Chapter 229: Make everything right

Dora sat beside Klaus’ bed, her eyes anticipating each move he made. She kept praying he would wake up soon, her eyes didn’t blink as she wanted to see her son wake up first.

She kept humming, and rocking her chair back and forth, anticipating his recovery. The whole afternoon had been a nightmare as his body shook with chills, and fever.

"Hmm," she heard him mutter.

She whipped her head up to look at him, her heart racing. She saw his fingers move, and she rushed to his side expecting him to wake up any moment.

His eyes flickered, "Mother?" His strained voice called out.

Tears sprang to her eyes, "He is awake," she whispered.

He tried opening his eyes, but the blinding light made him shut his eyes. Dora had the room illuminated expecting him to wake up at night.

"Klaus?"

"Hmm," he managed to open his eyes again, slowly turning his head to the side.

"Mother?" He croaked finally opening his eyes.

She immediately engulfed him in an embrace, "Oh my son! You are awake!" She cried.

"Mother, I can not breathe," he whined.

She pulled away, "Oh, I am sorry," she sniffed.

"What happened?" He tried sitting up, Dora also helped him.

"That is not important right now, what matters right now is that you are okay," she wiped her nose, her eyes still blurry.

"What happened? Why are you crying?"

She wiped her eyes, "Nothing, nothing," she shook her head, "I just feel thrilled that you are alive," she palmed her face to stop herself from sobbing aloud.

"Was I dying?" He coughed, "Water."

She rushed to the table to get a glass of water, then back to the bed to offer it to him.

"Here," she handed him the glass of water.

He took it from her, gulping it down, "Ahh," he gave a sigh of relief.

"Let me go get you something to eat, I will be back," she got down from the bed, then left the room.

She was so excited, she could barely contain her emotions, table so she skipped all the way to the kitchen. Arriving there, she saw a few maids cleaning the kitchen.

"Hey you," she called one of them.

"Yes, my lady," she bowed.

"Please prepare the prince’s favorite meal. He just gained consciousness," she beamed.

"That is great my Lady, I will do that right now," she bowed, and left.

Dora wanted to return to her room, but then she remembered she had to thank Nyx.

"She must be in the servant’s quarters," she sniffed, heading there at once.

Fortunately for her, she found all three of them sitting outside, chatting.

Yvonne was the first to notice her, "My lady," she rose to her feet.

Then the other two acknowledged her presence, "My lady," they also rose to her feet.

She nodded her head, "He is awake! He regained consciousness!" Her eyes watered.

Gladys, and Yvonne beamed, "Wow! That is good news!"

Nyx was pleased, "See? I told you it would work," a big smile was plastered on her face.

Dora gave her a big hug, "I can not thank you enough! Thank you so much!" She sobbed.

"You are welcome my lady, your son is well, that is all that matters."

"I should tell Oberon about this," she disengaged from the hug, "He has to know," she wiped her face with the back of her hand.

"Of course, anything you wish to do."

"Come with me," she took her hand, "Let us go."

"Really?" Her eyes widened.

Dora took a hold of her hand, "We have to go tell him. You are a lifesaver, such good people are rarely seen."

Nyx looked back at Yvonne, and Gladys, who nodded their approval.

"Come on," she tugged her hand.

"Okay," she agreed.

Together, they went back to the main palace building, "What did you say your name was?"

"Isla, my lady."

"I would not mind making you my son’s personal nurse. You are just too good!" Dora breathed a sigh of relief.

Nyx’s eyes brightened. Her plans were coming together.

"Of course, anything you want, my Lady."

They reached the main palace building, Dora was till tugging Nyx after her.

"He should be in his study," they walked briskly through the hallways till they got to his study.

Dora knocked gently on the door.

"Come in," they heard his muffled voice from within.

She immediately pushed the door open, "Oberon, I have some good news!"

He raised his head, "What news?"

"Klaus has regained consciousness!" She beamed, "All because of Isla’s potion. It worked!" She threw her hands in the air.

His tired eyes slowly widened, "Really?" His eyes moved from Dora’s to Nyx’s.

Nyx’s titled her head to the ground, avoiding his intense gaze.

"Well, that is good news," she heard him chuckle.

Her whole body shook. She cursed herself for reacting that way to even a chuckle.

"I am so happy," she walked over to his chair, while he stood up, and gave her a hug.

"All thanks to Isla," he patted her back.

"I do not think she should be just a maid. She should be elevated, her kind should not be taken for granted."

He nodded, disengaging from the hug, "You are right," his gaze fell on Nyx’s little frame.

"She should be Klaus’ nurse, she would be around him often. She could also be your nurse too."

Nyx’s heart skipped several beats. His nurse too?

"What about you?" He asked her.

"I already have one," she replied.

"Oh, okay," he cleared his throat, "Agreed. She is good."

"She is," she turned to look at Nyx, "Thank you so much Isla, you are such a gem."

Nyx bowed, "You are welcome, my lady."

"I guess I should go back to Klaus now," Dora hurried back to the door leaving both of them standing there.

"Thank you, Isla," she heard his voice right before her.

She whipped her head to see him towering over her. She almost melted feeling him so close to her.

"You are welcome, your highness," she bowed, turning on her heels.

"Wait.."

"Yes?"

"I am sorry, but.. I was wondering if.. maybe I could get.. a massage?" He laughed nervously, "I have a headache."

Her cheeks flushed, "Oh."

"Can I?"

She turned around to face him again, "Well, sit down then," she closed the door behind her.

He flashed a smile, the corner of his eyes crinkling.

She could start from here, she had every chance to make everything right.
