Chapter 357: Your New Home (II)
ZINA
Even though they were meeting for the first time, Zina already felt like she knew a whole deal about the red haired man that stood before her.
Was it the letters he had written? Or was it the visions of him that she saw that made this sense of familiarity all the more profound. She didn’t know which, but what she did know for a certain was the murderous rage that enveloped her.
She wanted to stab him in the chest with the scissors in her hands. Then she wanted to gouge out his eyes while he still had a breath or two inside her.
She wanted to humiliate him so much until he felt every bit of the rage and disgust she had for him and his people who had dragged her unwitting into this life.
But the Red Wolf wasn’t fazed in the least. As if their meeting was one that they had been preparing for ages, he merely glanced at the scissors in her fingers.
"I see the servants did a poor a job. I apologise for such poor service, you shall not be seeing such a weapon ever again."
Zina lost it. Screaming as she lunged for him. She never made it if course. He merely pried off the scissors from her hand but that didn’t stop Zina from hurling ever curse she could remember at him.
And if all ended with, "...you want to turn me into a monster?! Fine! I promise you that you shall be the first person to die under this seeming power that I possess."
The man smiled. Obviously not that older than Daemon by much but seemingly possessing an air of ancientness.
"Believe me, you will be killing a lot of people with this power of yours, Zina. So do not be in a hurry just yet. We will take it one at a time."
Zina would have screamed from morning till night and the everlasting smirk on the Red Wolf’s face wouldn’t budge a bit. Throwing a tantrum wouldn’t help her, curshing out wouldn’t mitigate the harm that has already been done and the ones that would still be done.
Siting down and swallowing her grievances weren’t going to help either. Her situation was one that smelt of helplessness. Before the eyes of her captors, it felt like they knew her even more than she knew herself.
After all, they were the ones that created her.
Daemon’s words came to her at the same time like a whisper of hope. ’As long as you’ve me, Zina. You would never be abandoned.’
She still had him, right? Her husband and mate.
As if knowing whom she thought about, the Red Wolf smirked. "How does it feel like to have the promise of forever ripped away from you?" He said with a sugary smile.
Zina wanted to roar at both the taunt and the reminder of the blissful life that had been snatched away from her even before she began ti enjoy it, but she she stayed still, glaring at him.
Only if her eyes could hurl arrows, then the Red Wolf would have long died from her murderous glare.
"I am sure you thought you defeated the curse, but it only starts now. Your abandonment starts now."
It was Zina’s turn to scoff at him. "It is I who will decide whether I am abandoned or not. You’ve absolutely no right to curse me. You did it once, but you will never have the chance to do it again."
"Don’t fight it," he said still maintaining that annoying smile of his, "if you fight it too much, you will only hurt harder."
Zina chuckled, "You must have been disappointed to see the woman whom you all set for scorn and a lonely life became all that you wished she would never be. I gained the mate bond not just once but twice. And even now I’m married. So much for being abandoned. So much for your stupid curse!" She roared at the end.
The Red Wolf’s smile disappeared and something dark swirled beneath his eyes. "Indeed. Our curse once failed. But rest assured, it would never fail again. You will remain as you’re now. A woman who almsot reached the perfect life, only to have it snatched away from her."
Tears tickled her eyes, but she would rather die of humiliation than allow them to roll down.
So she tipped her head up the very picture of haughtiness as she said. "Bring it on, although I must warn you. My husband bites, and should he find you which he will, your head will roll."
The Red Wolf smiled a slow, creepy smile. "Daemon NorthSteed doesn’t scare me."
Zina maintained her haughty posture. Even though the Red Wolf was taller than her, it still looked like she was looking down on him.
"You should be scared, Red Wolf. Daemon is after all the Wolf who surpasses all wolf. You on the other hand possess just one supreme wolf. What ever power do you think you possess in comparison to him?"
Her intended mockery didn’t escape him. "Your husband announced to the world that his next beta would have the Arctic Wolf. Was there a need to tell such a lie just to confuse us?"
Of course, Daemon’s deciet had worked. But in reverse, it had made their enemy think he was someone they could easily trample on by daring to attempt to touch his wife.
"And now that you know he has two Supreme wolf’s in him, it would be in your best interest to let me go."
The Red Wolf smiled, "your husband kept that news away because he knows that possessing two superior wolf’s would make it impossible for him to shift for a while as he adjusts to them. So suffice to say, there was a time that he must have been at his weakest. If I knew, I would have attacked him at the time and rid the world of a nuisance."
Zina raised her her hand without a thought to strike him, but he caught it easily. "Well you did not know," she gritted.
"I can imagine how terrifying his wolf must be now," he said although he didn’t look terrified in the least, "it would be a sight that history would vie for."
Zina wondered as well too. She wondered what chaos was left back home. Daemon had just finished adjusting to his wolf recently, during the tournament if she could remember correctly. And that was the only thing that made her glad.
Even if something happened to her under the hand of her psycho captors, Daemon was at least more than capable of taking care of himself.
