Chapter 369: The Tamers (II)

(This Chapter contains blood, gore, animalistic violence that many might think to be triggering. Read with care.)

ZINA

This time around, her body flew backward until her back hit the wall far behind her, and then her busy bounced back into position, held on by silver chains that burned at her wrists.

Zina screamed unable to hold in the pain as she did the first time. Her whole body felt like it was being roasted over a furnance. Not too close to actually roast, but close enough to dry as sun dried meat.

Her body was even more alive. She felt every tremble, every pain, every inch, every thing.

She wheezed, shutting her eyes against the world in hopes that the pain would recede, but it only amplified in the darkness that greeted her.

"No..." she moaned lowly, her voice a whisper to her own hearing. She heard him circle her.

"Are you already begging me, Zina? You should... you should beg me so this pain will be over."

But all she kept muttering was, "No...." As if she was begging the spirits above to come and take her life before those terrible did in the most horrible way.

One of her hand felt like it was loosely hanging onto the chains, and it was only then that she realized that in her impact with the wall, she had dislocated a shoulder. She probably had other broken bones, but they were nothing compared to the pain that ricocheted off her body in waves.

Absolutely nothing.

One of the Tamers, the one Rowan said worked for the Red Sisters stepped forward.

"Master Rowan, she might end up dead at this rate. I would advise you to allow us takeover from here. We’ll surely deliver astounding results," the woman said through the mask covering her mouth.

Rowan eyed her naked body distastefully. "We don’t have time," he said. "It’s not just about finding the staff, it’s about her very defiant mind."

"We will take care of it... it’s our job." The woman drawled in a self assured manner, eying Zina.

"You’ve until tomorrow." Rowan said and made to leave.

"How hats should we go on her?" The other woman asked in a gleeful voice.

Rowan glared at them like the answer wasn’t obvious. "Go your hardest. It doesn’t matter how much is done, what matters are quick and efficient result."

"Very well then. That means you wouldn’t mind if you end up with a mad woman."

Rowan didn’t answer to that as he left, but Zina could very well read the answer in his demeanor. He didn’t mind.

They didn’t need her whole or half...all they needed was someone one willing to submit. Only that way would they be able to utilize whatever cursed shadow they had put in her.

Her foster was right, and Zina was thankful that she hadn’t submitted... that she hadn’t begged for her life.

No matter the outcome, they would have still trampled on her. No matter how much she grovelled and humiliated herself, they would have still marched over her.

"Lower the chains," the first woman commanded, and some invisible people Zina couldn’t see lowered her body until she was almsot the same eye height as her tormentors.

Her legs still dangled in the air still.

"I am Rose, while my sister here is Orchid." She introduced.

Zina simply stared at them, saying nothing.

"Wonder why we were named after flowers?" She asked, her voice holding amusement.

Zina chuckled, "because like every flower, your time of wilting will come."

She saw it coming—Orchid who seemed to be the silent type raised her hand and slapped her till her head whipped forcefully to the other side.

"You talk too much," she growled while Rose dissolved into laughter.

"She’s a tough one. Normally, under Rowan’s tough chains she would be singing. And yet, she stayed defiant through the pain... although she wouldn’t have been breathing by the third lash." Rose finished maliciously, her eyes like brown liquid glittering at her.

"I heard you like prophecy and stuff, so do you remember this one," She continued, holding the wooden stick in her hand while circling her. "’Under the full moon, a hand will stretch out and rip your heart out of your chest. And even when that happens, you will not die until your legs are taken under you.’"

She finished while Orchid rolled her eyes, glaring at Zina.

"Did you know somehow that your father would be the one to fulfill your so called prophecy?" Rose pressed forward maliciously, knowing that she had pressed a sore point.

The thought... just the thought that such a monster’s blood ran through her veins was appalling enough that she didn’t want to live. And that was exactly the weapon they were using against.

They were dehumanising her so she would never think herself human. Causing her self worth to plummet to unthinkable depths. They wanted her to loose hope and succumb. And it almost worked.

Almost.

She was strapped naked before these women, but that didn’t stop Zina from tilting her head up as she would have done in the past when faced with an obstacle.

"What about it? Monster or not, my prophecy came to pass did it not?"

"Or perhaps your father was listening in and decided to give his daughter a big gift." Orchid said, "have you never thought of that possibility, or did you truly think yourself a great seer?"

Their actions was so laughable and pitiable at the same time. The fact that they tried to place the seed of doubt in the one thing she ever possessed for herself—her power of visions, was funny.

"In that case should I tell you how you will die, Orchid Mallorca?"

The woman stilled, wide eyes staring at Zina like she was seeing a spirit.

Rose who pacing around her stopped as well, staring at Zina. "Do not play tricks here, tell me how you came to know about her surname or you will see what this rod of mine can do."

Zina ignored the woman, she would come to her later. But for now, she squared her shoulders as much as she could, staring at Orchid with a meaningfulness that stole the other woman’s breath away.

"I am afraid that your sister here didn’t say my prophecy well. Now listen to me carefully because you will share the same fate;

"Under the crescent moon, a hand shall reach out and rip your heart out from your chest. And even when this hand rips your heart out, you shall not die... not until your limbs and manhood are ripped out in the same manner shall you cease to breathe."

The air in the room stilled in the cacophony of stifling silence, while Zina grinned at the two women through bloodied teeth.

"Ahh... it’s true that you don’t have a manhood," Zina said, pretending to think deeply about her intentional error, "I need to amend that vision. In that case, let’s replace it with this eyes of yours that is the only thing about your face that you’re bold enough to show—

"— you shall not die... not until your limbs and your eyes are ripped out in the same manner shall you cease to breathe." She finshed with an evil grin.

And then their rod descended on her at the same time, and she saw exactly what the three inches, stick-like item could do.

They could bring the most vivid pain. The kind that made her beg for death.
