes landed on Nyx who was just reading a book.

"And what are you doing there?"

She gulped, "I was bored and had nothing to do, so I decided to read."

He looked grumpy, "Read a book," he grunted.

She looked at him for a while and then continued reading her book.

He walked to the dressing table and sat down, he must have been irked that particular morning, because he was boiling with rage all over.

"Nyx,"he called.

She raised her head, "Yes?"

"Get over here," he ordered.

She was confused, she creased her brows, "What did I do?"

"Get over here and do not ask questions!"

She quickly stood up and went to where he stood.

"What is the matter?" She asked shakily.

He looked at her with disdain, "Are you busy?"

She shook her head, "I was reading a book before you called."

He rolled his eyes, "You were reading a book, do you not know you are the Luna of this pack?!"

She gulped, "I am still learning my role, I am not really used to this."

He squinted his eyes, "How would you learn it, if you kept reading useless love stories everyday?"

She felt hurt, "Useless love stories?"

"That is clearly what you were reading, you will not know anything if you keep wasting your time! This is not the Luna the pack wants!"

His words stung her, "But it is not my fault, I have not found any book relating to a Luna’s role."

"Are you still talking about books?"

She flinched in fear, unsure of what his reaction might be. She slowly nodded, "Yes."

He squinted his eyes, "You have my mother do you not?"

"It would not be nice if I disturbed her, she often needs her alone time."

"Is she still the Luna? Who is the Luna here?"

She gulped, "Me."

"Then, give me a valid reason, why you think she needs her alone time, she could talk to you! You are her daughter, and the Luna, why do you not get that?!"

She flinched, tears stung her eyes, "I did not know, I thought I would bother her if I just went to meet her in her free time."

Oberon was so irked, he stood up and banged the table, "You are making matters worse!"

She was scared and drew back in fear, "I am sorry," she said quietly, tears blurring her vision.

He clenched his fists, "First, the court irritates you, you come into your own chambers and you’re irritated the more," he angrily rolled his eyes and stormed out of the room.

She stood gaping at the door in shock. Tears slid down freely down her cheek, still wondering what she had done.

"What did I do?" She asked herself, she looked at the mirror, her reflection showing her how sad she was as at that moment.

"I never wanted to be Luna in the first place, I am finally trying to learn all about it and he just comes from nowhere and starts berating me?"

She sat on the chair, she rested her back against the chair. Her heart bled because of what Oberon had said, how could he just accuse of her something knowing fully well she wasn’t used to it?

"I did not commit crime being a Luna, why is he being so mean?" She sniffed, and wiped her eyes but the tears continued to flow.

"I did not do anything wrong, I am trying my best to be the Luna of a pack, a position I know nothing of."

"Probably the reason you should leave from here," she heard a voice.

She looked around startled.

"Mother, it is me."

She turned to look at her child, which was yet to be born.

She was a little bit surprised to see him, "You came," she said, with more of happiness than surprise.

She spread her arms and he crawled to her and entered her arms. She hugged him tightly, "My child," she cuddled him.

"Father was not very nice, was he?"

She looked at him and shook her head, "Not at all, he was just being grumpy."

He gave her a knowing look, she was trying to defend him again.

"Why do you allow him treat you this way?"

"He is the Alpha, do I have a choice?"

He shook his head slowly, "What do you mean by that? Him being the Alpha, does not require you being treated like a puppet."

She sighed, "I can not challenge him, that could mean death."

He pouted his lips, "You will not die, eventually you will see why you need to leave, but for now, I do not think you will leave."

She hugged him again, "I hope you come to me soon."

He smiled, his dimpled cheeks giving, "Very soon, but not now," he giggled.

She couldn’t help but admire him, he was just a baby but he had admirable traits, "You are not like Oberon in any way," she shook her head.

He giggled, "That is because I am like you," he chuckled.

She covered her mouth, her eyes completely blurred with vision, this little child gave her a lot of joy.

"I wish you could come a bit earlier, I am already yearning for my son," she caressed his cheeks.

"Me too, I want to come early, but for some reason, I can not," his eyes drooped.

She smiled bitterly, "You will, I know you will."

They embraced each other.

"I love you mother," he said softly.

"I love you more, my son."

Nyx did not realise her all of her talking and laughing attracted the attention of the maid that wanted to come into her room.

She listened attentively, as she heard Nyx call someone, ’Her child.’ She was alarmed and ran over to meet Oberon as fast as she could.

She got to him, "Your Majesty," she bowed, still panting in shock.

He looked at her, "And what do you want?"

"It is lady Nyx, she is.. is.."

"Say what you want to already!"

She gulped, "She is talking to herself, and calling someone her child, apparently, she is the only one in that room."

Oberon was surprised, "Nyx can not be mentally deranged all of a sudden, can she?"

Together, they want to Nyx’s room.
