The Alpha's Blind Fate -
Chapter 171: What To Do?
Chapter 171: What To Do?
ZINA
"Where is Alpha BloodMoon?"
Fionna made a crazy move with the dagger that was embedded in the Beta’s femoral artery, and that finally got the man screaming the answer to Zina’s question amidst the fountain of blood that spilled even more from him.
"HE IS NOT HERE! HE TOOK THE PACK’S WARRIORS TO THE ICE CASTLE!!!"
Besides finding out how much volume of blood one man can possess; Zina was beginning to understand firsthand just how much of a coward the BloodMoon Beta was... which was fine and good.
What would she do then? Sending Marcus a message was simply not plausible especially if Alpha BloodMoon had made his move a long time ago. But what could this mean? And where was Yuri?
Panic engulfed her as she dropped her dagger altogether, her fists tugging at the man’s collar although she possessed not the strength to lift him up. Eyes fixed intently on him, Zina raked her mind for what to do.
"Where is Yuri?" She finally asked, regaining some calmness to herself.
"I don’t know about her whereabouts!" The man cried out.
Fionna twisted the dagger that was now at a new position even deeper. "You still won’t answer even when my baby is digging deep into your balls?" She asked, grinning like she was enjoying the torture a little more than normal.
Her baby?
Zina didn’t think too much of the statement when the Beta answered, "I swear I do not know! But Bella BloodMoon followed the Alpha to the Ice Castle so you will be better off asking her about her daughter!"
So Bella was gone too.
Zina roughly released the man, her heart racing madly. This was the time for her to proffer Marcus DireWolf the element of doubt. Surely the man would be able to hold his own against thousands of soldiers with just a little over a hundred of his.
Technically, all the soldiers of the Arctic North Packs belonged to the Alpha King. While the Packs retained partial autonomy, it was treason to move their pack warriors without the permission of the Alpha King. If Alpha BloodMoon had decided to make such a move, that could only mean that the man was well prepared to die which meant he would put his all into it.
Zina remembered Marcus’ earlier letter and the contents caused a fresh wave of dread to wash over her.
We have been investigating the BloodMoon’s and their impending treason for some time now. Their fall is near so I must warn you to tread with care. Daemon will be back anytime soon, so don’t do anything rash. Also try to avoid the IceSavage Pack. We have intel hinting at their conspiracy with the BloodMoons.
Zina understood it perfectly then the last argument she had with the DireWolf Beta. The man was hell bent against inviting the Five High Ranked Packs as Upper Echelon Guests because he didn’t wish to inflate their importance any more than it was already inflated.
Under Eldric’s reign, the Five Packs had grown regrettably resistant to the crown... but instead of taming them, Eldric had allowed them to run rampant for afterall, his father-in-law was one of them.
Now, before Daemon officially took to the throne, they were already about to suffer the consequences.
Zina turned to the Epsilons that were still facing each other, their weapons posed against each other. Hot anger boiled in her as she took in the sight. So much for being united under the banner of the Arctic Wolf.
She glared at the Epsilons of the BloodMoon Pack and they shifted uncomfortably under her stare but they didn’t relax their attacking posture. "Have you forgotten the mandate of Thane NorthSteed, the founder and uniter of the Arctic North?!" she half growled, half gritted the question.
Silence greeted her, but not because they didn’t hear her question, but because their shame was far too much that it took away their voice.
Zina took a step forward in their direction while the Beta of the BloodMoon Pack wouldn’t stop crying like a baby. She had no time for this, she needed to be on the move as quickly as possible... but common sense told her that she needed more than just the hundred Epsilons that Marcus had given her.
"I shall make you a first and final offer. You have committed a grave sin before my very eyes, the Alpha King is sure to have your heads. However, I shall make sure he spares your life if you lay down your weapons and follow me to keep to the true order of the North."
Furtive glances were exchanged as Zina spoke the words without a pause. The men glanced at their Alpha, and then back at Zina as if trying to weigh who was stronger. Zina could see the very image that was before theirs for even though Beta BloodMoon was sprawled under Fionna’s knife, they saw the man behind him rather than the whimpering man.
So between Alpha BloodMoon’s strength and Zina’s evident physical lack of any, the men didn’t feel compelled to tackle Zina’s offer... not when their Alpha would win.
As the heavy silence and silent examination hung in the air, Zina clenched her fists by her sides, the sweaty wetness of ot highly uncomfortable. She thought of what she must do to have them by her side. She could imagine that if it were Daemon, the man was sure to have a solution. He was, after all, well spoken even though he hardly talked, and his intelligence was one that simply couldn’t be denied....
...it was etched to every crevice of his body.
As she thought hard about what to say, an image of Daemon’s Wolf Chess Table appeared before her eyes. Specifically, the pieces of the Aberrant and the Supreme Wolf that stood side by side. The strongest and weakest piece seemingly united.
Zina suddenly had an idea, and it came to her in flashes of Daemon’s intelligent eyes and smirking lips.
It felt as though she stood before a raging sea, her only way out being to jump into it. She took a step forward to the Epsilons, and the act caused some of them to turn their weapons from her men and instead point it at her as if the gesture would deter from taking any more steps forward.
Zina was hardly deterred. Not even when Fionna who still held the Beta captive screamed that Zina should not take a step forward. Not even when said Beta laughed maniacally, screaming, "Do you think they would turn away from their Alpha for your uncrowned king!"
Zina only stopped when she stood directly before an Epsilon that seemed like the leader of the group. Smiling, she asked. "What has your Alpha promised you? I mean should he succeed, what will be your state? Will you still be alive or perhaps turn up dead?"
