Chapter 339: Weak Energy

Chapter 339: Weak Energy

ZINA

Zina woke the next morning of her wedding feeling like there was a heavy load on her belly. The middle of her legs ached, and she was just alarmed enough to reach out Killian, the Grand Healer that served the Castle.

Inspite of her sordid past with the woman, Zina trusted her experience enough and had hoped on her discretion seeing as she was yet to reveal her pregnancy to Daemon.

Narnia, now the one who served her the closest, informed her that Daemon had left early in the morning to attend a meeting aimed at finding Seraph who was still believed to still be within the Northern boundaries.

Search parties had been called, and barricades had been put up at every exit of the North although there was yet to be any form of progress.

Killian checked her pulse for a long time. The older, voluptuous woman made no other expression except for a deep frown that she wore throughout the check up without a thought that that would only worry Zina more.

Was her child okay? She didn’t believe she had done anything to impede the health of her unborn baby, but the sensation she had felt when she had woken up had been enough to alarm her of such a possibility.

"The child is safe." Killian finally announced after what seemed like a long while.

Zina sighed from relief that it was just a false sense of alarm. But Killian’s next words did nothing to assuage her.

"I am worried though..." the old woman trailed, "I sense you’ve a weak energy. Probably hereditary. You must tread carefully throughout your pregnancy."

"Weak energy?" Zina repeated, startled and confused at the same time. She had never heard the term before.

"Someone in your family must have been prone to premature miscarriages. I sense the energy must have been passed down to you. In this situation, it would be best if you reached out to the leaders in your family so they suggest on how you can better handle your health based on any practices that might have proven effective for whoever is the original carrier of this energy."

Someone in her family? Zina knew no one in her family. She didn’t even know of her mother until two months ago when she had that projection.

And now, she was truly worried.

"Are you saying I might loose the child?" Zina voiced worriedly, biting her lips. Between keeping the news away from Daemon and worrying for Seraph, she was already on her last ropes.

She didn’t think she could single handedly deal with carrying such bad news on her shoulders.

Killian nodded grimly, "it’s just a possibility. But that is not to say you cannot avert the energy. It’s something a little extra care might be able to take of just fine."

Now that was where there was trouble because Zina didn’t intend on taking care of her body. Not when the same people that had her mother, kidnapped Seraph and were also threatening her were now showing their face.

Was she being selfish? Was she being such a careless mother? But could she live with locking herself from the world just to take care of her child?

No. She couldn’t live with it. Doing so would mean abandoning Seraph and her mother who had been tethered down by a monster for years.

She would do her best to take care of the unborn child in her womb, but she could never promise to sit still when chaos surrounded her in different forms.

"Thank you Grand Healer." Zina said in appreciation t the woman, "as you’ve promised me, please do not reveal my pregnancy to his majesty. It’s for security reasons."

Killian rolled her eyes. "Believe me I’ve no interest in meddling in couple’s squabble, your majesty. But you’re a pregnant woman and I ask that you take care of yourself more than you care for your unborn child even. People often ask how the child fares, rarely do anyone ever ask how the mother is doing."

Zina bowed slightly at the woman. "I understand."

Killian began to pack up to leave, but before she left, she faced Zina. "Two months ago when that damned woman Freya Fergus was brought to the infirmary, I asked you if you were ready to let go of the past."

Zina remembered that conversation. How heated it had been, and the exchange of words between her and the Grand Healer. "What are you driving at, Grand Healer?"

Surprisingly, the woman who was normally irritable and angry bowed at her, her expression solemn. "I apologize for my actions that day. I myself forgot that it wasn’t just Thyrion that suffered Eldric’s reign. You too, suffered as well."

Zina eyes glinted with unshed tears. "You as well, Grand Healer. There is no need to apologize. For the rest of my life, I will remember the sacrifice that Thyrion made."

Thyrion had been Killians greatest disciple, and also the healer that had been tasked to heal Zina’s numerous wounds after Eldric vented on her body. But when the man had finshed healing Zina, Eldric had taken his head for the mere reason that he didn’t want Thyrion spreading the tale of how he had abused the Great Seer.

Yes, Eldric had been plenty sadistic. So much so that no number of torture and pain inflicted on him would be enough to make up for all his sins.

"It is Thyrions grace that you remember him so fondly, your majesty." Killian said grimly, the old woman’s countenance more mellow than it usually would be.

"It’s unpopular knowledge...." Zina said, stopping the woman short of exiting the grand room, "but Eldric is currently at the West fighting against the White Monks. One day, he would die in the war... that is if he has not died already. Thyrion’s soul will certainly be at ease."

The woman turned to her, a smile snaking her lips. "That is a punishment well served, your majesty."

And then she left.

Zina stewed in the new found silence in her new quarters. Last night, even snuggled against Daemon, her mind had wandered to many places. She had thought of a lot of things, and she had imagined a lot of outcomes.

Her mind had not been at ease for a single moment.

Breathing deeply, she mustered the courage to ring the calling bell attached to her bed. Narnia appeared immediately after.

"Help me get ready," she said to the girl. And then she prepared to go out and face the demons that was waiting for her outside the confines of her chambers.

Demons that her husband was already fighting for her even before she woke.
