The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 149: The Great Cleansing

Chapter 149: The Great Cleansing

PS: Werewolf Organization

Meaning; a group of werewolves that might not be necessarily a pack who are united by a common power that is derogatory of the true way of the Wolf.

Archaic Meaning: a group of werewolves that have taken to act in a way that is not ordained by nature and the moon and possessing powers that are not werewolf-like.

Example; The Night Mages of the Arctic North are a pack too but mainly an organization for they are united in their quest to perform sorcery and necromancy.

After the Great Purge of the deformed monsters came the time of the Great Cleansing. While the Five Great Evils survived the cleansing due to their immense powers, not every other werewolf organisation survived it.

The cleansing lasted for centuries till even now. For the endeavour to cleanse our world of werewolves who have departed from the true way of the moon is a relentless pursuit.

As the servants cleared the shards of glass in the room, Zina’s absence was noticeably enhanced as the sweet smell she always seemed to possess lingered in the room.

She was gone... a parting that Daemon now admitted was reluctant on his part.

He didn’t want Zina to leave.

He wanted her there with him at all times.

He wanted her to always be within his sight.

When she had shown jealousy over Freya, Daemon had realised that Zina didn’t think much of herself. Of how beautiful she was, or how she easily disarmed men with mere words and the charisma of her presence that she embodied with her soul.

He wondered what had chapped her confidence so much that she couldn’t realise her own beauty by herself. How she was so blind to the eyes that turned to her at every corner she went. How she was so unaware that it was her vows that kept at bay the vivid attraction men felt for her

Whether it was her body or her mind, or whether it was the way she always kept her head high even in the face of adversity...every part of her was fucking beautiful.

No matter, she was now his, and he would decimate any man that looked at her the ’wrong’ way or wished to covet her for the matter.

He was not in the business of sharing what was rightfully his, and it so happened that Zina was his.

Every part of her belonged to him.

Her words, her body, her soul, her spirit, her eyes, even the words that rolled off her lips... all of them belonged to him.

Daemon stretched his neck just as the servants finished clearing the shards of glass. His office was now officially unusable, and there was much to do so he temporarily pushed Zina off his mind.

If he was going to concentrate and get everything done, he simply couldn’t be thinking about her lips that tasted like flowers, or how her eyes speared into her soul until it felt like she was baring all of him.

Taking a meaningful look at the window sills that were now gaping open from the destruction that happened to them, Daemon strode to the Great Hall instead. Shortly after, Marcus rejoined him, the man slightly sweating.

"Everyone that witnessed the windows shattering will not be saying anything about them. I’ve had them silenced." Marcus announced while Daemon nodded grimly.

The vast room of the Great Hall was empty, however the stench of the blood that was previously spilled there still slightly lingered.

"What happened, Daemon?" Marcus inquired. Marcus knew nothing of why Daemon had made such an unusual request of him, and yet the man carried out the errand in all earnestness.

Before Daemon could answer the man on the baffling discovery he had made, Yaren entered the room.

"Daemon." The man greeted, also sweating himself. Yaren had been sent to invite the House Z’s to the castle for Daemon to meet. For while they worked as his spies, they barely had contact and Daemon too wished to reward them for all of their hard work in the last six years.

"Have you invited the houses?" Daemon asked him.

"I’ve. They will be meeting you tonight at the brothel."

Daemon nodded grimly. That was fine and good as well for he now had a high profile job for the Houses to see through.

Yaren and Marcus were the two people closest to him, and they were also the two people that knew well about Daemon’s sole reason for all the things he had done over the years which was to avenge his mother’s death.

Everything that had happened thus far. From Daemon’s banishment, to the wars they had all fought against the rogues, to their now takeover of leadership in the DireWolf Pack and the Arctic North was to realise that singular purpose. Ever since his uncle, the previous Alpha of the DireWolf Pack had made him understand that the people he was to fight against were not ordinary, Daemon knew he needed all the power in the world at his neck and call.

Taking a deep breath, he began grimly. "I heard the scream today."

At first, Yaren and Marcus simply stared at him lost like they were not quite following what he was saying, but the realisation first dawned on Marcus whose eyes widened from visceral shock.

"You heard the scream?" Marcus said suspiciously as his eyes churned with thoughts while he was probably putting one and one together. "Are you talking of the late Screaming Pack of the Iron Coast?"

It was at this point that Yaren’s eyes widened as he realised what they were talking about. His eyes furtively located Daemon as if to confirm what was being said.

Daemon nodded, confirming indeed that he was speaking of the Screaming Pack of the Iron Coast.

Marcus and Yaren’s shock wasn’t entirely unfounded, and the moment that he heard Zina’s inhumane scream and the effect that followed, only one thing came to his mind.

During the time of the Great Purge followed the time of the Great Cleansing—a period of mass execution.

History was muddled on the origins of that period, but many accounts had it said that the packs at the time were pointing fingers at each other as rumours that the Deformed Monsters were created by a sinister Werewolf Organization.

Vraga’s population at over three hundred million werewolves was reduced to a mere seventy million after the carnage that was the Great Purge, so it was understandable that people wanted to point fingers. However, things got heated when said fingers pointed to one organisation known as the Screaming Pack.
