Chapter 42: After Nyx

"Are you sure you found her there? I do not want any stories if we get there!" He warned her.

Liza replied confidently, "I am pretty sure your majesty, I saw her with my two naked eyes."

He sighed, "Hmm, if you say so. Will we find her there if we got there now?"

She nodded, "I am positive about that your highness," she nodded confidently.

He sighed, "She better be where she is," he muttered to himself.

He stood up, but then remembered everything Selena had told him earlier. Though he wanted to find Nyx, he didn’t want Selena to feel bad.

He exhaled, rang a small bell on his table, and Mark came running in.

"You called for me, your Majesty."

"Nyx’s mother," he pointed to Lisa, "Knows where Nyx is, you have to follow her to see where Nyx is located."

"Yes your Majesty," he bowed. He faced Lisa, "Let us go at once," he left the study room, Lisa walking behind him.

"Hmm, I do not know why, but this definitely doesn’t feel right at all. It is as if something will go wrong," he shook his head.

Mark prepared some group of people to go with him. Lisa was to ride with Mark, while the rest followed them behind.

"Where exactly did you see her madam?"

"I saw her at the big market, she was selling wooly sweaters," she replied.

"To the big market we shall go then," they set out at once to the big market.

"We are almost there, just a few yards away and you will find her," Lisa told them.

The horses trotted into the market. The people there were quite surprised, because Royal horses never really entered the market.

"She should be somewhere around here, just keep looking."

"I just hope so," Mark muttered.

Dora noticed the horses trotting into the market, "Are those not royal horses?"

Nyx noticed them and gasped, "Oh my goodness, what are they doing here?"

She stood up, "Dora, I can not stay another minute here. I have to go," she picked up Archi and rushed out in haste.

"Nyx? Wait, where are you going to?"

She didn’t answer, she continued her hastened steps out of that area.

Lisa sighted Dora, "She is with that lady, go that way."

They trotted there till they got to the spot where Dora was.

Mark got down, he looked around, but there was no sign of Nyx. He looked at Lisa.

"Where is she?"

She frowned, "She was here the last time I came here," she looked at Dora, "Where is Nyx, where has she gone to?"

Dora blinked, stuttering, "She.. she just... went out."

One of the men who accompanied Mark, sighted Nyx scurrying out of the market through another route.

"There she is!"

Mark saw here, "Come on! Go after her!"

They climbed on the horse again, and went after her. Dora panicked.

"What has she done?"

They hurried after her. Nyx noticed them coming after her.

"Oh my, they already saw me."

She hurried away, it was not easy as she was with Archi.

"Come on! Hurry up! We must go back to the palace with her!" Mark shouted at the rest of them.

"I have to get away from them somewhere, there is no way I am going back to that palace."

She saw another route leading to another direction. Though she wasn’t familiar with it, she had no choice but to take it. She wanted to get away from these people as quickly as she could.

She took the route quickly but it seemed she was not getting away that easily because Mark was smart enough to keep his eyes on her.

She was getting weak and frustrated, she couldn’t run for very long.

"It is either I let them catch me or I hide," she told herself.

"You can not let her get away like that, she must return back to the king!" Lisa yelled at Mark.

Mark was too concentrated on keeping track of Nyx to reply Lisa.

Nyx weak and frustrated had to think of something quickly lest she’d be captured and taken back to the place she detested.

She hurried with Archi in her arms, her eyes caught a large tree a few meters away. She looked back, she had to trick them somehow to get away from them.

She turned left, mingling with the bushes, she covered Archi properly so the bushed wouldn’t touch his skin.

Mark and the rest of them stopped, "There is no way we can get in there," Mark gritted his teeth.

"Someone will have to get down!" Lisa said.

Mark was irritated, "Would you do it? Then go ahead!" He fired back at Lisa.

She growled lowly and got down from the horse, "Fine then! But just you know that I will make sure the king knows about this!" She threatened and walked into the bushes.

Nyx had taken advantage of the fact they were being distracted, walked as quietly as she could to the tree, squatted there, hiding herself.

Lisa walked into the bushes, squeezing herself among the entangled vines and leaves.

"I curse you Nyx! You are such a horrible child!" Lisa cursed angrily.

She walked around there for a while but couldn’t find her. She was angry, "Where could she have gone to?"

She walked around for a while but still didn’t see where Nyx was.

"Did she suddenly disappear?" She asked feeling angry and scared at the same time.

She came out to meet them after a while of futile searching, "I could not find her," she said disappointed.

Mark arched his brow, "You could not find her?" He scoffed, "You were literally bragging a few minutes ago. I hope you have seen her," he said mockingly.

"Is it my fault?"

"Then whose fault is it? Mine?" He eyed her angrily.

Mark held his head, "Another search attempt failed," he said softly.

"We can not go back to the king just like that Mark," one of the men who accompanied him said.

"We obviously do not have a choice do we?" He shrugged, "Nyx slipped out of our sight, what do you expect me to do?"

Lisa grunted.

"Let us go back to the palace, there is nothing else we can do," he said.

Lisa was disappointed, her ’reward’ had slipped out of her hands. She climbed on the horse again. They all went back to the direction they had come from.

When she was sure they had all gone, Nyx came out of her hiding place.

"They are gone," she held her chest and heaved a sigh of relief.

Now she was free, how was she going to find her way out?
