Chapter 133: Aegis at stake

"Hey, and where do you think you are going?"

Nyx stopped in her tracks when she heard his voice. She turned around to look at the person who said it.

There was a smirk on Aegis’s face, "Who do we have here?"

Oberon groaned, "he tricked me."

"Good job! You actually brought them here."

Dora gasped, "Neriah, you.. brought us here to kill us?"

Neriah looked away, "I am sorry Dora, I..." he couldn’t complete his statement.

Oberon tightened his fists, "Aegis.." his eyes darkened

"Oh Neriah is it?" He walked towards him, and gently tapped his shoulder, "you were true to your words. Ha! I do have a great reward for you."

Nyx’s heart raced, she thought of running away, but Dora and Oberon would be in trouble.

Aegis looked around, "Wait.. Elena is not here?" His eyes flared.

"Oberon did not allow her come with him, there was nothing I could do," he said quietly.

Aegis growled, "You stupid brat, why is she not with you!" He yelled at Oberon.

Oberon scoffed, "what do you want to do with her? There is no way you can have her," he smirked.

"You say one more word, your child will join your father!"

Nyx gasped, and held Archi tighter, "I will not let that happen!"

Archi glanced at him, rage building up in his chest. Why was his uncle so mean?

"Why can we not finish him off?" Archi asked Nyx.

Nyx shook her head, "I do not know. Oberon should be able to fight him, not kill him."

Aegis drew out his sword, "Now that I have you, I should probably finish you off."

"Nyx, take Archi out of here!"

Nyx took to her heels.

"Do not let her escape!" Aegis yelled at his guards.

Some guards ran to take her captive. Dora ran, and stood in front of them.

"You will not touch her!" She struck one of them.

The rest ignored her, and ran after Nyx.

Nyx tried her best to run very fast, even while holding Archi.

"Mother, why are we running away? This people do not deserve to live," he groaned.

"Archi, please do not talk this way. This is not for you to decide!" She panted as she tried her best in running out.

"Mother put me down please," he requested.

"What? Why?"

"I want to teach them a lesson," he frowned, obviously angry.

"Teach them a lesson? Oh no, I do not think that should happen. Let us just get out of here," she told him.

The guards were catching up to him. One of them, ran up very close to them.

"I have got you!" He grinned.

Archi slashed at his face, and he fell back to the ground.

Aegis hissed when he saw what Archi did. He drew out his sword, and slashed it at Oberon.

Oberon was quick to dodge it.

"Curse you Aegis!"

Aegis was furious, and he charged at Oberon, "I will make sure I kill everyone of you!"

Oberon clenched his fists, "I do not want to fight you, I do not know the reason why you hate me so much."

Aegis rolled his eyes, "I am not in for your preaching, keep it to yourself!" He flashed the sword at him.

Oberon was quick to dodge it, "Why are you stooping so low? You are supposed to be my uncle!"

"I do not care, as long as you are alive, you are a threat to my throne!"

"We both know who owns that throne!"

Aegis charged at him again, his heard twitching in rage.

"I do! No one else!"

Nyx was now in a tight spot. She had been surrounded by the guards on all sides.

"You have been surrounded, it is better you give up."

She shook her head, "I will not!"

"Stop being stubborn, your child will be the one who gets it at the end!" One of them yelled at her.

She held him even tighter, panting heavily. She looked around, her eyes trying to find a space with which she would escape.

"There is no escaping. I am being kind letting you surrender yourself. It is best if you surrendered yourself, I would not want to hurt you," he said again.

She looked at Archi, "Archi."

He looked at her, "yes mother?"

"You know why I called you Archi?"

"Stop telling stories!"

She ignored them, and continued with what she was saying.

"You have saved me once, while you were still in my womb, so you became my light, the reason why I lived."

One of the guards charged at them, but stopped in his tracks, something seemed to be holding him back.

"If there is any way we can get out of this alive, then it will be because of you."

"Really?"

"Yes my child. I do not know how, but I do believe in you," she gently put him on the ground.

"Go get them Thane! Whar are you still doing there?"

Thane struggled with himself, "I can not move," he said.

Ryker, the guard who had spoken to Thane earlier, angrily charged at Nyx, and Archi but halfway close to them, he stopped in his tracks.

"What is happening?" He asked in disbelief.

Archi squeezed his mother’s hand, "I have them already on the palm of my hand," he grinned, and faced the guards.

"He is just a pup, and he has such power?"

"Maybe because I am not as weak as you think!" Archi yelled, giving them the ’stoning gaze.’

They could only move their pupils, nothing else could move.

Nyx blinked, ’Did he really do that?’

"See? I wish I could just kill them," he rolled his eyes, and held his mother’s hand.

"Let us go and help father. We should not run away," he told her.

Her heart skipped a beat, she was still dazed that her son was the one who actually did that to these Lycans.

"You.. how.. but.. they are.."

"I will explain later," he held her hand, tugging her along.

Oberon had did his best in surpressing Aegis, he lay on the ground, groaning in pain.

"Where are those useless guards of mine?! Can they not see I am I need help?!" He yelled angrily, but stopped when he noticed what was going on.

"How.. did that happen?" His eyes widened.

Oberon struck him again, with another blow.

He groaned, and returned the blow, leaving Oberon dazed for a while.

Aegis managed to stand up, "What happened to them?" He muttered.

Archi helped Dora in freezing the guard who fought with her.

Aegis was shocked, and saw it was now against him.

"Neriah!" He called out, but he got no answer. Neriah was nowhere to be found.

Aegis’s eyes widened in shock as he took in the scene before him. His guards, once loyal and formidable, now stood frozen in place, unable to move. Nyx and Archi approached him, hand in hand, with Oberon and Dora close behind.

"You...you can not be," Aegis stuttered, his sword trembling in his hand.

Archi smiled, his eyes gleaming with a fierce inner light. "I am not as weak as you think. I have been practicing," he grinned.

Aegis’s heart pounded as he realized the tables had turned. The aura around Archi was no longer that of a mere child; it was powerful, commanding, and utterly terrifying. He stepped back, but there was nowhere to go. The guards, once his dependable shield, were paralyzed, trapped by the boy’s mysterious force.

"You underestimated us, Aegis," Oberon said, his voice laced with cold fury as he stood beside Archi. "You always did."

Aegis’s eyes flickered to Nyx, who stood silently, her gaze locked on him. He could feel her power too, dormant but present, a protective shield around her son. "This isn’t possible," he muttered. "You should be nothing without your mother. You’re just a—"

"Enough!" Archi interrupted, his voice echoing with a strength that belied his age. "I’ve had enough of your threats, your cruelty. You’re not fit to rule, and you never were."

Aegis’s face contorted with rage. "You’re a child! You know nothing of power or ruling! You’ve been coddled by your parents, protected from the real world!"

"Perhaps," Archi admitted, "but I know this: power isn’t about control or fear. It’s about protecting those you love." He glanced at Nyx, then back at Aegis. "And you’ve never understood that."

Oberon stepped forward, his fist clenched. "This is over, Aegis. Surrender, and we might show mercy."

Aegis snarled, gripping his sword tightly. "I’ll never bow to you!" With a desperate cry, he lunged at Oberon, sword raised.

But before he could strike, Archi’s hand shot out. A wave of energy rippled from his palm, sending Aegis crashing into the ground, his sword flying from his grasp.

Aegis lay there, dazed, as Archi stood over him. "This is your last chance," Archi said quietly. "Leave, and never come back."

The next moment, a sword ran through Archi, driving him to the ground.

"You can not just defeat me easily!"
