Chapter 128: Kael’s defeat
"I hope he is not declaring war, because if he is, it will not be a good thing for him."
The servant shook, "your majesty.. I think.. he wanted you to step down from the throne. He was not actually declaring war.
Aegis squinted his eyes, he stood up from the throne and walked up to the servant standing before him. He grew his claws at command and slit his throat.
"You want me to step down from the throne? Impostor!"
The servant fell at his feet, struggling for breath.
Aegis was furious, "Ah! That damn Lycan! He thinks he can challenge me!"
He summoned his most trusted advisors.
"I think he is calling for battle. You are way older than him, he has no right to challenge you like that," Maverick, one of his advisors said.
"I think so too your majesty. Kael is baby as far as you are concerned."
Aegis’s eyes growled, "and he had the nerve to tell me to step down?! This throne was always supposed to be mine! Not my stupid brother or his useless son!"
"We know that your majesty.. now you have the throne all to yourself, no one will take it away from you."
"I will not let them!" He grinned, the grin not reaching his eyes.
"Well, if you want to declare war, then do so. Kael will be subdued once he sees your immense power and strength," Silverfang, another of his advisor told him.
"You could take all of their pack in captivity, ans probably see some of the lycanthropy pack members there too," Maverick chipped in.
His eyes lit up with excitement, "Oh, yes," greed evident in his eyes, "All of them. Every single one of them."
He banged the armrests of the throne, "Who knows if Oberon is hiding there?"
"That is a possibility," Silverfang shrugged.
"Gather our strongest warriors. I mean, the strongest of the strongest. We will have to show Kael the consequences of trying to challenge me."
They nodded, "we shall do as you say your majesty."
They all stood up and bowed, leaving the throne room in a file.
"I will get you Kael, after that I will get Oberon, and show them who the real ruler is," he swore.

"I have found him!" Kael’s eyes lit up.
He had tried his divination, and it proved to be efficient.
He quickly sent word across his warriors, to assemble, and go get Oberon from where he was.
"He is deep in the forest, that is no condition for a king to live in. Prepare yourselves, we are going to bring him here."
His warriors began the preparations, while Kael prepared himself.
"We are one step to claiming your throne back, do not worry, you will be in control again," Kael said to himself.
He was standing in front of his mirror, "Let us settle this once and for all Aegis!"
He sighed, "If I do not end it now, then I can not end it at any other time."
There had been a long term rivalry between Kael and Aegis for superiority. Aegis was always claiming he was older, and had sent threats to Kael over and over again, stating how he would one day invade his pack.
Kael had to form a resistance against Aegis who was always breathing threats against him. Sometimes, Oberon would help him, if there was any need for help.
"I promise to finish him off, and help Oberon regain his lost right back."
He had seen this as an opportunity to get Aegis for all he had been doing to him. He would avenge his past humiliations too, but first, he had to bring Oberon to his palace.
He scanned his reflection one more time, and sighed. He strapped on his armor. He knew what could possibly happen on the way; possibility of Aegis attacking him, so he had to be prepared.
He took his sword, and slid it in his shield.
He tied a a small pouch of potions to his belt, and a vial of wolf’s bane to protect him from dark magic.
"I will be ready if he strikes," he muttered to himself.
He muttered a quick prayer to the moon goddess for everything to go well.
Looking at his reflection, he nodded and smiled.
"Perfect," he nodded, and walked out of his room.
He set out with his warriors as they embarked on a search for Oberon.
They all assembled in front of the palace, "Oberon has been a good person to our pack. This is the moment he needs us most, and we have to help him. Let us do our best, and bring him back."
"Yes your majesty," they answered in unison.
They jumped on their horses, set out for their journey.
As Kael led his warriors out of the palace grounds, they navigated through the winding patrol routes, the sunlight casting dappled shadows on the ground. The air was alive with the songs of birds and the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze.
As they rode, the trees grew taller and the underbrush thicker, forcing them to slow their pace. The scent of wildflowers and fresh earth filled the air, a stark contrast to the tension and anticipation building in Kael’s chest.
The forest loomed before them, a sea of green that seemed to stretch on forever.
"Stay alert," Kael warned, his voice low and steady. "We don’t know what dangers lie within."
With a deep breath, he urged his horse forward, leading his warriors into the heart of the forest. The trees closed in around them, casting deep shadows that made it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead.
As they rode deeper into the forest, the sunlight filtering through the canopy above cast eerie patterns on the ground. Kael’s senses were on high alert, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of movement.
"We are almost there," he smile to himself.
As he ventured deeply into the forest, he picked up a familiar scent- Aegis. His senses were more alert.
"Aegis must be somewhere around here," he squinted his eyes.
He continued his journey nonetheless. He rounded a bend, and Aegis came into view.
Aegis smirked, "I thought as much. This is one of your favorite routes right?"
Kael gritted his teeth, "I do not have time for all this, get out of the way Aegis."
Aegis alighted from his horse, walking towards Kael.
"Kael my friend," he said mockingly.
"I am not your friend Aegis. Now get out of the way please," he groaned.
"What if I do not get out of the way? Would you kill me?" He grinned.
Kael clutched his sword, "stop this foolishness Aegis, I have something more important to do."
Aegis frowned, "Get down from there, we need to talk."
Kael was irritated. His hatred grew for Aegis all the more. He got down from his horse.
"You are quite the temptation, but I am ready for this."
Aegis smirked, they were looking at each other in the eye.
"What a daring child you are!"
"I am not a child, you know that."
Aegis shook his head, "I never wanted to kill you, but the disrespect I received today, says otherwise."
"I do not care! You are supposed to step down for Oberon, he is the rightful owner of the throne.
"I am the rightful owner of that throne!" He drew out his sword in rage.
"I know it all Aegis, your father rejected you. He chose your brother. Since you could not defeat your brother entirely, and take his throne, you are coming for his son instead."
Aegis was furious and drew his sword at him, "Stop saying nonsense! I am the rightful heir of that throne you rogue!"
Kael was quick to dodge it, "we both know you are not," he smirked.
"You are a fool for challenging me Kael!" He snarled, as he sliced his sword through the air again, his eyes blazing fury.
"I am not afraid of you! I will fight for what is right, and the right thing is, Oberon is the owner of that throne, and the ruler of the lycanthropy pack!"
"Oh be quiet!" Aegis threw his sword forward, and it hit Kael’s hand.
Kael groaned, trying to recover from that blow. Aegis seeing that he had an advantage, hit Kael with his sword again.
Kael was alarmed, he tried to detect his movements, but Aegis was quicker.
Aegis hit him again, and again.
His warriors seeing Kael was in trouble, rushed to help him but were countered by Aegis’s warriors.
They raged, as one tried to surpress the other.
In the end, Kael was eventually surpressed by Aegis.
Kael, fell on the ground, wounded, he groaned, as he lay down on the ground, taking in his defeat.
Kael’s warriors were alarmed, the battle was clearly against them.
"I have got your king now, you all surrender!"
In confusion, and fear, the kael’s warriors surrendered, knowing fully well they had been defeated.
Aegis gave a cry of triumph, "At last! Your pack now belongs to me! Ha! Victory at long last!"
