Chapter 28: A new friend

She was still bleeding profusely, she was in pain and her head was still swirling with thoughts. She could neither stand up nor help herself, she could only scream for help, wishing someone would find her.

She kept praying and mumbling to herself that her child should be safe.

"Please dear moon goodness, please keep my dear child safe, even if I am the one who dies, keep my child alive," she prayed.

She kept groaning and wining in pain, she was in great pains.

Dora was whistling, skipping through the woods to no particular direction. She was quite happy that morning until she heard someone cry.

She stopped and listened more carefully, it sounded like someone needed help.

"She must be in trouble," she gasped and ran in the direction she had heard the lady’s voice.

Nyx was now sitting on the pool of her blood, crying.

Dora gasped and rushed towards her, "Oh my goodness, are you alright?"

Nyx looked at her and pointed to her pool of blood, "Help," she said barely above a whisper.

Dora undestood the assignment, "You will be fine," she said with confidence.

She ran back into the bushes, a few minutes later, she came back with some leaves and a bowl of water, goodness knows where she got them from.

"Are you in labor madam?"

Nyx shook her head, "I do not know, it just started a few minutes ago."

Dora was puzzled, "Do you not at least have a clue?"

"Maybe because I stressed myself too much," she replied.

Dora nodded and set to work, helping her stop the bleeding and cleaned her wounds. She ran back to the woods again and came with another bowl, in it was a mixture of some herbs.

She gave it to Nyx and she drank.

"That should stop the pains and the bleeding properly," she smiled softly.

Nyx gasped as she threw her head backwards, the pain slowly reducing it’s grip on her.

"Take it easy, do not be too hard on yourself," she advised her.

Nyx closed her eyes and nodded, her head going blank.

After some minutes, she was totally quiet, the pain, totally gone.

She opened her eyes and looked at her savior who had saved her life.

"Thank you," she said, gratitude in her eyes.

Dora nodded, "Glad I could help, how are you feeling now?"

Nyx nodded, "I think I am better now," she said softly.

Dora smiled, "That is good news, I hope you get better."

Nyx smiled, "Thank you so much, who are you? My savior should be appreciated."

Dora giggled, "My name is Dora," she replied.

"Where do you live? Why are you even here?" Dora shrugged.

Nyx explained everything to her. She felt sorry for her and helped her pick her grapes.

Afterwards, she helped Nyx home. Though it wasn’t easy as Nyx was so slow and took steady steps, Dora was patient and still took her home.

Soon, they arrived at her cottage, she led her to a chair and she sat down.

"You should rest, I could help cook this," Dora headed to the kitchen.

For the rest of the afternoon, Dora helped Nyx with the house chores, she swept, she cooked, she helped to wash her clothes too, she even went to gather fruits and some other herbs for food.

Nyx couldn’t help but be thankful that she had met such a angel.

When the evening had come, Dora prepared to leave Nyx but Nyx didn’t want her to leave, "Wait, you do not have leave."

Dora smiled, "I think I have to," she responded.

Nyx shook her head, "You could stay with me, or do you have a family"’

She kept quiet for a while and then shook her head, "No," she hung her head.

"There is no need going back out there, I am here, so definitely you can stay with me," she said softly.

Dora looked at her and sighed, "I do not think staying with you will be a good idea, I am a very stubborn person, and I do not want you to land in trouble because of me."

Nyx shook her head, "Nothing will happen, you will be fine, please stay with me, I would really appreciate your presence.. it would be good living with someone after so long," she said sadly.

Dora squinted her eyes, "You stay here by yourself? No neighbors?" She drew her head backwards, she didn’t notice that part that Nyx had no neighbors.

"I do not have any neighbors, just me."

Dora raised her brow, "Whoa, I know how you feel."

She held her stomach and rubbed it gently, "Besides, it would be a good thing if my little pup grew up with someone," she smiled.

Dora couldn’t help the smile that played around her lips, "Alright, I will stay back, after all, I do not even have anyone to go back to," she rubbed her neck slightly.

"Thank you, thank you so much," Nyx smiled, tears in her eyes.

Dora chuckled, "You do not have to be so emotional, I have to stay with you anyways, you are pregnant," she shrugged.

Nyx was relieved, she had a companion now, someone she could share her worries with.

Oberon sat in his study room, he was still strategizing some things out. Mark came in.

"Your highness," he greeted.

He looked up, "Oh, Mark, what news do you bring?"

Mark brought a scroll and dropped it in front of Oberon.

He took a careful look at it, his countenance changed, "What is this?"

"I fear, we can not proceed with our journey anymore," Mark shook his head.

Oberon frowned, "What does Alpha Xander want? Let him explain it to me in clear terms," he said firmly.

Mark sighed, "He demands that you come to him instead, he does not want any other person to hear of it."

Oberon was weakened, he sighed, he had planned on looking for Nyx and bringing her back but his plans were already ruined.

He looked at Mark, "Prepare to look for Nyx, I will meet Alpha Xander then."

Mark nodded and headed to the door.

"One more thing Mark," he said.

He turned around, "Yes your highness?"

"Treat her nicely, and make her come back, I want her back at all costs."

Mark bowed, "Yes your highness."
