Chapter 223: The prince has been poisoned 2
"The prince has been poisoned!" Gladys gasped.
"What? Who would do such a thing?" Yvonne asked, her eyes widened with a mixture of fear, and shock.
Nyx paused, her heart hammering in her chest. Prince? Poisoned?
"I do not know, the prince drank his cup of tea as usual, and boom he began to convulse, of course he was poisoned with wolfsbane," Gladys explained further.
"So you are saying there is someone who hates the prince, and wants to kill him?" Yvonne squinted her eyes.
Nyx swallowed. Hate. He was poisoned because of hate. Her thoughts began to come together. Her son hated Oberon, and wanted to kill him.
It hit her, her son had tried poisoning Oberon!
’Dear moon goddess! What has he done?’ She panicked.
She bit her lips, distress clearly written on her face.
"Is something wrong Isla? You seem worried," Gladys asked with concern.
She laughed nervously, "Of course not, I was just deep in thought."
"It is alarming," Yvonne nodded mistaking her nervousness for being worried about the prince.
"We would have to go to lady Dora’s room at once, she would need is now," Yvonne got to her feet.
. Before Nyx could say anything else, Gladys had dragged her by the hands, leading her to Dora’s room.
’What has he done this time? This is a very horrible mistake he has committed.’
Maids were trooping the hallway walking up, and down, all of them trying to suggest, ad bring different remedies for the prince at the same time.
Nyx began to grow worried. This might land Archi in trouble, knowing the kind of person Oberon was, she could not help but shudder all the more.
"Come on, what happened?" Gladys had asked a maid who then narrated everything in detail to her.
"That is terrible!" Yvonne gasped, her eyes almost popping out of their sockets.
Nyx was shaking like a leaf, ’Please keep my son safe. Please let him be safe, he has done something horrible,’ Nyx prayed.
She tried looking for him, but there were so many people in the hallway. She panicked more, and more.
"Come on, let us go to lady Dora now," She heard Yvonne’s voice.
"Okay," she whispered.
Soon, they were at Dora’s room. Dora was not herself. She was wailing loudly, holding Klaus in her arms begging him to be alright.
That stung her heart. She knew what Dora was going through, she had been there before, with Dora by her side. She held her forehead, wishing she could just find her son, and whip some sense into him.
Dora kept sobbing, "Please my son, do not leave me," she cried in between her sobs.
Klaus’ body was now so pale, his skin so cold, one would think be was dead ar first sight.
Gladys at once went to her bedside, "My lady, he is not dead yet, let us wait for the doctor to arrive."
Dora was still sobbing, croaking loudly, "Who would want to poison my son? What has he done to anyone?" Her lips trembled, "I can not lose him, I do not want to lose him Gladys," she snuggled her son’s body to her bosom.
"No, my Lady, you will not lose him, he will be fine. The doctor should be here any moment from now," she tried to comfort her.
The doors burst open, revealing Oberon as well as the doctor behind him.
"There he is, go attend to him immediately," he said, his eyes darkening.
Dora gently made him lie on the bed, she ran over to Oberon hugging him.
"Oberon," she croaked, her knees were knocking together.
He didn’t return the hug, "He will be fine, I know we were a little delayed, the news reached my ears quite late."
"Who would do this to my son?" She snorted, "What has he done to anyone at all?"
Oberon clenched his jaw until his veins ticked, "I still do not know that I will find out."
Nyx watched them with a kind of blank expression in her eyes. She knew who did it, but then again...
Oberon gently disengaged himself from Dora’s embrace, "I have got some findings to do," Excuse me.
She nodded, wiping her face, "Please find who did this to him."
He didn’t respond to that. His head was now flooding with thoughts.
There is an enemy in the palace.
"Now who could that be?" He gritted his teeth. Why would someone want to kill his heir to the throne? Who was envying the throne now?
His heart raced when he remembered Nyx’s words that day, "Is this what she saw?" He wondered.
His new Sentinel assistant, Lucas, plopped up beside him, "Your majesty, do you want me to call all the maids together?"
"Plus the guards as well," be added.
"Yes your majesty," he bowed, then hurried ahead of him.
"I do not think anyone snuck in, so definitely it is among us. One of them had done this," he glances at his claws which had extended.
"Too bad I have repented," he sighed deeply, his claws retracting as well.
He picked up his pace, today they were all going to be in his throne room.
...
"Good day your majesty," all the maids, and the guards greeted in unison, giving him a shoulder bow.
He didn’t acknowledge their greetings. Traitors.
"Now which one of you poisoned the prince?"
Archi grunted lowly. He was the one who was supposed to be sick, not the prince.
Damn it.
"Where is the cook who had prepared tea for him this morning?" He squinted his dark eyes.
No one stepped forward, "Speak up now, or I will kill all of you right here!"
One of them stepped out, her knees knocking together, her skin was pale with fear, her lips were trembling greatly.
"Yo.. your majesty," she bowed with a shaky voice.
"Come closer," he said cooly.
She dragged herself to where he stood, her head hung low, her knees still knocking together.
He gripped her face, "What did you do?"
Tears sprang to her eyes, "I swear, your majesty, it was not me. I did not do anything, I promise," she sobbed quietly.
"Who could have poisoned the tea? Why were you not looking?"
"Your majesty, I stepped out to grab some more milk since it was running out, I.. did not.."
Oberon stared into her large dark brown eyes. They looked genuinely horrified, so it meant she didn’t do it.
He slowly released his grip on her face. The next thing, he drew out his dagger, but the cook screamed closing her eyes, trying to protect her face.
Oberon did that to see if he would draw the truth from her, people tend to say the truth when they are at the point of death.
"Who then did it?" He placed his chin on his hand.
"Your highness, I had seen a guard who had walked up to where I prepared tea earlier," she swallowed hard.
She turned around to see if she could spot them from the crowd. Her eyes immediately fell on Archi.
"That is him! It was him!"
