Zina finally managed to put Yuri to sleep in her chambers. She was patting the girl gently on her back while listening to her easy breathing when Seraph’s grim face, wiped off any playfulness, filled her vision.

"First it was good news, now I guess it’s bad news."

Seraph shook her head. "Not exactly bad news." She said.

"What is it?" Zina asked almost immediately in a small voice, careful not to wake Yuri. "Out with it already."

Seraph stared at Yuri sleeping on her lap uncomfortably before she spoke. "His majesty has slated the sentencing and execution of the BloodMoon’s today."

"Why today?" Zina asked, although to be quite honest, she couldn’t care less when the execution would be carried out. She was more worried about how Yuri would react to her mother being punished because Zina knew that Daemon intended on punishing the woman for sure.

And not even Yuri would be able to stop him. Hell, Zina had no interest in stopping him either. Not when the woman in question had tried to sell her daughter as bait for Daemon. As far as crazy went, Bella took the lead and such women should not be allowed near Yuri, no matter if the young girl is her daughter or not.

"It seems his majesty wants to get rid of all traces of treason in his court...." Seraph trailed, hinting at something that Zina knew well of.

During the rebellion by the BloodMoon’s, the IceSavage Pack that conspired with them had managed to be scot free. While they had allowed the BloodMoon’s entrance into their territory which in turn allowed the late Alpha BloodMoon to reach the Ice Castle faster, Alpha IceSavage had quickly turned to the Night Mages for help to avert the misfortune that he alleged his stupid son had solely brought upon them.

Ao naturally, the Night Mages and the three remaining High-Ranked Packs had backed the Ice Savages, referring to their contribution to the rebellion as a ’mistake.’ Scarier than the way they had all huddled and supported Alpha IceSavage was the fact that Daemon had barely reacted to the denial and then allowed the IceSavage pack to remain unscathed under his titillating rage.

The IceSavage’s downfall was surely coming, but it would have to be a matter for another day.

Zina gently laid down Yuri’s head on the bed while she stood, stretching herself. She debated whether she should attend the execution or not, but then she figured she owed that much to the little girl that now laid on her bed. She should see how Bella would end so she would know how to explain it to Yuri if she ever asked in the future.

With that reasoning, she was out of her room, headed to the King’s Court where the execution and sentencing would be held. As she expected, the place was flooded by Arguers who were there to talk on Bella’s behalf and Daemon seemed to take in the spectacle with bored eyes.

Zina didn’t bother standing at the high benches. She simply took her place beside the crowd of people that came to observe Daemon passing judgement for the first time as king.

Well, for the second time as King, if cutting off one of Alpha Gablon’s hands was anything to go by.

"Your majesty," one of the Arguers was saying, "the woman who stands before you is a NorthSteed as far as the name goes. While it’s true that her husband, the former king, committed treason against the people, she is still just a woman and the mother of your niece and should not be subjected to such ridicule."

Daemon’s dark eyes took the man in. "I hear you." He simply said and the man took it as an opening to babble further.

"It is true that the BloodMoon’s have committed grave treason against the crown. Not only did they purport to upturn the crown but they aimed to take his majesty’s life...."

"My life?" Daemon asked, his eyebrows scrunched in fake confusion, "I wasn’t aware that a move was made against my life. Last I checked, I was away at the time of the rebellion, but do continue dear Speaker."

The Arguer cleared his throat uncomfortably. "No matter, the point remains that it is outrageous to think that such a weak seemingly harmless woman like the former Luna Queen will be a party to such a discrediting act. If it were still during the time of your ancient forefathers, she would have already been taken in marriage by you in levitate marriage custom and yet...."

"Levitate marriage?" Daemon repeated in a gravelly voice, "Surely you are not suggesting that my so-called ancestors would have married their traitorous brothers’ wife?"

The Arguer shifted uncomfortably. "That is not what I mean..."

"If you’re yet done with your wonderful argument, then perhaps we should allow the woman in question to take the stage."

All eyes turned to Bella who was dragged into the room by two burly Epsilon’s with menacing looks. She was not even struggling, no, she looked like she was allowing them to drag her alright for she no longer had any strength of her own. Her eyes were downcasted to the floor while her brown hair that had lost its shine spilled about her.

They thrusted Bella before Daemon, forcing her to kneel before him. At the same time, Daemon seemed to search the crowd briefly before his eyes met with Zina’s.

Zina smiled at him, a gesture he returned with a slight shift in his eyes before he returned his eyes back to Bella.

"Your defense then?" Daemon demanded of her brusquely as if he was eager to be anywhere but there.

The room was silent for a stretch and it almost seemed as though Bella wouldn’t talk until she muttered in a dry voice that managed to echo through the room.

"Defense for what?"

Daemon seemed amused, "for your crimes of course."

"What crime do you mean?"

Was Bella seriously playing dumb? And why was Daemon entertaining her antics.

"Your crime of treason and selling a daughter of the crown to foreigners."

Bella cackled like a mad woman, her laughter sending chills over Zina’s body. "Oh, I’ve a defense alright." She spat, glaring fiercely at Daemon, "And that is the fact that I am the last true BloodMoon."
