The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 48: Waking Up in His Bed
Chapter 48: Waking Up in His Bed
It had been many hours already and the sun was already setting. Even if he found out now, what can he possibly do about it?
“Answer me, Regina...” Leonard demanded coldly.
He’s so angry...
“I am meeting your father and Duchess Isabella tomorrow, so I asked her to find the Hermiosa flower that the Duchess favors to give to her as a gift. The maid that you are looking for should be in the mountains...” Regina replied as if she had done nothing wrong.
She smiled charmingly at the prince while telling herself that she had not done anything wrong. The Duchess had requested for the flower, and she simply had one of her maids travel up the mountain to find it. Without waiting for her to say anymore, Leonard turned and walked hastily away towards the exit of the room.
“Leonard! Please wait!” Regina called after him.
She hurried after him before pulling on his arm to stop him.
Why was he so worried and doing so much for that maid?
She’s just a maid.
She smiled sweetly up at him and then their eyes met when he stopped and looked down into her smiling face.
“From now on, you will address me as Prince Leonard...” the prince said coldly.
Regina stared up into his eyes as her body froze from the meaning behind his words. Her mouth fell open as he yanked his arm around away from her numb fingers. She stood frozen in the same spot as she struggled to process his uncaring words. Never in her life, had he asked her to address him as a prince of the kingdom before.
Leo...
“It’s not what you think! The Duchess wanted the flower so I...” she called after him when she finally found her voice again.
The door to her living room closed with a loud slam right in front of her face and the prince was gone just as suddenly as he had appeared in her palace. The pain she felt in the palm of her hands made her realize that her hands were balled into tight fists with her long shapely nails digging hard into her own flesh. Although the room was silent, Regina could hear the sound of glass shattering as the world around her seemed to crack and crumble.
Leo...since when did this rift start between us?
This is all because of her...
Regina smiled mockingly to herself at the ridiculousness of everything that was happening around her. Without hesitation, she turned around before lifting a vase of flower up above her head and slamming it down on the floor. The sound of the vase hitting the ground and breaking into tiny pieces echoed throughout the living room along with the sound of Regina’s harsh panting.
“My Lady...” Sophie gasped when she came into the room.
Her eyes went immediately to the pale face of her lady before dropping to the shards of the broken vase on the floor.
...
It’s so dark and it’s starting to get colder.
Where am I?
Why am I running?
My legs continued to carry me rapidly forward through a rough path lined by large and very tall trees. I was running through a deep and dark forest, although I didn’t know where I was. My senses were alert, and I was sweating profusely as I panted, my lungs struggling to draw in as much oxygen as possible to supply to the rest of my body.
What am I running away from?
I was scared and I didn’t want to look behind me to see what was chasing me; however, I didn’t have any other choice if I wanted to find out. Before I would lose my nerve, I glanced over my shoulder. In that brief moment, I could make out many large wolves chasing after me. Their eyes were round and so golden that they seemed to glow in the dark forest.
The sound of wolves howling filled the air and I tried my best to run faster. I was getting tired, and I didn’t think that I could keep running for much longer. Something got in the way of my foot, and I ended up tripping and falling hard on my frontside. I whimpered in pain, and I curled my battered and bruised body into a small ball. Looking up, I could see the moon and its light shining through the gap in the trees above.
“Little girl..”
A man’s voice called out to me gently. I turned my face towards the voice, and I came face-to-face with him.
Blond, captivatingly beautiful blue eyes, and a black mask that hid almost all of his face. His sudden appearance shocked me.
Why is Prince Leonard here?
Slowly, his beautiful hand lifted up towards his face. I watched its graceful motion as if ensnared in a trance as his hand settled on the mask on his face. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion as I held my breath unknowingly in anticipation as I watch the prince slowly remove the mask from his face.
“Your name?” he asked me with a beautiful smile on his lips as he cocked his head a little to the side in wonder.
His beautiful blue eyes, his attractive face, and his charming smile...
“No...Ahhh!”
I woke up screaming. However, unlike the many times before when I dreamt of him, he did not disappear this time when my eyes snapped opened.
“Did you have a nightmare?” he asked.
“Yes...” I replied honestly.
I was too confused to think about my response before it left my lips. My eyes busied itself travelling around the unfamiliar bedroom that I was in. The soft bed underneath me felt too comfortable that it made me feel nervous. The only soothing thing about the bed and the room was its mild smell of roses.
“Where am I?” I asked in small voice.
“My bedroom and you’re now on my bed...” he replied as if it was completely to be expected.
“Your bed...?” I whispered in confusion.
How did I end up here?
