Chapter 215: Side Story 4: The Diamond Hostess

MOON

The day of the auction rolled in in a wrap of a terse atmosphere with promises of a resolution, in whatever form it would be.

The center of the auction seemed to be stones of varying types... even common stones whose elements had been altered to meet the crux of a rarity which was most coveted.

Jade from the South, Obsidian from the North, Diamonds from the East, and Sea Pearls from the West. Those were just the highlights for there were far too many stones being auctioned than just the central four, and among such stones was the inferior Onyx being auctioned by the popular merchant Kaliga.

All that heard about the merchant’s item thought that maybe the man was running senile for while Onyx was hard to process indeed, its raw form could be found at about anywhere that possessed aging rocks which was the entirety of Vraga if more context were to be put into it.

But that just meant one man out of the terse competition, so all carried on while facing their own stones in the hopes that Alpha Dale who was said to be representing the whole of the West would accept to trade with them on their open seas.

The auction was set, and the hostesses that would be displaying the numerous stones came in batch by batch, first displaying the inferior stones from smaller merchants. The first part of the auction served as a form of amusement to the bigger merchants that were present as they watched Alpha Dale not glance at the stones for once. No, the man was rather interested in the very beautiful woman who kept massaging his stiff shoulders while whispering sweet nothings in the man’s ears.

The merchants realized that the fate of the auction would probably lie in the words that the woman would whisper to Alha Dale and the image of what was to come only made them sullen as they shifted uncomfortably on their seats.

Meanwhile, Marcus in his masked form while role playing as Kaliga the merchant seemed bored out of his mind while he gazed mindlessly at the display before him.

All manners of stones were held in the hands of the hostess that resorted to flamboyant dances to display the merchant’s goods, and yet none of them were flamboyant enough to catch the eyes of Alpha Dale who seemed rather engrossed in the woman that was currently feeding him grapes. The same woman who was none other than the girl he had previously ran into just the other day.

Marcus ate the grapes too, his eyes shining with amusement at the realization of who the girl was. She was none other than the Red Sister who was sent into the arms of Alpha Dale to seduce and bring him down in the disguise of a hostess until he accepted the Diamonds of the GreenLands.

The realization that the Red Sisters had sent a girl while not startling made him angry. The pesky organization was crossing more lines than they should and he would relay just that to Daemon who already had dreams of wiping out the standing of the Five Great Evils. Perhaps they would start with the Red Sisters first.

Soon, the first and most being part of the auction was over and it was time to display the stones of the bigger and more influential merchants. Even more exquisite hostesses dressed in flamboyant transparent silk filtered into the room while the Red Sister in disguise excused herself and left Alpha Dale. Marcus watched as Alpha Dale’s beady eyes followed the girl up until she left the room. The depraved man swallowed and Marcus couldn’t quite believe that the man was totally unaware of the tender age of the woman he had been dabbling with.

After a few displays of stones by the hostesses, the Red Sister reentered the room although this time around, she was clad in a far more obscene yet exquisite dress that decently exposed some of her cleavage.

Half of her face was decadently obscured by a silky handkerchief, and yet, Marcus had mastered her eyes enough to know that it was the girl that now held the attention of the room.

A clear-cut stone glittered in her fingers as she swayed seductively to the sound of drums that beat in the room. But while the previous hostesses had danced, this girl did not just dance. No, she fought with every step she took like she was the goddess of death preparing to carry out a great vengeance.

Every sway of her hips was the rhythm of forbidden music. Every dip, every eye contact, every twirl the sound of a forbidden music that was only okayed in the dead of the night. She was a beauty alright, but the forbidden kind. The forbidden apple that would lead to the downfall of a man.

Every man in the room watched the intro with an awestruck face, and Alpha Dale had on an expression that said he was already sold to the hostess alright. When the sound of the drums receded till it died out, the girl ended the dance with a very dramatic finish as she dipped into the ground like a snake would before it struck its victim.

Not panting in the east from the physical exertion of her slow dance, she introduced the stone that glittered in her long fingers.

"I introduce to you the ultimate stone of the night—Diamonds."

An unnerving silence followed the introduction as everyone seemed to wait with bated breaths for the highlight of the introduction. The girl twirled, holding out the clear-cut diamond that seemed to embody the gentle sway of the sea and the secrets of the tempest. As far as highlights went, the stone in her hand was definitely one fit enough to be the highlight of that auction, but Marcus had not even presented his stone so that would be a hasty conclusion.

In a hypnotic voice, the girl continued. "Hard enough to break even a hammer, ominous enough to enchant your wives, and clear enough to not be tainted by sin, diamond is the stone that will lead all stones."

A bold declaration for sure, but one Marcus was eager to trample on.
