The Alpha's Blind Fate -
Chapter 414: Seraph: The Message
Chapter 414: Seraph: The Message
SERAPH
"Where is Zina?!" The Alpha King billowed, his words causing cold fear to settle within Seraph.
Even as she then stared at the staff his majesty clutched in his tight grip, she was uncertain if she would be able to complete the mission that was tasked to her by the Theta.
But there was no chance for her to fail... in fact, failure was out of the question. Which was why Seraph swallowed, then squared her small shoulders while forcing a small smile.
"Her majesty is well," she said, reciting the same words the Theta had told her to speak. "In fact, she is the one who has sent me."
The Alpha King easily sniffed her lie for all it was worth, and his thunderous expression remained unflinching.
"Where. Is. She?" He gritted, and this time around, Seraph knew the only reason why his fingers weren’t wrapped around her tiny throat was because he was saving her the last shred of respect towards his wife.
"Her majesty is at a cave manor to the southern direction," Seraph scrambled to say, her heart thudding dangerously against her chest, "but, she has asked me to deliver a message to you.. your majesty. A message not in her name as your wife nor in her name as your Queen, but in her identity as the Theta and great seer of the Arctic North."
The Alpha King seemed to still, and Seraph knew instantly that he was using his senses to check her for a lie... or to probably weed her out as traitor working under those degenerate men.
So she stood like a stiff thing under his scrutinizing stare while the Theta’s earlier words came back to her,
"You cannot lie to his majesty, Seraph. Should you speak a lie to him no matter how flawless of a lie he would instantly know. His senses are that wonderful. But there’s a loophole to this dilemma; if you simply report what I’ve said, then it can’t be said to be a lie from you. He would have to confront me by himself in order to ascertain if it’s a lie or not since it’s afterall, just a report of what I’ve said."
It was that loophole that Seraph was betting her life on, because truth be told, she didn’t entirely believe everything the Theta asked her to tell his majesty.
The fact that they were betting their all on a vision she had seen was not usually terrifying to Seraph who had grown in a village where the people used superstition to feed their empty stomachs. But something about the gamble the Theta seemed to be taking just didn’t sit well with Seraph.
In fact, it made her uncomfortable to the point she just wanted to bawl before the men while betraying her long sworn loyalty to her. Yet it was that loyalty and trust in the woman who saved her that kept her going.
"What is her message?" The Alpha King asked grimly, and by that point, the rest of their search squad had gathered around her.
Malik Zedd, the Theta’s personal guard, and then Norima Talga whom Seraph easily recognized by her haunting albinotic skin and golden red eyes.
She swallowed, "The Theta asked me to tell you, your majesty, that you must not attack the Cave Manor until it’s noon. A blood moon will happen by then, and she says that time is critical to defeating the deformed ones for good so you must not make a move until then. Camp outside of the Cave Manor and bid your time carefully."
Madness, literal madness slithered through his dark stormy eyes as he stared at her like she was mad. If he thought like that when she had hardly finished delivering the message she meant to, then what would he think when she spoke of the rest of the message?
Her weak wolf whimpered at his sight, and Seraph wasn’t too sure if she the courage to tow on this path anymore. After all, one unspoken question remained—within the hours that until noon, would the Theta remain safe?
Would she still be alive?
Naturally, the Alpha King thought it madness that he had to wait for hours to save her mate. The same was confirmed when he forged ahead, delivering a harsh instruction.
"We move south bound," he declared to his aides, preparing to shift.
What? It was just nine in the morning at the highest, hardly noon!
Seraph rushed to him immediately, hands stretched out to her sides to prevent him from taking another step. Not like her scrawny figure could do much, but with the Theta’s warnings and threats repeating in a loop in her head, she didn’t have much of a choice herself.
"The Theta said she would slit her own throat with her fingers if she notices that you’re attacking the Cave Manor a second earlier!" She screamed, mustering strength from nowhere.
"She said what?" The Alpha King said in a deathly, love voice. Shock replacing the madness that swirled in his eyes.
Seraph wished the ground would just open and swallow her already.
"The Theta said the fate of the Arctic North lies on this moment, and you must not act as her husband but as Alpha King." Seraph said, spelling words that tasted bitter on her tongue.
"You must not attack or invade until noon. She asks that you remember when the deformed once attacked, she foresaw that event, so now, you must trust her. Not doing so will cost her her life."
His fists clenched by the sides as he obviously struggled with the threat.
"She’s threatening me not to save her?" He spat, voice defeated.
Seraph faked a smile. "The Theta has a plan of course," she said cheerily, "she says that Alpha Modrich WolfKnight and his Epsilons will be passing through the Brown Beach exactly at ten o’clock. She asks that you nominate Gamma Zelkov to challenge him. Once the gamma defeats him, then he should take control of the WolfKnight Pack in your name, and divert their warriors to stop the Deformed from passing through their territory to reach the North."
That was the only part of the Theta’s message that had Seraph quite stunned. Had she truly foreseen that Alpha Modrich WolfKnight was going to visit the West? The cave manor nonetheless?
Even the Alpha King seemed stunted by the message. But between his obvious boiling anger at the threat, it was hard to tell what exactly were his thoughts.
"Given how bold she threatens me even when held captive," he gritted, "I suppose she has one more message for me."
How did he know?
Seraph shifted uncomfortably. "Sh...she asks that you hand me her staff." She stuttered, "I am to discreetly deliver it back to her at the Cave Manor. She says if you fail to give it to me, her threat still stands."
He scoffed, "Does she have any message for me as her husband?" He asked, something foreign etched to his tone.
Seraph shook her head wordlessly. The Theta had warned her against speaking of her difficulties including the loss of her child. Seraph she knew it was a difficult decision for her to not deliver a personal message to her husband, but it was one she respected.
The Theta had her own pain... a lot of it.
But what stunned Seraph next was how the Alpha King gave up the staff without a single objection.
So easily Seraph doubted if it was the real thing. Except it looked real enough.
"Tell her I shall rally my army in the NorthWest then. By noon we will attack to protect the North." He said without emotion,
"Malik Zorch will have to escort you back though. I don’t know how you managed to sneak out in the first place, but she will use this opportunity to learn the terrain for our army."
Seraph handed him the map since she had crammed the route on her way coming. Not like the map will be very helpful. And then she was returning back to the hellosh cave manor, the cursed staff within her tight grip.
