Chapter 116: Alcide is dead

Alcide looked at the bed, his eyes widened in shock as he rushed to the bed, the baby was gone.

"Call the guards!"

Elena dropped on the floor as she began to cry hard.

"Where is she?"

Alcide held her, "we will find her as soon as possible," he assured her.

He rushed out of the room, "where are the guards?" He yelled.

The guards present assembled before him, "your majesty."

"Where is my pup? You were supposed to get watching every nook and cranny of this palace."

The guards were surprised, "your majesty, what are you saying?"

"My pup is no where to be found! Go find her!"

The guards in panic, began to spread out in different directions to find the baby. Some of them went out of the palace to see if they would catch a suspect.

All Elena could do was cry. Alcide was breaking down from too much pressure that moment.

That day was supposed to be a day of celebration since Elena gave birth on a day when the moon was going full.

While Alcide was in panic, a messenger ran to him. He bowed, shaking.

"What is it?"

He handed the letter to him, "your majesty, bad news," the messenger said, still shaking.

Alcide frowned, "what?" He took the letter from him and read it’s contents.

WAR

It was written in blood.

Alcide squinted his eyes, "what is this?" His heart was racing.

"Leave," he told the messenger.

His mind raced back to Aegis.

"It can not be," his eyes darkened.

He was shaking with rage, "Aegis has kidnapped my daughter," he palmed his face and broke down.

Aegis had hit where it hurt most, tears formed at the corner of his eyes, he wiped them off.

"If he wants war, then war it is."

He assembled all his Alpha warriors, Beta warriors and wolves, his lieutenants and soldiers.

Before dusk, another message had come in saying the war would begin at nightfall.

Alcide was so enraged, he had already sworn to kill Aegis the minute he would set his eyes on him.

Oberon who had been watching the whole drama tried to help but Alcide locked him up in a room to prevent harm from befalling him.

"Alcide, I just want my daughter back, bring her back to me," Elena cried when Alcide was with her, he was preparing for war.

"I promise, I will bring our daughter back and permanently eliminate Aegis so he will never trouble us again."

She sobbed and he took her in his arms,"enough, wait till you hear the good news," he smiled at her and left the room.

Soon, he had annouced for his warriors to assemble and march with him to battle field.

At dusk, all his warriors were complete.

"Tonight, we are to fight with all of our strength and protect our pack from those intruders! We shall not let them have the throne!"

They all chorused in unison, swearing to protect the pack at all costs.

"Let us charge!"

Together, they all marched to the battlefield, Alcide as their leader.

They got to the battlefield, the enemy ’pack’ were already assembled but it seemed Alcide and his warriors were outnumbered.

Alcide had to speak to his warriors again, since some of them were getting worried.

At nightfall, it began.

It was not going well for Alcide as he was losing his warriors to the other pack.

At the peak of it all, he came face to face with Aegis.

"Aegis!" He charged at him in rage, "you.. you dare kidnap my daughter!"

"Why would I do that?" Aegis frowned and swung his sword at him but missed.

"Where is my daughter?" He asked him again.

"I do not know anything about your daughter, leave me out of it!"

"Liar!" In rage, he cut across his face.

Aegis fell back to the ground with a loud groan.

The moon was rising slowly, Aegis smiled, "you all will go down soon," he grinned.

Alcide was too angry to pay attention to anything, he swung his sword at Aegis again but he was quick to dodge.

"Do you really want to kill me Alcide? I am your elder brother!"

"I do not care!" He threw his sword at him determined to kill him that moment.

Aegis missed his aim, "some minutes more and you all will die," he cackled.

"I will kill you first!" He yelled.

"Your majesty! The moon!" One of his warriors cried, they were clearly losing the battle but Alcide was too busy to listen.

Many of his warriors tried to warn him about the full moon but rage had covered his heart.

There was no way his warriors would handle the sword in wolf form, not especially when they had noticed they were fighting against Lycans.

A warrior had to run to him and tell him of their predicament.

"Your majesty, it will be full moon soon, we are fighting against Lycans and we would not be able to handle swords properly."

His attention then went to his warriors, his heart went out to them, he attempted to help them.

In a bid to help them, Alcide turned his back on Aegis. Aegis quickly took his sword, and rushed to Alcide, stabbing him, the sword ran through his heart and came out on the other side.

The warriors was dismayed, he watched as Alcide froze, dropped on his knees and fell to the ground face flat.

"Your majesty," he whispered.

Aegis looked at him, "you better run along, that is if you do not want to join your ’majesty’" he mocked.

The warrior couldn’t take the fact that Alcide had died, that meant Aegis would become king.

In despair, he took his own sword and ran it through himself, killing himself.

Aegis was somehow touched by his loyalty but that did not matter right now.

The moon rose and its rays hit all of them, the Alphas, betas, and the rest of them.

They all turned to their wolf form. Seeing the battle was against them, the second in command told them all to flee.

The cry, "the king is dead," rented the air as the wolves ran back to the kingdom.

Aegis ordered and the Lycans pursued them back to the Kingdom.
