Chapter 117: Facts about to be unraveled

The distressed werewolves cane running back to the city, the Lycans still pursuing blindly behind them.

One of them had to outrun everybody so he could go inform the other members of the pack of the impending doom.

As he approached the walls of the kingdom, he kept crying, "prepare to lock the gates! Prepare to lock the gates!"

Everyone was already warned and was thrown in panic.

The other wolves came trotting in as fast as they could till the very last one of them then the gates were immediately locked.

"Go to your houses, stay safe!"

There was some panic and uncertainty as everyone had to lock themselves in for the fear of the unknown.

The werewolves ran to the palace without hesitation.

The news soon reached Elena’s ears and she broke down.

"What do you mean he is dead?"

"Aegis killed him my lady," his second in command bent his head.

Oberon was listening to them speak in a corner.

Elena dropped to the ground, "No! It can not be!"

The whole palace was in shock at the news, Alcide had promised to return.

"Aegis had killed him my lady," he explained.

Elena wailed loudly, not only had she lost her daughter, she had also lost her mate and husband.

"We are so sorry my lady," he bent his head and apologized.

Elena stayed on the floor, weeping profusely, refusing to be consoled.

Oberon who had been watching for a while came out and knelt beside his mother, "Mother? What is the matter?"

She didn’t reply, she was too grieved to do so.

"What is going on? What happened to my father? Where is he? Why is he not with you?" He asked them.

Alcide’s second in command, bent down and put his hand on his shoulder.

"I am so sorry, but, your father is no longer alive," he shook his head sadly.

His eyes welled up with tears, "what do you mean?"

"You can see he is not with us, he is dead."

Oberon was in shock, he turned to look at his mother who was still wailing loudly.

"Mother?" He knelt beside her again and held her shoulders, "we have to brace ourselves, we can not continue this way forever," he sniffed refusing to cry.

His mother shook her head, "he had promised me he would come back, but he did not," she shook her head, crying bitterly.

"Where is his body?" Oberon asked them.

The warriors were in such a rush to get the gates of the pack locked, they forgot his body there.

"Fenrir? Where is his body?" Elena looked up at his second in command.

Fenrir held his head in shame, how could they leave his body there? They had to return there quickly that is if they did not want vampires crawling around it.

Fenrir and some of the bravest of the warriors had to return to get his body.

Elena was in so much pain and distress that she lost consciousness again.

Dora, Neriah, and Archi were all giving him a strange look.

"Does that explain the reason you are always cold?" Dora asked.

"That would be correct," he sighed.

Archi felt sorry for him, "Grandfather died when you were quite young, that is not nice at all," he shook his head, squeezing Oberon’s hand softly.

"Hm, I know. It was quite a hard blow on my mother."

"I have a lot of questions," Archi frowned.

"Okay?"

"Me too," Dora chipped in.

"Okay?"

"Aegis is your uncle?!"

He sighed and nodded, "unfortunately, yes, I was so surprised to see him as a rogue now," he bent his head.

"What happened to the body of your father?" Neriah chipped in.

"It was later brought in for burial," he scratched his head.

"When were you made king?"

"The next day."

They all gasped loudly, "huh?"

He shrugged, "you can not blame me, I was my father’s heir then, of course I had to take the throne."

"From such a young age! Now I understand you a little better," Dora said softly.

Oberon looked at her and smiled softly, "how come you bear the same name with my late sister? Who named you Dora?"

She shrugged, "I do not know, I had always heard the name Dora when I was growing up, so I just took it as my name."

"Who are your parents?"

"I do not know them, I was raised by an old woman who passed away when I was ten. She kept calling me Dora, so I just took it that way."

"How do you know if she is not your mother?" Archi asked.

"She said, she was not, so I took it that way."

Oberon squinted his eyes, "hmm."

"How is Aegis related to your mother? He had said they should capture all of us except your mother."

Oberon clenched his fists, "I do not think I can stay here, I have to go back,"he stood up, "goodness knows what Aegis would do to my mother!"

Neriah stood up, "no, I have got this, remember they are Lycans, I am also a Lycan, so there is a possibility I might survive more than you might."

Oberon nodded and sat down, "please, bring her here safely."

"You do not have to worry about anything," he smiled and headed to the door.

"Expect us at nightfall."

"The moon goddess be with you."

He opened the door, "and with you too."

He left and closed the door behind him.

Archi yawned, "I would love to have a nap," he slid out of the chair and skipped to the rooms leaving just Oberon and Dora alone.

She shifted uncomfortably in her seat as she had never been alone with him.

There was an uncomfortable silence hanging over the air.

Oberon eventually broke it, "so.. you said you do not know your parents, but you do remember some things about your guardian right?"

She nodded, "yes."

"Where did she find you?"

"Someone brought me to get, she does not know who he was, he just knocked on her door one day, gave me to her and left quickly."

"Did she tell you a date?"

"I think it was a full moon that day.. yes.. it was on a full moon. The twenty eighth day of of the third month."

"That was the day my sister was born," he said quietly, his eyes widened.

"Wait.. what?"
