The Alpha's Blind Fate -
Chapter 176: Her All
Chapter 176: Her All
ZINA
They say the truth is a healing balms that heals all, but the truth had never seemed so terrifying as it did that moment.
"Because you will leave me one day, and I fear I won’t survive it!"
Many things happened at the same time. The storm in Daemon’s eyes morphed into amusement, while Zina’s wolf who would have quipped with something sarcastic instead, reached out to console her.
While the motion wasn’t visible, it felt as though her wolf was patting her on the back.
’You’ve had it hard." She said, and those words were enough to bring tears to Zina’s eyes. She would have cried right then and there if not for the fact that something seemed to amuse Daemon.
The corners of lips were curved into a half smile that seemed to want to explode into a full blown laughter, and his eyes shined as if he had just won something.
Zina wasn’t a violent person, truly, she was not that kind of person. But before she knew it, she was raining down punches on his hard chest while still trapped by his hands that gripped her waist.
Daemon dissolved into full blown laughter, and the sound gave her a stop. She had never heard the man laugh, and the sound was enough to bring down heaven and freeze hell. It was like a sound she would love to wake to in the morning, and sleep to at night. It was like a sound she would love to hear everyday for the rest of her life, and that thought hurt.
Finally, his laughter receded and clear dark eyes met hers. She had never seen his eyes that clear, and something about it caused her heart to swell and tingle.
"Do you think it’s such a good thing to have a family?" he asked, his voice not taunting nor demeaning. In fact, it felt as though he was speaking the most truth he had ever had to her.
His other also wrapped against her waist, tugging her impossibly closer. "I’m asking you if you think it’s bad that you know nothing of your parents? At least they did you the favour of abandoning you at the first instance. I mean, they could have been such shitty parents that you would have wished you had none in the first place."
Zina blinked multiple times, and each time her eyes reopened, Daemon’s amused eyes reached to her heart, almost whispering to her that she was not alone as she would have loved to believe so.
"I crawled out of my dead mother, and my father never truly looked at my face, not even the night when he banished his son from his one true mate. Believe me when I say that sometimes, it’s better to not have parents."
The words packed a punch, hitting her straight at the guts. Zina suddenly felt ashamed of herself and her abandonment issues. Before her was one man that had been abandoned too, and yet, he never seemed to show the visceral trauma that she felt.
As if reading her thoughts, he smiled cynically. "Zina, I do not mean to underestimate what you might have been through... but do you want to be always stuck in the past or would you rather leap with me into the future?"
Zina blinked multiple times again, as if that would make Daemon’s true feelings stand out. His eyes spoke of so much sincerity that all she wanted to do was remain in his arms while forgetting the world outside.
He leaned into her until their foreheads were touching. "Whether I want to claim you to keep other men away, or whether I want to claim you for myself, what matters Zina is that I will never let go of your hands once I hold them....
Zina would have staggered then and there under the weight of his words if he was not supporting her. She would have fainted, thinking that was the only way she would wake up from this dream cause surely, what Daemon was saying couldn’t be real?
I will never let go of your hands once I hold them. Talk about a promise enough to pull down the moon and set the world on a fire of darkness. That was what Daemon’s promise were like, as if she was traversing a world of darkness without a sight of her own.
But Daemon wasn’t done yet, "Stand by my side as more than my Theta...be my all."
His all?
Zina feared she had long given up parts of herself to him even before he asked. But Daemon was not asking for what she might have purported to have given to him, no, he was asking for what he wanted. He wanted her.
To be his all.
His mate, his wife, his luna.
Zina swallowed. She opened her lips to say something, but closed it almost immediately as the words refused to form. She repeated the motion more times than she cared for, before she was finally able to say something.
Because she was almost sure that Norami Talga must have said something about it to Daemon, she said. "But the Five Great Evil foretells I will bring you down shall I stand by your side..."
"Did you see it?" Daemon interjected before she could full form her objections.
"What?" She frowned slightly in confusion.
"Did you see the so-called ancient prophecy?" He repeated.
"No?"
"Then it doesn’t matter nor does it hold any truth."
Was it remotely possible for her heart to be squeezed that much, because the poor organ seemed to be trapped in Daemon’s own personal cage.
"Daemon...." The protest was on her lips without reason and she was glad that Daemon cut her off immediately.
"I can’t believe I’m begging you to marry me after you all but made me seem like a man as undutiful as your first mate."
"I don’t mean it like that...!"
"Then do you want to marry me?"
"Of course I do!"
...
...
Was she jumping into the unknown? Yes. Was she going to do it all over again? Yes.
Daemon grimned and Zina was sure that her heart was going to burst from all the motions it had been forced to go through.
"We will get married alongside my coronation then."
"Wait! I don’t think it’s wise to do it on your coronation!"
He frowned. "Why?"
Zina tried to calm the wild beat of her heart. She would die of shame if she were to stand before a crowd like no other in the next three days while she was proclaimed as Daemon’s wife and Luna. No, she needed a little bit of time to get her head together. Besides, the next three days was supposed to be for Daemon and not for her.
Zina smiled. "I am still the Theta and I’m in charge of your coronation," she said, proferring the only valid excuse that she could think of, "I still have my role in the deal to see through which is to make sure you’re crowned without much objections. Now that you’ve managed to piss of the Five Houses, and possibly, the Five High Ranked Packs, it’s become more pertinent that I see this through."
Daemon frowned at her last sentence, but he didn’t object to the validity of it, knowing it was the truth.
"Fine, but we’re getting engaged."
Zina giggled, finding him to be so unlike him. "Of course."
Her heart was swelling, and this dangerous man before her was responsible for it. That day, Daemon had not only bared parts of his past before her, but he had also promised to hold her hands and never let go of it.
How was it possible that she was this happy? Her encounter with him that had started with a lie was ending with... marriage? It all sounded so unbelievable. Like she was in a dream and she would be woken up anytime soon.
Fearing that it was indeed a dream, she pressed her lips against his, meaning against the softness of it and equally chased all of her nightmares with the kiss that shot straight to her heart.
And he kissed her back, the intensity of it engraving her promise to her home. He kissed her, until she could feel for herself the love he had for her that could never be put to words. And she felt it for herself, that she loved this man with her all.
