The Alpha's Blind Fate -
Chapter 254: The Coroner’s Report
Chapter 254: The Coroner’s Report
ZINA
Just as Zina commanded the coroner to read it his report, Malik came by her side, whispering harshly in her ears.
"What are you doing Theta. The report could be one that could compromise the diplomatic relations that the North have with the East! I believe we should leave this up to the Alpha King to decide!"
At their interaction, the coroner hesitated looking between Malik and Zina, and just by that act alone, she was able to confirm that while the woman Daemon sent to be head of her guard details came from a small house, she was certainly no small fry.
A fact the coroner and the commander seemed to know about.
She was then confident more than ever that Daemon had dispatched one of his best to her. Not like she doubted the possibility, but the knowledge helped her to put a lot of things into perspective.
"I asked you to read out the report." Zina said strongly, not acknowledging Malik for once. She could feel the hot waves of anger that the woman emitted by her side while she thought that Zina was about to bring her Lord and Master to ruins.
But Zina wasn’t simply making mouth, something she discovered by looking between Fionna and the Sighter was what propelled her to arrive at a conclusion. And she was convinced that this was a matter she had to deal with decisively and quickly.
The more it was delayed, the more the consequences would grow.
"My first and most important discovery is at to the location where the body was found; following that, I do not believe the deceased Red Sister died at this inn, she was moved."
The twin Blood Collectirs flared at Fionna at the same time, "it is the Red Hand that killed and mobed her. We have no time for this charade! We must take her back, even if we have to go through the one in the palace to do so!"
Malik stalked for the Red Sisters that towered above her height wise, eyes narrowed at them. "That is no way to address his majesty the king."
Zina rolled her eyes. So much estrogen was flying in the air it would have choked her. Facing the coroner and ignoring the squabble, she probed. "What more did you find?"
And there, the man said the exact thing she had been waiting. "While the killing blow was a powerful and very decisive one, I found trails that pointed to a possible combat before the deceased died. Also, she was gripping at her sword as one would do when expecting a blow, so she wasn’t exactly taken by surprise."
"So you mean she was facing her opponent?" Zina said directly the words the coroner was scared to say in the face of the Red Sisters.
"Indeed." The man nodded.
"The sword Red Hand is not one that can be taken out in combat so easily. I believe that the Claw Red Hand had her assassinated through devious means!" One of the twins growled, violently reaching for Fionna.
Zina stepped in between them, causing the Red Sister to have to stop abruptly.
"Surely you do not believe I am incapable of bringing you harm, Theta. For your sake, step away!" She growled, eyes glinting with menace that she truly meant harm if ever it came to such.
"Do you know what land you stand upon?" Zina growled lethally instead, ignoring the fact that the difference in their strength was like night and day. She with a weak wolf, and the other woman with a wolf that was trained from her birth.
Of course, her guards had now crept out of the shadows, wolf teeth bared at the direction of the Red Sisters while promising harm and ruin at the same time.
The Red Sister cat fully noted her surroundings, gauging the thirty guards that had rounded them up. Although it wound be utterly foolish of her to think that the reason why Zina was standing fearlessly before her was because of them.
Since the woman didn’t seem to be interested to answer, Zina continued. "I shall answer for you. Right now, at this very moment, there are no greens or muddy swamp anywhere in sight. You stand before ice frozen trees, and houses with their roofs covered in hardened ice. You stand on the land of the Arctic North and not the GreenLands, so how dare you think you can act however you wish to."
The only thing Zina noticed in that moment apart from the frozen stares of the Red Sisters was the strange shine in the Sighter’s eyes. She would have called it pride if not for the fact that they were strangers as far as the meaning of the world allowed, as such, there couldn’t possibly exist the feeling of pride for the other on any side.
When the Red Sister recovered herself, she said in an attempt to save herself. "The Red Sisters are honored guests of the Alpha King...."
"I shall stop you right there for you and I know the story behind how your organization barged into our lands with the WolfKnights in tow."
"You’re a WolfKnight too! We are one so you shouldn’t be..."
"And I shall also stop you right there, Red Sister, Blood Collector, whatever your name is. You must understand that contrary to the glib words of Brestom IceSavage, I stand here as the Theta of the NorthSeed Pack that rules over the lands of the Arctic North. So for your sake, I ask that you be careful of the kind of people you categorize me with."
The Red Sister, face puffed red from her anger seemed to struggle with words to say. Zina decided to put her off her misery by delivering the last blow.
"Rule 589 of the Code of Conduct of the Five Great Evil states that on a foreign land, no organization or its member may take up arms without due authorisation. Such organization and or its member may also not attack especially where there already exists goodwill. Blood Collector, I shall now have you explain to me what the Sword Red Hand was doing on our lands with her sword poised for the kill."
The Red Sister simply shook and vibrated from her anger while Zina proceeded to cover up the deceased Red Sister with the white cloth.
With a simple, "Might I have a word with you, Red Hand Fionna?" Zina began to storm away, her guards in tow and the Red Sister still speechless. Almost immediately, Malik began to interrogate her.
"Do you have due authority from his majesty to handle this matter as crudely as you’ve done it."
Zina, yet again, pretended not to hear the woman until they reached their carriage. Facing her squarely, she said.
"Do you understand what have just happened?"
Malik frowned, "what else if not for the fact that you, Theta, has handled a matter of diplomacy with such crudeness."
Zina chuckled causing the woman to look at her confused like she was running mad. "I guess you still do not understand it. Since you’ve been trying to show me just how loyal you’re to His Majesty, then I shall ask if you know the subject matter of this murder?"
Malik frowned. "Probably the fact that Red Hand Fionna has a hand in what has happened. And she so happens to be contesting!"
Zina shook her head. "You’re wrong, Mistress Zorch. The subject matter here is the fact that whoever perpetuated the case of the man who lost his tongue and had same tongue delivered to your lord and king has a hand in moving this body to this very peculiar location. Believe me when I say it has little to do with whether Ref Hand Fionna murdered the Red Sister or not."
Malik froze, eyes wide open and filled with horror and realization while Zina, with the aid of Ablanch, climbed into the carriage.
First things first, she needed to ask Fionna some really pressing questions.
