The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 349: The Farther, The Better

Chapter 349: The Farther, The Better

ZINA

Zelkov didn’t bother hiding his reluctance to Zina’s suggestion, and Zina figured she was being a bit more impatient than was good.

The man before her had discovered that her mother had been alive since three years ago, and yet he still managed to be controlled and levelheaded when they discussed about her.

But Zina on the other hand was far from being the epitome of that kind of patience. Learning about her mother had only activated a different kind of fear in her... and that was fear for her child.

Zina could only think that if her father was truly a monster, then what did that make her child out to be?

The uncertainty of anything at all, and the thought she simply had to submit to fate and wait for whatever the outcome could be like gnawed at her a lot more than she wanted to admit.

Even though she was yet to feel her baby’s kick, or any sign that her child was growing in her belly, that didn’t defeat the fact that she wanted to protect that part of Daemon in her.

With everything in her, she never wanted to be put in the same position her mother was forced into. Which meant she should calm down and sit still as Daemon advised, right?

But why couldn’t she sit still? Why was she so anxious like her world was falling apart. Why couldn’t she be selfish, shut her eyes and forget the existence of her mother and Seraph? Her life would be far easier and smoother if she did just that and left everything in the able hands of Daemon so why was she being so nosy?!

She exhaled harshly, not knowing where the sudden anger came from. It was like she was doused in ice for a moment and lost her mind temporarily. Zelkov only stared at her strangely.

"Are you okay, your majesty?"

"I am fine. And please, just call me Zina. In one way or the other, we are family afterall." She said, wondering what strange feeling was.

Zelkov’s face almost brightened with her recognition, but then he deadpanned, "I can’t do that. You’re the Alpha King’s wife at the end of the day."

Zina didn’t bother to argue that. She had a lot in her head as it was.

"Your majesty, if I would advise—Sit this one out. I hear you’ve a weak wolf so that would be best for you."

Zina was a bit stung at that. "But my senses are superior," Zina protested. When she was still blind, she relied on her superior sense of hearing, smell and feel to lead a fairly normal life that most people with the same condition could not have ordinarily done.

"That’s normal, after all your mother was the same. She had a weak wolf, but superior senses as well. It doesn’t make your wolf any stronger than it is."

Zina was once again, startled at yet another knowledge of a trait she got from her mother. Knowing that she resembled her mother so greatly made her question if at all she got any trait from the so called monster that sired her.

She remembered that the first time she had gone into heat, Daemon had made mention that she was superior female wolf due to the fact that pheromones she produced doing her heat naturally attracted any male in the vicinity.

Just what kind of bloodline did she and her mother possess that made them like so? With a mere level five shifter wolf but superior senses.

Just then, she remembered what the Grand Healer said to her earlier that morning, "Did my mother have difficulty giving birth?" She asked.

Zelkov looked a bit uncomfortable at the line of question, but he didn’t suspect the reason behind it as he answered. "So I heard. I don’t know the details though," he said with a shrug.

Then he narrowed his eyes. "Why are you asking that though?"

"I’m just wondering why she never had her own child before me." Zina answered smoothly.

That made sense to Zelkov, but he immediately warned, "All your mother wants is for you to be safe, so please do just that. Meanwhile, I and the Alpha will find both your mother and your maidservant."

Zina scowled internally at that. Just two days ago, Daemon was threatening to kill Zelkov, and Zelkov in return didn’t seem to have liked her husband in the least. But now, it was though the two conspired and cozied up to each other when she had been worrying about them in the first place.

"So how did you escape his wrath, Sighter? Last time I checked, you would have rather chewed your teeth than bow to him? I mean, considering you stole his money and attempted to kill me."

In the most serious voice Zina had ever heard her answered, "I and his majesty reached an understanding."

And with that, he stood and bowed in her direction. Zina stared at him in shocked amazement while he announced he would take his leave. Zina waved him off, already feeling her persistent headache pressing against her brain.

She held her head in her hands for a few minutes before she stood and made her way out of the Hall and back to her room. There, the letter she had been waiting for all along by Sybril sat on her dressing table.

She tore at it, and read the content furiously;

’I am sure it must be late but the time this letter reaches you, but I finally got into contact with the East Heralder. He informed me that Seraph made it to the North Heralder and must have been kidnapped on her way back.

As for the North Heralder, he has already moved into the territory of the Night Mages, and report has it that Norima Talga has not made a move yet. Rest assured, we have everything here outside under control. I will inform you at the first instance of any development.

Sybril.

The letter was just as she had expected. Already, she told Daemon that Seraph must have been taken away on her way back from the outskirts of the city because she predicted as much.

Now, all she had to do was wait on Norima Talga and see if the witch woman would be inspired enough to come up with a way to reverse track the staff.

Good news was okay. No news was still okay as well. The most important for now was the the staff remained far away from her, and there was no better place for it to remain than a land filled with witches that wielded magic.

Burning the letter over a candle, a knock came to her door.

"Come in," she said, knowing that it must be an acceptable visitor for Ablanch and Malik Zorch to allow the person knock in the first place.

As she half expected, it was Melwyn standing there ever with her enigmatic smile and ash colored eyes.

"You called for me, my lady," she said with a sweeping bow. Zina tossed the burning letter in an incense plate while she stood and approached the woman.

Without missing a breath she requested. "Is it possibly for you to examine me more in depth than you once did?"
