Chapter 51: Nyx’s shining luck

Days were gradually turning into weeks. Archi was now some weeks old. He was one of a kind as sometimes he did things that were too shocking.

At 12 weeks old, he could already crawl which shocked Nyx to the core. Sometimes, he attempted to stand.

Whenever, Nyx was preparing a meal, he would be in the kitchen, trying to help his mother in his own little way.

He was in all a very sweet child, but could get very troublesome at times. He had already developed a bond with Dora and considered her his elder sister.

"Archi, not again!" Nyx rushed to stop Archi from crawling outside.

"Dora, the door is open!"

"Oh, I’m coming, to lock it!"

Nyx exhaled, "Oh, Archi, you might be strange but you still give me a lot of joy," she cuddled him.

He giggled, and held her face, she couldn’t help the smile that crept on her face.

Dora came in and closed the door behind her, "Phew! We made great sales today!" She said excitedly.

"I know we did, today has been very lucky."

Dora came and gently tugged Archi’s cheeks, "Archi was our shining luck," she grinned.

He clapped in excitement as if he knew what they were talking about.

Dora stretched out her arms to carry him.

"Phew, he has been so much of a stress lately, he’s getting bigger and naughtier everyday," Nyx shook her head, smiling.

Dora sucked her teeth, "He is still our luck though," she kissed his head.

Nyx rolled her eyes playfully, "Of course, and stress too."

"Oh, come on Nyx, admit it, he has brought good luck to us, I mean, he is the reason we came here, a very peaceful place, and it is closer to the market, most of the women like coming over to our spot because of him."

Nyx smiled, "He is my Archi after all," she said, her eyes gleaming with pride.

"He definitely is."

She took the pot down, "This should do, we have supper ready," she wiped her forehead.

"Nyx, do you mind if Archi and I go over to the other side to pick some fruits?"

"Do you not get tired of fruits?" She looked at her.

Dora shook her head, "I do not want to be tired of fruits, they are the best."

"Dora," she drawled.

"Please Nyx, come on Archi, help me plead with your mother," she pouted at Archi.

She turned to look at Dora, "Do not be so funny now," but Dora had made Archi face his mother, his large eyes darting, his lips forming a pout.

Nyx couldn’t say no with Archi’s eyes being so cute.

"Okay, fine, but be quick," she sighed.

"Yay, thank you Nyx," she grinned. She quickly dressed Archi up and headed to the door.

"Be careful with Archi, okay?" She shouted after her.

"I will, thank you!" She skipped out of the house.

"She is going to make him love the wilds," she chuckled and continued setting the table for supper.

It was still bright, the evening breeze was still cool, and the birds were now retreating to their nests.

Dora held Archi, and crossed to the other side to pick some mangoes that were growing on the trees.

"We are going to extract all theit juices Archi, hehe," she grinned happily.

She got to the trees and put Archi on the grasses.

"Wait here Archi, let me go pluck some mangoes," she went to one of the trees and climbed to get some of the fruits.

Archi began to crawl, "No! Archi do not go anywhere!" She ran back to him to stop him from crawling.

"What am I going to do with you now?"

She sighed and tied him to the tree, she was about to climb.

"This should keep you from moving about, do not worry, I will soon be done picking those fruits."

She climbed the tree again, to continue picking the mangoes.

Archi clapped, looking around. He made a funny noise that got Dora’s attention, "What is that Archi?" She looked down but he didn’t seem to be having any trouble down there.

"Be careful down there Archi, I am almost done, okay?"

She continued picking as much as she could.

There was a scream from below, she panicked and looked down but it was Archi who had screamed.

She was getting scared, "Why is he behaving strangely today?"

She gulped, "Maybe, I should have left him with Nyx, he is acting so strange today," she shook her head and continued.

Archi kept looking at his right side, he pointed towsrds and clapped, but Dora didn’t seem to pay attention to it because she was still picking mangoes.

"Just a few more, and that is it, these should last me and Archi a few days," she smiled.

She heard a low growl, startled, she looked to her side, her jaws dropped when she saw a wulver with Archi.

Her heart almost dropped to her stomach, "Archi!" She screamed.

The wulver didn’t seem of any harm but Dora was already scared. She thought of a way to distract the wulver away from Archi.

She quietly got down but unfortunately, the wulver had seen her get down.

It grunted when he saw her, she was so terrified.

"What are you doing with him? Go away!"

Her statement seemed to have angered him, as he reared up on his hind legs ready to charge at her.

She was confused, because Archi was beside him and he was still tied.

"Why did I not leave him with Nyx?" She asked herself, already feeling guilty.

It charged at her but she was quick to get out of his way.

All she wanted to do, was to untie Archi, and get both of them out of here.

"Please, go away, leave us alone," she cried but the wulver wasn’t paying attention.

She kept running around the tree, she was getting dizzy, she missed her steps and fell down.

The wulver got to where she was, he raised his hand to strike her but he suddenly stopped as if his hand was under some kind of spell.

"Let her go," she heard a voice but couldn’t find who had said it.

The wulver put his hand down, walked to where Archi was and sat beside him.

Dora raised her head, her head still spun so she couldn’t see them clearly.

When her head had stopped spinning, she found Archi loose and the wulver playing with him!

"Archi?" She called.

He looked at her and flashed her a smile, "He is harmless," he said.
