The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 346: To Rule In My Absence

Chapter 346: To Rule In My Absence

ZINA

Intimacy made people easily forget the demons in their lives simply because they have been disguised as handsome men with seductive eyes, and such had sadly been Zina’s case.

Being so close to Daemon had made her forget that once upon a time under Eldric’s reign, the man she feared the most was Daemon NorthSteed who had been banished to fight the war against the Arising Rogues.

Intimacy and eventual closeness to him made her forget that he was called Unia and the Ripper, and the grown men pissed in their pants whenever they stood before him.

Intimacy had made her forget that once upon a time, he single-handedly beheaded the men that served his brothers at the highest position of powers, and he never suffered from the consequences of touching those people who had been deedmed untouchable by most.

Intimacy had made her to forget a lot. And sitting right there in the middle of Daemon’s special council, the spell of intimacy wore off, and she began to see him anew as the man she always perceived him to be.

One whose authority was not be questioned, his rule not to be thwarted, and his dominance not to be undermined.

As far as Council gathering went, then one Zina found herself in was filled with the best talent. There was Yaren, back from his mission, Kelkov, Marcus, Fionna, Caspian. And then there was the gamma of the DireWolf pack who had journey overnight to the North, Master Karigua DireWolf himself.

An elderly man that even Daemon and Marcus have a bit of reverence to as he was also an Elder in the family.

All by his own, the man had been leading the DireWolf Pack and had expanded the Pack’s territory by his own hand. Now, the DireWolf pack also controlled the Tiger Wolf organization, and the latter answered to them as well.

The remaining four people in the room were not ordinary themselves. There was Alpha Kairos and the Witch Melwyn who wouldn’t syop staring at Zina with an expression that seemed to border on awe.

And there was Malik Zorch and Mandem Zedd the duo that formed the leader of the Spy Houses Z’s that once served Daemon’s mother, the former Luna Queen, and who have now long pledged their allegiance to Daemon.

They were twelve people altogether, and they sat around Daemon’s infamous square map table.

Zina, who sat directly across Kelkov couldn’t resist glancing at the man whenever she thought no one was looking, but Kelkov almsot always caught her in the act.

Just how superior were his senses?

On Zina’s part, she was still searching for a stretch of resemblance between them. But so far, the only thing she had managed to spot was the fact that their eyes seemed to shaped in the same way.

Round, but slanted circles that made their iris pronounced. Except in Zina’s case, she was left with a light blue eyes whereas Zelkov possessed a far pronounced brown eyes that seemed to be of different shades depending on the lightning.

Despite Zina’s concentration on him, she wasn’t ignorant to how the air was so fraught with tension while everyone made an attempt to proffer a strategy that would please Daemon.

A strategy on winning the ultimate war.

"Following our conversation, a swift and surprising attack against the West will be our best shot," Karigua, the gamma of the DireWolf said, his hand tracing the map lines that led to the West from the NorthWestern borders.

"The only problem is who exactly are we waging war on? It can’t possibly be the whole packs in the West, Alpha?" The older man mused, retracing his fingertips that trailed along the map line.

Daemon’s only response was to eye Yaren.

On cue, the other man began to speak in the gruff manner that was so like him. "Our best bet would be to attack the fifteen core packs that are allies to the Seven Witch Elders. Attacking just them would be enough," Yaren finished, moving a mock soldier on the map area where the fifteen packs were huddled together.

But there was a big problem, and all of them could see it.

"They are way inside the territory," Malik Zorch said in an attempt to chip in after being silent all the while, "there’s is no we can get to them without marching through the packs that are closer to the NorthWestern boundary."

Yet despite everything that was said, it was clear that Daemon was hardly satisfied.

"Then we must change strategies then," Daemon all but declared sending the room into stunned silence.

For about two hours, they had been debating strategies while Daemon merely listened. Zina had said nothing though, and one could almost say that Daemon had been busy weighing his newly appointed ranked members.

So naturally, everyone sat up to listen to him.

He casually lifted up two mock soldiers bearing the flag of the Arctic North. "We will declare a war indeed. But we won’t infiltrate immediately, we will station ourselves at these two boundaries and wait."

He placed one of the soldiers on the NorthWestern borders and the other at the South-Western borders.

"The lack of element of surprise won’t work in our favour," the ever silent Kelkov said, "proceeding like that would only rain on our parade. The fifteen packs are well reinforced and alerting them like that would only strengthen their defenses."

"Good point, but the war is not our priority," Daemon said, his fingers trailing a line in the map that led all the way to the Coven of the Seven Witch Elders, "Inflitrating the only connection we have to the Red Wolf is our is main mission."

On pointing at the abode of the Seven Witch Elders, Kelkov’s eyes darkened, and his usually emotionless eyes held all the rage in the world.

What could peeve him about them? Could it be the fact that they declared the execution of the Screamers Pack? Zina never thought Kelkov would hold any love for his fatherland, but maybe that was exactly why he had sought her out in the first place.

Because he couldn’t let go of something.

"You mean personal infiltration?" Yaren repeated incredously.

"Indeed. And it would be I annd Kelkov doing so." He said easily, demonstrating the same on the map with another two mock soldiers.

Without loosing a breath, like he had planned it out long ago, he began to spell everyone’s role.

"Alpha Kairos and Melwyn will pave the way for us ahead of time, Marcus will mobilize the army trained at Alpha Kairos’ land and move immediately for the NorthWestern borders... it will be a form of diversion.

"The two house Z’s will collect intelligence as usual. Gamma Karigua will lead the DireWolf Army to the South Western borders. Meanwhile, Yaren, Caspian and Fionna will stay back at the castle and serve as middle men."

The face of the last three people called out fell, especially Yaren. But as a testament to his growth, he said nothing. But Fionna didn’t sit still like him.

"Believe me your majesty, I would be of great use to you on the frontlines. I have dealt with a handful of western bastards myself in the past."

Looking up to her, Daemon said meaningfully and sternly at the same time. "Your main job is to protect the Luna Queen. Are we clear?"

Perhaps it was the profoundness of the request, or the fact that Daemon was exerting his Alpha authority on her, but she backed down immediately.

"Of course, your majesty."

Meanwhile, everything was happening so fast. So fast that Zina was sure a certain kind of end was just out of reach. Whether it would be a good end or not, she couldn’t say yet.

But she certainly refused to sit like a duck in this whole affair. She had to do something herself.

But Daemon wasn’t done because his eyes rested on her, the last person who hadn’t been assigned any role.

"And the Luna Queen will rule in my absence and make decisions as if she were me. Under her control, I will leave the special Army of the Arctic North that is to serve as reinforcement to the two armies that will be stationed at the marked borders."

Zina’s eyes widened at the totally unexpected declaration, and everyone else shared her shock in different ways.

Some stared at her uncomfortably, while some stared at her in wistful awe.
